49ers Divisional Round

Forums:

Tough matchup with the Vikings playing well. Everyone seems to think Cousins is over his big game choking habits. I'm not so sure, one big win doesn't erase years of choking. Still an encouraging sign for the Vikings after that big win.

Totally pulling for the 49ers.  GO 49ers !!!!!!

Hardly matters.  Either team will eventually lose to the Packers anyway.

Go Packers!

OH NO!

No fucking Packers for you. Don’t you live in Jets and Giants land Thom? You’re barred from being a packers fan.

And LOL at OP for thinking the Vikings are a tough matchup for the 49ers. They’re going to crush Kirk.

Geographically I should be an Eagles fan (but excepting the miracle two years ago they will always break your heart), and when Flacco (graduate of UD) was in Baltimore I could root for them (and still do if there aren't better options).

But my heart will always be with Green Bay, has been since Super Bowl 1.  As long as they're in the running I root for them.

Sorry to break your heart Bucky, but I'm guessing that I've been a Packers fan longer than you've been alive so I'm not going anywhere.

Well that’s unfortunate

I'm a Redskins fan, so I don't really have a dog in this fight, but I wouldn't close the door on the Seahawks.  Russell Wilson has had an MVP season, and the Hawks are right there with both the Pack and the Niners.   I don't see the Vikings surviving the weekend.

9ers with the week off are gunna roll the Vikes

Hardly worth watching

9ers since kezar and today

>>>I wouldn't close the door on the Seahawks.  Russell Wilson<<<

This. I hate that guy (I don't really, but he's so damn hard to beat) and that team just knows how to win. Fuckers.

The 49ers have a very versatile offense, and for the first time in many weeks their defense is almost back to full strength. If those guys play like they did when they were all together during the first half of the season then the Vikings, and any other team, are going to have to be great to beat them.

But the Vikings are talented as well (and so is Kirk Cousins) and anything can happen when it's one game to go on or go home, but it's hard for me to see the Vikings being able to out-score the 49ers in this one.

This 49ers team is a fun group to root for and it's been fun watching them grow from almost nothing over the past three years, so I'm really looking forward to Saturday.

And thank goodness the game is at Vanilla Stadium, as my neighbors would likely call the cops on Saturday if I had to watch it on TV.

GO NINERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As a Patriots fan I'm rooting for the 49'ers and Jimmy G.. I think it's a fascinating story on many levels.

"Well that’s unfortunate"

I love you to.

"I wouldn't close the door on the Seahawks."

Always dangerous.  I have nothing against Wilson, but their coach...

I few more wins and that sickly stadium will grow on me

c u in the parking lot.    Fun place

>>>I love you to.

it’s “too”, in this instance, fyi.

I've never understood the Pete Carroll hate. Because he's a rah-rah guy on the sidelines?

He's a positive energy guy, what's wrong with that? From all reports he doesn't scream at or demean his players (rare for football coaches), he always has his team up & ready to play well even when they're not that good (like this year) he's intelligent & articulate and he likes the Grateful Dead.

The only problem I have with him is he's damn good at what he does.

Damn it.

As for the other games this weekend, IMO the Ravens will smack the Titans, KC should handle Houston and the Packers are better than the Seahawks... but it's the Seahawks so anything is possible there.

If it works out like it seems it will then next Sunday there will be two really interesting games happening; KC & Mahomes vs. Baltimore & Jackson should be a good game, and SF vs. either Seattle or Green Bay will be good.

Personally I'd much rather not see the Seahags again, I'm sick of those guys, but that would be a really interesting storyline as there has developed a serious rivalry between those two teams and both games they've played this year have been major battles that came right down to the wire.

If it's the Packers then it's another chapter in the long playoff history between those two old-school NFL teams (and I think the 49ers can handle them better than Seattle) so that would be good too and what I would prefer.

