4th of July plans ?

Forums:

I'll be Going   To Santa Barbara , I'll  Hit Joes for a Couple Stiff Drinks then Wander down to the Harbor area for Live Music on the Beach  Should Be Alot of Fun !

what are Your plans ?   Party and Be Safe all.

Avoid traffic and large crowds.

None yet.  I'll be on call for work, unless I decide not to be.  Firm is closed but the dept. has coverage.

It's a British firm, and they ain't celebrating,

Working through and the next week end too. Can't turn down that overtime and triple double(what ever thefuck holiday)  monies despite Uncle's take.

The commitment will pay off in about six more months. Get the deed.

Time to relax and take holidays. Maybe one or two holidays off in the last twelve years. Fifteen year mortgage paid off in thirteen.

Next year I will be able to travel to shows that are a longer show than the travel time to get there.

That has been a huge factor decision tipping point(traveling to a show) for quite a while now. Commitments and all that shit.

Early Happy Birthday America , zoners.

Driving from MI to CA with the better half, leaving MI in the AM on the 4th so probably staying somewhere in Nebraska on the 4th. Flying out tomorrow after working over 65 hrs this week.

Hoping to camp in CO somewhere along the I-70 corridor on the 5th and maybe 6th but I have a feeling this trip will be somewhat of a clusterfuck. We will have some fun though.

Be safe , Across.

Deadbeats are playing downtown in the afternoon - we'll probably stop by for that. Usually we don't stick around for the fireworks display, though.

BBQ......Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest......LSD

Private gig in Davis, CA w/Lisa Phenix and Phil Minas

Break a leg/don't blow off a finger, Bill.

^It's the other eye I need to be careful of. Lost the right one to a bottle rocket on Lady Liberty 4th, 1986. wink

Hang on to that left one, Bill! Jeez.

 Lady Liberty 4th, 1986.<<

A rough one. Our friend's frizzy hair caught an errant bottle rocket and burst into flames (a lot of "product" was used in the 80s).

(She came out of it fine.)

Working out in Montana.  Have fun, everyone.

working all day caring for the devil lettuce...

Pot food on a flight is a godsend.

Don't get your hopes up, I won't be pulling an OG ( and I'm flying United).

Have fun, peeps

Back yard bbqing

In the front of my house is a small valley (rare in fla) all the locals down there shoot their morters and such, pretty good stuff. Or I could walk about a half mile west to the lake and park and watch the small town's big show. I usually stick to the valley show, its closer to the cooler.

Backyard BBQ and pool time.

Resting up for a quick trip to Red Rocks next week. ATL > DEN on night of the 13th, Red Rocks the 14th, Boulder Theater the 15th, DEN > ATL the afternoon of the 16th.

looks exhausting in print...

trimming on my porch, then going to smoke a usda prime tri tip over coast live oak(the traditional wood for tri tip a la santa maria BBQ), and roast some artichokes stuffed with shredded duck leg confit, leeks, and hazelnuts on the hot side of the fire. maybe also make some beans as a classic santa maria bbq accompaniment to the trip tip.

Who is the winner in  LSD eating contest???

I think I'm in second place still, behind you, my man!

Continue to enjoy the July 4th holiday.

Having 2 "top of the A list" Zoners over for bbq.  Any friends with nothing to do, come on out to Lake County.

Hi Mark

Happy BBQ Day!

Lake County sounds like where it's really at.

I am thinking to catch an early bus north from the city to the Marin County Fair, mainly to see the Marin Renaissance Pleasure Faire 50th Anniversary exhibit. Then on the way back stop at Terrapin Crossroads and feel patriotic with Phil.

performing in the parade in Redwood City.

Fuckin 'A'!  Give a shout out to John Philip Sousa

My goal is to drive out to the coast with Hüsky for a swim in the Atlantic Ocean.

We'll just see if he is into that,  but he has enjoyed swimming lately,  with the Warm Weather.

