Not sure if there's been a previous video release of this show, but too lazy to check & it's always worth a re-watch / listen.
As much as I liked the Q and am generally an easy customer, this was my favorite lineup!

Funny, I just re- stumbled
Funny, I just re- stumbled across the 4/16 yesterday and gave it another listen. The first night was one of the most memorable Phil shows I've experienced. But I think the musicians really gelled for the next two.
(Is Trey really as tall as he appears in these videos? Maybe cause Kimock is usually sitting...but he just seems taller than I expect)

I love how Kimock rips a tasty lick during Morning Dew and looks over to Trey,..."who's your Jerry now, Phishboy?"

I was a bit gassed at this
I enjoyed this show, but I was a bit gassed that night, having gone "all in" on the first two shows, and having FULLY enjoyed both, so I don't think I've ever appreciated the 17th as much as I probably should have, either at the time or over the years.
Whenever I think of this run of shows I always think of the first two nights, but whatever any of our personal experiences or opinions of this run were or are, those three shows stand in history as classics.
The beginning of something and the continuation of something truly great.
Something that continues to this day.

I remember the incredible
I remember the incredible buzz and anticipation when these shows were announced. When I finally got a cassette, it was most of set 1 of 4/15 only. What a tease.
Turned some fellow heads on to the you tube of 4.16 set 2 on my TV and the room was hypnotized for 2 hours.
Damn - if only Phil & Jill had paid Kimock to stay on....

These were tough tickets.
These were tough tickets. Very tough. I do recall mail ordering for them. 3x5's. Natch.
John Fishman on the floor the first night, knocking down beers and having a great time.
And similar to Lance I've always awarded more gravitas toward nights 1 and 2 but I was also worn a bit thin by the 3rd go-around.
This was the first time I became aware of John Molo and always assumed it was his first full gig with Phil. Pretty sure he was still touring around with Hornsby at this time.

when was molo's 1st phil show
when was molo's 1st phil show and how did he get the gig?>>>
John Molo was Hornsby's drummer. The first gig was 4/20/1998 at the Warfield. That was the Other Ones first attempt but with Stan Frank's on guitar. After this gig, they dropped Stan Franks and procured Kimock & Karan. Molo of course did the Other Ones gigs, and then in 1999 pretty much started gigging with Phil with Phil, Kimock & Molo being the core of rotating "friends"