Obviously I'm a Niner fan and I want to see them go all the way, but as an NFC loyalist I believe that the 49ers have the best chance of beating the Ravens, so...

Fuck 'em all.

GO NINERS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

pete carroll is a cocky sob.

Gonna be a barnburner- like most playoff games. If Garrop keeps his cool niners should prevail.

Fuck the Packers.  Aaron Rodgers is a media creation.  He SUCKS

I know its not football, but how are San Francisconians feeling about their boy, Aubrey Huff these days?

I think the Seahawks can beat the Packers. However, the Packers have their own 12th man - The refs. They will be the beneficiary of a questionable call at a critical part of the game which will allow them to win. Happens all the time. A phantom holding call or hands to the face or ticky tack roughing the passer. You can bet on that.

That said, the 9ers will crush them in the the NFC champ game and take the refs out of it.

Lamar beats the 9ers in the Super Bowl because, well, he is Lamar Fing Jackson.

As Prince would have said, we'll just put Fitzman over there.

And Aubrey Huff? That's dude is the day before yesterday's news.

If you mean are Giants fans down on him now because a few years ago he admitted to being a dipshit drug addict during his time with the Giants, well we already knew he was a dipshit, that was pretty obvious right from the start with him, and I don't think anyone was later surprised that he was drugged up. But he helped them win their first championship, and he never got caught drugging (shocking!) so I have no issue with him.

As any fan should if they want to enjoy any of the arts, one must learn to separate the art from the artist.

More recent news than that.

He continues to double down on dipshitery, like advocating for kidnapping and raping Iranian women...yesterday.

We should all have issue with ::that::.

Just wondering.

Well then, as Prince would have said, we'll just put Aubrey over there.

And if the 49ers get that far Lamar could definitely beat them, but if the Niners are at full strength, which they were not the first time they played the Ravens, they have the weapons to contain him.

I think a full strength Ravens vs. 49ers Super Bowl would be a real good matchup.

GN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lamar has to get by Mahomes first. AFC Championship will be a fun game, if they both win this weekend. I'd love to see the Ravens take it all.

Yep, the Seahawks are very capable of beating Green Bay. Its also easy to dislike the Seahawks, Carroll constantly chewing gum with his mouth open is just one example, fake crowd noise, ect.

Geographically I should be an Eagles fan>>>>  Packer bandwagon jumper, no better than the cowboy fans all over the US and most of them never stepped one foot in Texas.

Theilen injured during practice yesterday, not a good sign for Kirk. More articles of Kirk shedding the big game choker label this week, what a bunch of bs, he's still a choke artist.

it's funny thom's team is the only collectively owned franchise....like lol....ha ha....rich irony.

impressed by your SF organization Lance. quite the turn around....meanwhile we have had a hall-of-famer qb for 15 yrs and only manged to put like 2 good years around him....

Ha! That's a good observation Turtle. Just another example of how sports can bring EVERYone together.

And damn, a good observation in an Other Stuff sports thread?

Weird.

And IMO it doesn't matter if you're from the town or region of the team you love. As long as you stick with your team through the good & bad.

GO NINERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And sterile stadiums, but that office building Levi's has  a chance to gain some personality or gravitas

When the 9ers win it all

>>>a chance to gain some personality or gravitas<<<

Memories for sure, which are powerful but not the same at personality or gravitas.

It can get real loud in there, but physically the place is just bland, with it's tower of luxury and those weird gaps on either side. Baseball stadiums can have openings for views to the outside, football stadiums should not.

Whatever, personally my seat rocks and overall the place could have been worse.

But just a little bit.

GN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Foghorn, that comment  about Carrol chewing gum with his mouth open is hysterical, and true. but ya gotta like the guy. Quite a history he's had. Didn't he coach the Jets for one shitty season?

What do you mean by fake crowd noise, though?

A number of years ago there were accusations that the Seahawks pumped crowd noise through the speakers when they were on defense.

But common', that's just crazy.