It's Neat-o driving around through different areas and seeing / hearing the Fourtha Fireworks Shows starting around Dusk.

The target Dawg Swim area is Asbury Park in Jerseyland after 6 PM when Dawgs are allowed there.  They have a specific Beach (Eighth Avenue) where Dawgs are permissible.

Probably attempting to get there 3-4 PM for a Snack at Dog-Friendly place nearby.  Pop's Garage,  WönderBar or a couple others sound OK...

There are many gyp-joints along the Jerseyland Coast who(m) say they are "Dog-Friendly"  but  they are total Liars.

Resting after a monster July 3rd.

Stu, report back if you encounter NJ's "First Whale". I hear he's stranded on some closed beach somewhere.

It's Funny Surf --

Place 'Gov. Orca' & fam - fam commandeered is called "Island Beach State Park".  A nice stretch of coastline and always packed all Summer.

If you go South of the large building in the photos a 1/4 or 1/2 mile, that's the unpopulated area free of lifeguards and people.  Dawgs are allowed there, + fishing and other Surfy activities.  But you have to get there very early in the AM before the cut-off / # of people allotment.  Also it costs $ to attend, either daily or annual fee.

Kristy the Klown actually has a tax-funded Beach Mansion not too far from the 'closed-to-the-peasants'  Island Beach,  either Sea Girt or Seaside depending who(m) you ask.  Every Jerseyland gov. has had access to that place for decades.  So that makes Fudgey The Whale's little PR stunt all the more blatant 'Ooohhh I'm a Gigantic Douche-Basket' political statement.

Anyway,  my Hound is helicopter-less and a big Sleeper.  Papa can't afford Beach fees.  So we are heading to Asbury Park which has one little stretch of Beach open to Dawgs after 6 PM.  There's a plethora of clip-joints all over that town offering $7.50 half-burgers & $4.00 Bud-Lite cans for happy Hour,  but the one nearby the Dog Beach has 'Yappy Hour' with normal seven-dollar Pints and you can bring the Dawg.

Hey at least there's no Tolls indecision

The store is closed today, so I'm cleaning the pad and doing laundry this morning.  I volunteer at the People's Harm Reduction Alliance on Tuesday afternoons, and we decided that since hospitals don't close for the 4th of July, we will continue our work this afternoon.

After the work portion of the day ends, I plan to watch baseball and soccer over beers and barbeque before walking down to Gasworks for the fireworks.

Are any of you Californians getting some of that heat-stroked dead cow bbq?

Happy 4th, people!

>>>>>that heat-stroked dead cow bbq?

Band name.

HSDCB for short.

Mister/water fans are your friend.

It was a fun day. I enjoyed the early hours of the Marin Fair. It was starting to crowd up when I left about 2pm. I missed Phil's first set, but he and the lads played three sets yesterday in the backyard, and they sounded great! Oh, and as you know, admission was FREE. Cool zoners in attendance. Always a treat to greet and visit with friends and fellow zoners.

"Touch of Grey" at the end of the show was just what this American needed to hear on this 4th of July.

We camped outside of Grand Island, Nebraska. Got food and grog at a Hopcat in Lincoln, I guess there are a few around. Decent food, good regional beer selection  I had a Rediculous IPA by Founders and a California Reuben. I remember reading somewhere that Omaha has a claim as being the birthplace of the reuben. Anyway, Lincoln seemed to have a nice little downtown scene set up for their college students.

Gonna check out one of these rec. shops in CO today on our way through.

Went to see The Deadbeats downtown yesterday, Donation to get in. Last time I saw the Deadbeats was prob. about a decade ago. They were a 6 piece, psychedelic jam/GD cover band.

How things change. They were a trio - drummer may have been orig - prob. ended up w/ ownership of the band name. The two young guys on guitar and bass seemed lost on the two classic rock tunes I made it through before bailing.

Really the worst live music I have tried to listen to in ten years.
