6/30/85 one of the best ever

Forums:

We've said it before and here it is again. A look back at one of my favorite shows ever. Big fun on tour all of 1985! The Shakedown ranks high on the best ever list.

thanks for sharing!

Great show. This was the one time I made it to MPP. I brought a couple of friends who had never seen the GD before, and they loved it.

A solid show on a very solid tour! Seems like it was just yesterday...

As I search feverishly for the SBD CD - got to  crank it tonight. I passed over it last year.

6-30-86 wasn't on that level, but was the best show of Summer '86....

Shakey, did you make it to Bob in Sacramento? Sounded like a good show. I went to Santa Cruz, which was great.

I planned on going to the Sac show Local but changed plan and passed on it. The Thursday and Saturday shows in Oakland I saw up close and that was good enough for now. Hoping to see him again of course and we will all see if that transpires! I gave a listen to a great quality recording of Santa Cruz! Wanting to listen to every Key West to hear how much it has had a moving and changing arrangement. That song sort of blows my mind.

The show on 7/1 is pretty strong as well. The Walkin Blues is out of this world and I just love it when Jerry takes over the Bobby tunes. Good stuff.

^^^Both nights are very strong:  7/1 had the old time Dancing arrangement to open, Summer '85 Walking Blues was a jam vehicle(also got one @ Alpine). Played the crap out of what looks like a standard mid 80's 2nd set on 7/1.  Jack-A-Roe gets one more play in August '85, next December '88.^^^

6-30-86 wasn't on that level, but was the best show of Summer '86>>

2nd afternoon in Alpine had a chance with a really fine 1st set, 2nd set was just not on the same level.  Nice laid back venue in Cincy.

Give a listen to the Brown Eyed Women from this 6/30 show. You will hear the zip that Garcia always had for this song and it's needed. This one rips and is sung as well as it's played.