?

Crazy as it may sound, the Seahawks twelfth man is fake noise. Its just a theory really. If you listen to their noise compared to other stadiums it sounds the same more often than not, artificial. I know some teams have admitted and been caught doing this. For the record i don't dislike the Seahawks. Their pick of DK Metcalf was a good one.

First Brady then Brees, if the trend continues the Seahawks upset the Packers and out goes Rogers. Speaking of Brady i predict he signs again with the Patriots. Not having Gronk hurt Brady this year.

Minnesota Vikings vs. San Francisco 49ers (-7, 44.5)

Tennessee Titans vs. Baltimore Ravens (-9.5, 46.5)

Houston Texans vs. Kansas City Chiefs (-9.5, 51)

Seattle Seahawks vs. Green Bay Packers (-4.5, 47)

Okay you local cheese heads, let's get out there!

Packers seek 700 snow shovelers before NFL playoff game

New York (AFP) - Faced with a major winter storm striking their home stadium before they host an NFL playoff game Sunday, the Green Bay Packers are seeking up to 700 snow shovelers.

Lambeau Field and parts of rural Wisconsin are expected to receive eight to 10 inches (20-25 centimeters) of snow Saturday night and early Sunday, so the team wants people to help clear the stadium starting at 6 a.m. Sunday (1200 GMT).

That's just under 12 hours before kickoff as the Packers face the Seattle Seahawks with the winner advancing to the National Conference final -- one step from next month's Super Bowl.

The Packers will provide shovels and pay $12 an hour but they won't be letting shovelers into the game. Vehicles can only park in stadium lots temporarily and when the job is done the vehicles must vacate so ticket holders have room to park.

"it's funny thom's team is the only collectively owned franchise....like lol....ha ha....rich irony."

Nice try, but collective ownership isn't even close to socialism.

The time is neigh

soon come

par-t

Century Link was a good place to see the Stones.  Good acoustics for a stadium.

Part of what gave Pete Carroll a bad rap was that he left USC in shambles when he left for the NFL after he got caught cheating.

Besides that, he's a great offensive coach and motivator.

If Marshawn Lynch gets rolling, watch out.

Let's go Vikings!

Roll Away the Vikes...

Go Niners! I'm on a plan e headed for Mexico, bummed I will miss the game!

Just getting ready to head over to the stadium & soak in the vibe in the lots before going in.

It's a funny thing being a fan of a sports team. It's so odd that I still feel nervous about a thing like this. There's no logical or rational explanation for it, but it sure is fun.

There's always such an intensity to playoff sports, especially inside the venue. I've always loved that energy, and now at my age I have to keep reminding myself throughout the event to just enjoy the spectacle and be happy that I'm there to see it.

A good friend of mine is from Minnesota and is a true-blue Vikings fan. I sure hope the 49ers win, but if not then good for the Vikings and my buddy Tom. He & I will both be up at the Fillmore tonight for a Los Lobos show and a birthday celebration, and whoever wins he & I will hoist a few. It should be a good day.

GO NINERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is awesome

lota lot

time to smile

Nothin left to do but

Looking good 49ers.

Mr Rice - looking sharp at the half...

Go Niners  !

Vikings never showed up... shit was pathetic.

Congrats Niners!

And Ravens lose!

>>>>And LOL at OP for thinking the Vikings are a tough matchup for the 49ers. They’re going to crush Kirk.

yup

Today was a good day.

Theilen injured during practice yesterday, not a good sign for Kirk. More articles of Kirk shedding the big game choker label this week, what a bunch of bs, he's still a choke artist.>>>>

yup

A lot of good pre-game takes in this thread

>>>>Lamar has to get by Mahomes first.

this one didn't age well though

Thr Green Bay Packers

A thing of beauty.

An excellent matchup. Two classic NFL teams that have playoff history.

The 49ers thrashed the Packers earlier this year, but next week likely won't be quite like that; it should be a real good one.

