Otis went from a tropical storm to a Cat 5 hurricane in 12 hours and smashed right into Acapulco. First Cat 5 to hit mainland Mexico in recorded history. Even with rapid intensification of storms becoming more and more common, this was truly stunning and took everyone by surprise. Videos of the devastation are horrific.

After a 24 hour bus ride I
After a 24 hour bus ride I pulled into Mazatlan right before Hurricane Olivia hit in 1975.
I was really tired and slept thru the whole thing.
Do remember no water or electricity for three days.