I'm already looking forward to it. This is going to be a long week.

GO NINERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

>>> They will be the beneficiary of a questionable call at a critical part of the game which will allow them to win.

Graham was clearly short of the first down marker there. Russ should've got the ball back.

Early lines:

Niners -7

Chiefs -7.5

They both looked like the best teams this weekend and they have their games at home.

Looks like straight chalk unless something strange happens.

Well, it would have been 4th and an inch so there's a lot of things that could have happened if the refs had screwed up and overturned that obvious first down by Graham at the end of the 4th.Great game from the Pack, they keep chugging along.

They'll be obvious underdogs in SF though, the 49ers are clearly the better team plus there will be a lot of hostility from the Uber-elite/lefty hometown crowd towards the Packers since they are from the Midwest. I'm going to say a little prayer for any Packers fans who travel to the game next week so hopefully they don't get beaten and stabbed in the parking lot or stadium bathroom.

>>>>unless something strange happens

like the titans win again??????

As Prince would have said, we'll just put Bucky over there.

Anything is possible though, and I must say that in my many years some of the most obnoxious road fans I've encountered have been cheese-heads, but I'm willing to accept that has mostly been just bad luck of the draw, because most football/sports fans are pretty much the same.

And personally I do happen to be a southpaw, but I don't use uber.

GO NINERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Uber-elite/lefty hometown crowd towards the Packers since they are from the Midwest.

yup that's me?

bring it

A thing of beauty comes here

The first matchup between the 49ers and Green Bay Packers wasn't a pretty one for those in green and yellow. The 49ers pounded the Packers from the opening kick in a 37-8 win at Levi's Stadium.

Aaron Rodgers' told Jimmy Garoppolo they'd see each other again after the humbling loss, and the Packers star was prophetic. Green Bay advanced to the NFC Championship Game on Sunday with a 28-23 win over the Seattle Seahawks and now will head West to face Garoppolo and the 49ers once again. This time with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line.

The 49ers opened as heavy favorites, but don't expect an exact repeat of Week 12. The bludgeoning showed LaFleur he has to be different.

"I talked to Matt LaFleur about that matchup," Jay Glazer said on FOX's postgame show. "He said 'last time against the 49ers they beat our butts in every area of the game. I know that going into this week, we're going to have to go, somehow find things that other teams have done successfully against the 49ers, and I've got to implement it this week."

During the 37-8 loss, Rodgers went 20-for-33 for 104 yards with one touchdown. He was sacked five times and averaged 1.7 yards per play. Running back Aaron Jones, who feasted all season, was held to 38 yards on 13 carries.

[__RELATED: __Super Bowl is 49ers' to lose with Lamar, Ravens out of way]

LaFleur chucking the playbook out the window and into the Wisconsin snow is exactly the right move. It's the only way they can beat a 49ers team that looked as dominant as ever during their 27-10 divisional-round win over the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday.

He'll have to dig deep to find things the Seahawks, Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints, Los Angeles Rams and Arizona Cardinals did to move the ball successfully against a defense that flustered Rodgers and the Packers back in November.

Best of luck

The 49ers are primed to return to the Super Bowl. Only a major choke will prevent that.

KC over 49ers super bowl

There are some interesting story lines in this matchup.

Matt LaFleur and Kyle Shanahan are very close friends. LaFleur came up the ranks working for Shanahan in Houston, Washington & Atlanta. Now they're facing each other as head coaches for the Super Bowl. Pretty cool.

Also, Lafleur's younger brother Mike works for Shanahan now as the 49ers passing game coordinator. Who's a mother to root for?

To me Rodgers and Garoppolo also have some similarities; both were highly drafted but were allowed to sit in the shadows for their first three years and learn from Hall of Fame stars. Rodgers is the grizzled 15-year veteran superstar with a Super Bowl win and Garoppolo is finishing his first full year as a starter, trying to make his own mark (funny that Garoppolo still has been to more Super Bowls than Rodgers and has more rings). It will be fun to watch those two.

Is it Sunday yet???

GN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this one didn't age well though>>

I'll try to keep them coming so you can have a purpose in life.

Speaking of aging well, not many expected Brady to lose to the Titans. The Ravens being upset was a bit of a surprise not exactly shocking though after Henry beat up on the Patriots like that. Now i guess everyone is expecting the Chiefs to roll over the Titans.

KC over 49ers super bowl>>>>

Talk about playing it safe. Not exactly going out on a limb there. Haha

"The 49ers are primed to return to the Super Bowl. Only a major choke will prevent that. "

As the Ravens (among others) demonstrated, it's the year of the major upset for favored home teams.

Packers will take this one.

>>>> so you can have a purpose in life

thanks man I enjoy pointing out when people are horribly wrong with their sports takes

>>>Packers will take this one<<<

A pretty consistent Thom post - he states a personal opinion as a statement of fact, without providing anything to support his opinion. Hell, he didn't even copy/past someone else's ideas, which is his usual MO, so...

"Packers will could take this one"

Fixed that one for you Thom.

The Packers have a chance because they have a good defense, a star wide receiver and a great, very experienced quarterback. The QB aspect is huge in a game like this and Rodgers is the Packers biggest asset by far.

But the 49ers have a great defense (the most important thing to have), a very versatile and well-coached offense with a QB who while somewhat inexperienced has shown consistently an ability to play well under pressure, and overall are the deeper, more talented team. Add to that the fact that Rodgers one drawback is his relative inability to scramble and avoid pressure/sacks, which now that the 49ers mostly have their full defensive roster back in place is their biggest asset.

The 49ers are favored to win and they should be, as they are the better team, but the better team doesn't always win games like this because at this point all the teams are really good, so games like this are often decided by a lucky break here or there, a bad ref call or an injury.

It should be a great game and ultimately I just hope the winner will "win" the game and not have it decided by the damned refs or some other funky circumstance.

GO NINERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Packers played at the 49ers 7 weeks ago and lost 38-7.

They're going to need a lot of lucky breaks. Let's stop with the fluffing and get real.

>> Matt LaFleur and Kyle Shanahan are very close friends.  <<

Matt was great as Joey in Friends!

Who is this Kyle guy?

>>> Let's stop with the fluffing and get real<<<

I agree Bucky, stop with the 49ers fluffing that the game is in the bag before it's played.

The 49ers did fully whip the Packers that night, but it was a regular season game and the Packers were coming off a bye, something that often flummoxes teams.

The 49ers are the better team but the Packers are in this game for a reason and this isn't a mid-season game, it's the Championship Game; I am expecting them to play a little better than they did that night in November.

Even if they do play better it may not (hopefully) make enough of a difference, but as I said, the better team doesn't always win a one-game playoff, which is, you know, why they play the game.

And please, if we're going to stop doing something in this thread, can we have no more Friends references?

GN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can we also stop calling things horribly wrong that really are not horribly wrong.

Sometimes getting a good butt whoopin can be great motivation material for the next meeting. Should be a good game and you can't really ever take Aaron Rodgers and a healthy Devonte Adams for granted. Should be a tough matchup with the Packers playing well.

Cal Berkeley

and Palo alto high school alumni like myself (Harbaugh lol)

(Kreutzman and even pig attended for two weeks and Joan Baez too)

the pack was will likely get whooped.  But i am still hoping for a good game anyway

Sunday soon come. Hey Lance, I  just saw your business card earlier while cleaning up some...

>>>I  just saw your business card earlier while cleaning up some<<<

Can't imagine why you would have that, but of course my services are always available.

For a slight fee.

GO NINERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think the Packers need a ton of shit to go there way to win, they need to win the turnover battle. I think this will be a closer game and I am hopeful Arron will come out on top. The Packers D is playing way better than they were at the time we faced the 9ers and I do not think we will cough up the ball 3 x's again. My money is on Jimmy G turning it over in this game

GO PACK GO

>>>plus there will be a lot of hostility from the Uber-elite/lefty hometown crowd towards the Packers since they are from the Midwest Thom is their biggliest fan.

I'm not convinced Garoppolo is ready for the big moment quite yet... he threw into coverage a few times and only got picked once last week. It could have been a lot worse.  The Niners ran that ball down the Vikes throats after that, so hopefully that will continue Sunday and JG won't get tested.

GO NINERS!!

Weak sauce Wisconsin  grasp away at straws from your straw house

Sounds like one of the political threads sheesh

Like this doesn't happen at every stadium    Drunken fools

and here is a quote from your article about the event 5 years ago

I'm seeing a lot of comments talking bad about the 49er fans without actually knowing what happened, so....

Here's the full story:
The Viking fan in the video and a 49er fan NOT in the video were talking smack to each other, getting into each others faces. A lot of fans from both sides were telling both people to stop and just walk to their cars. The 49er fan then walked away from the situation and that's when the Viking fan may have got a little cocky. The Viking fan turned around and addressed everyone behind him (mostly 49er fans). He said " what's up, any of you fuckers want some?!" At that point everyone went silent for 2 seconds then as the Viking fan was turning around to walk away, the 49er fan in the black (at the beginning of the video who threw the first punch) tackled him to the ground. T

>>>I'm not convinced Garoppolo is ready for the big moment quite yet<<<

Oh my head, this again.

He's a gunslinger, he plays with confidence and lets it fly, and because of that will likely always throw a few head-bangers, but he also makes some amazing throws that take supreme confidence to fire.

Yes Garoppolo is doing all this for the first time so we don't know FOR SURE how he'll play on Sunday, but from the moment he showed up he has consistently shown that he's ready for the big moments.

IMPO the things I look for in a QB who's "ready for the big moment" are how he responds after making a mistake (Garoppolo is nails after a mistake) how he performs on 3rd downs (Garoppolo is NAILS at converting those, and often makes his best plays in those situations) and how he plays in the 4th quarter and/or when behind (yep, JG has consistently played his best in those situations, at home & on the road). He also stands tough in the pocket and takes the big hits, he has excellent pocket presence and extends plays and he leads the team well, running the huddle and dealing with all the stresses in those moments as well as anyone.

22-5 isn't smoke & mirrors. The 49ers may lose on Sunday and JimmyG may not play well, but he's shown in multiple ways over time that he has the right stuff.

And just for fun since he's often criticized & doubted for throwing INTs, I enjoy reminding people that in the 1981 Championship Game an inexperienced QB was finishing up his first year as a starter for the 49ers, and he threw 3 INTs, lost a fumble and his team was on the verge of losing that game. And then in the 4th quarter he threw a wobbler that Dwight Clark caught to win the game (with some help from Eric Wright).

I've always remembered during the early years of the Walsh/Montana era how many people, fans & media, used to argue that Joe Montana wasn't that good, something that was a consistent storyline that didn't begin to go away until after the 1984 season. And those people were right, Montana, like all QBs, wasn't always that good, but he was when he needed to be.

I'm not saying Garoppolo is as good as Joe Montana, I'm saying it's rough out there and even the best players are going to make mistakes. In this case JimmyG does usually make a few head-scratching throws that make me slam my hat to the ground, but he also throws far more dimes and makes clutch plays in the biggest moments that help win games, including last week.

I'm a JimmyG fan, I believe based on previous performance that he is ready for this moment and I'm looking forward to this Sunday. It will be fun to watch what happens.

GO NINERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

However the game turns out, I just hope that all of the fans return home safe from that stadium.

Even the CEO's, Venture Capitalists and other billionaire disrupters who will fill the stadium in spite of not really being football fans. I honestly feel bad for the regular old 49ers fans who are priced out of supporting the team they grew up with.

Thank you Bucky

yes, The prices are stupid and I often wonder what percentage of their annual budget some of these folks spend - how important it is to them    Priorities

nice post lance    Measured and All true

it will be fun   And one of these deserving teams will win

>>>>Thank you Bucky

You're welcome.

You people have had to put up with a lot of shit that we don't, like having felons and scumbags for owners like the Debartolo's and York's. It's cool you guys stick by your team in spite of all of that and in spite of all of the arrests for rape, DUI and gun possession that the players went through a few years ago. That was crazy!

Hip hip hooray.    long live the 9ers!!!

life is good

Nice!! $200 sounds like a good deal have fun

Great news, LLTD. That's a GREAT price for this game. Have a blast!  I'm jealous.

And get a good buzz on so when the Pack wins, it won't hurt so bad. LOL.

Nice cheese rack

^^ Wisco Ten.

Lance, I think you got me all wrong...  I'm a big fan of Mr Jimmy, but I think we can agree that he's still a bit green and prone to making mistakes that he probably [hopefully] won't make as his career progresses (and I just hope he doesn't lose this very winnable game for them).

Joel, that's awesome man, havablast!  Even if I got a similar deal, I probably couldn't go since it's on my wife's birthday (I will be watching tho!).

Yea take pics. Glad you got tickets to this historic epic event. We can only hope the guy with the cheese stick doesn't show up in the first row.

Go 49ers !

Go Chiefs !

tick tick tick.....

I'm with you googly, your remarks just caught me on a work break & a coffee high so I went into "argument" mode. There are many anti-Garoppolo types out there, many who are 49ers fans, and it wears me out considering what the guy has shown us so far.

I think we're all going to have to get used to JG throwing some bad INTs though, because he is a gunslinger who is completely confident in his skills, so he just lets it fly. But for every gut-grinding bad pass, he throws multiple amazing passes that are just as risky but he snakes 'em in there. I think his resume and his track record of success so far show that the guy is absolutely ready for the big moments, which doesn't mean he's going to play super-great or win the game tomorrow, it just means he's got the right stuff.

BTW, I'm not sure if I'm going to make it to your better half's performance tonight at the 'bwa, but it's on my schedule and if things work out this afternoon I may make the trek over the hill to support the dynomohum!

And right on LLTD! Money is relative, and experiences/memories can be worth way more than a few shekels. The seats next to me last week sold for $800 each, and this week they wanted 1050.00 each and they're off the system so I imagine they have sold (hopefully not to some elite, uber-righty cheeseheads) so you got in relatively cheap.

Speaking of memorable experiences, I just realized yesterday that is was almost exactly 25 years ago that the 49ers played the Cowboys in the NFC Championship Game at Candlestick. The great Aikman/Smith/Irvin Cowboys were going for a 3-peat and the 49ers were trying to avenge playoff losses to those 'boys the two previous years. From the start of that season it was a forgone conclusion that it would come down to those two mega-teams facing off again and that the winner would win the Super Bowl.

Jerry Garcia was playing a run of shows at the Warfield that same weekend so I stayed in the city and went to Saturday's show. I was so amped for the game that I likely drank more alcohol that night than I ever have before or since but I never got drunk. Jerry and the band played great that night and I had a raging good time.

The game the next day lived up to the hype and the 49ers won in glorious fashion. Aikman & the Cowboys gave it all they had, but the 49ers had just a little bit more that year. After fully soaking in the revelry in the lots after the game I went back to the Warfield that night, completely gassed but glowing, and celebrated the momentous victory with Jerry and my favorite people in one of my favorite places in the world.

THAT was a great weekend and is a GREAT memory where multiple details are still crystal clear all these years later. I have no recollection of how much I paid, but how much is that experience worth to me 25 years later?

I sure am looking forward to tomorrow, and I sure am happy that 25 years later I still get to have these moments.

GO NINERS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GO PACK GO

packers_0.png

Getting ready to head over to the stadium.

I'm nervous about this game. All the talk this week has been about the 49ers & their defense, but the Packers defense is good too.

The 49ers are favored to win and they should be, but the Packers can win if they get turnovers and Rodgers plays great, and both of those things are very possible. This game is set up for the Packers to be saying after the game, "All week all we heard was 49ers defense, 49ers defense, 49ers defense, but we have a defense too!!!"

It should be a good game, and if the 49ers play well and don't cough up multiple turnovers they should win.

I sure hope they do.

GO NINERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

>>>.. but we have a defense too!!!"

We heard that already back in week 1 when GB stopped the Trubisky lead offensive juggernaut of the Bears.

Go Niners!

Just glad to be able to watch two good teams duke it out. Packers have a tough uphill climb to the trophy. Having to beat SF and KC? If they do that, they deserve it. Have fun ya'll.

Did they just play Phish going into the commercial?

Yes. and they just played estimated prophet going into the last one.

Yeah....Phish, then the Dead.

You hear more jam band music on the freakin' NFC Championship game than on any commercial radio station.

Sad, but WINNING !!!!

This is not going as planned.

Nothing surprising here. The Packers just aren't that good. They had a soft schedule in a weak division and didn't beat anybody good. Sure, they beat KC, but that was without Mahomes who will probably be the league MVP.

That said, there is still another half left. Any given Sunday and all that...

Yeah I feared that. Packers just didn't have the consistency this year and were lucky to get as far as they did. Their wins just weren't that convincing.

ok pseudo Packer fans - you can pack it in--see ya next year.

All right now

I don't love that journey song

But it sure was nice singing it  with all the fans during that celebration

Don't stop believing

 Congratulations, 49'er fans!

Best Stat of the game:

consolation to pack defense: they set the speed record for chasing Mostert...

Go 49ners!!!!

Well THAT was fun.

Five long years in purgatory, suffering in that bland stadium.

Still missing Candlestick on a day like this, but the place was grooving today, and how could it not. What a game, what a team, what a party.

Now, a HUGE challenge, vs. a team & coach I really like.

Fuck 'em.

GO NINERS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, and how crazy is it that the winning QB of a 37 - 20 game only threw 8 passes for 77 yards.

The Niners blocking was awesome, but Packers, if you can't stop the run you don't deserve to be there.

I suppose now many will continue with the "Garoppolo still hasn't proven himself" business.

That's fine.

The six passes he hit were on the mark. He's ready when needed.

GN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not surprising.

The Packers were punching above their weight at this point. Sometimes regular season games mean something, and obviously in this case it did as once again the 49ers proved that they are better than the Packers, especially in California with that crowd. 37-20 is actually flattering towards the Packers. Congrats to the 49ers for proving that tanking works. Their little scheme to get Bosa has paid off so far. I didn't think his casual racism and homophobia would go over well in the Bay Area but I guess people can look the other way at certain personality quirks when that someone is a great football player.

As for the SB I'm normally an NFC supporter but it's tough to root for the Venture Capitalist billionaires and Silicon Valley disrupter bros who want to save the world but can't keep San Francisco from being the homeless capital of the USA. OR on the other hand I can root for the people of Missouri. A bunch of racists with an anti-abortion chaser who just won the Stanley Cup too.

Go 49ers?

Just wow

heartfelt congratulations from left field ...Rant  (and the opposite of focusing on the positives) Way to step up..

Hating May be harmful for your soul,

but be who you choose to be

Even as a patriots fan I agree with this. It's been kind of exhausting

Chiefs for the Super Bowl!

Packers didn't provide much competition perspective, their performance so bad, they were out of the game before kickoff. I like the excitement of that Patrick Mahomes.

Chiefs for a change
