This should be a great series. I wouldn't automatically expect the Sox to roll. A lot of stuff went right in the Yanks and Stros series and chances are a few bounces may not go their way in this round. Is Sale going to regain his form? Can Price throw another good game? Will the pen finally implode? We will see.
Best guess is Sox in 6 unless Kimbrel coughs up a game. Then Sox in 7. Or Dodgers in 7 if Kimbrel melts down in 2 games. I'll couch it that way.
Sox in 7 in a classic series between 2 storied franchises....
I think keys for Sox are Eovaldi, and Porcello...as far as im concerned, ill take whatever we get from Sale, (as im still convinced he s more hurt than we know), and anything we get out of Price is a bonus.....
I wish Cora would take Swihart off roster and add Brian Johnson, or even Bobby Poyner...we may need all the pitchin we can get
As a Red Sox fan first and a Giants fan second this has been one hell of a run. I was in the Black Rose in Boston when they won the ALCS and yes it's mostly a tourist bar but have to say it Boston was amazingly subdued for going to another World Series. Anyway Boston in 7 with the sweet added joy of beating LA.

Maybe a real first baseman showed him how to do a "stretch" during practice today....his lack of a stretch cost them two outs last night on potential double plays....inexcusable to give Sox extra outs....
Benentendi...and he, jackie bradley junior, and mookie will shine in that expansive Dodger Stadium outfield....Roberts made huge mistake benching his left handed hitters vs Sale and Price. I dont get it. How you can leave Muncy, Pederson, and Bellinger on bench is beyond me. And , il say it again, starting Freese at first is a joke, the guy hasnt played there all year, and very little over lengthy career. He s getting totally outmanaged by Cora, and you cant afford to do that when facing an equal or superior team.
Dodgers cross a picket line and betray a proud heritage
They’ve been standing on a picket line for almost all of October, employees of some of Boston’s most posh hotels who are calling for more generous treatment from their corporate overlords. Their protests have brought together activists, allies from other labor unions, and the city’s labor-friendly mayor.
Correction....i just looked it up...over 1,000 game career, Freese has played first base 99 times, including some this year for both Pitt and L.A.
That just makes him a baaaad first baseman. He s had enough time there to learn position, but he is a liability for Dodgers there. Lets just hope they keep him there.....;)
"Dodgers cross a picket line and betray a proud heritage"
This is a curious one, "T.O.D", in fact Ive always been curious about this aspect of professional sports, namely the behind the scenes related to hotel accomodations, travel, etc.
The Dodgers, MLB and Boston found out about where and who would be playing in the WS a few days before the actual date. Are there are plethora of hotels available, on short notice, to accomodate the entire Dodger, or any organization, for that matter for the series? Are they expected to hunt around at the last minute and stay at a Motel 6 in Walpole?
Once a team is in contention for a WS berth I'm sure reservations are made for all possible combinations - to be canceled as the possibilities become fewer.
What the hell was Cora thinking pitching to Puig with a base open and the .205 hitting catcher on deck? If the Dodgers come back and win this, that decision will be heavily scrutinized.
Puig hit a ground ball to kinsler....no biggie to kinsler throws it away....no scrutiny needed, although we were all wondering same...basic answer, you dont ever wanna put winning run on...we thought theyd pitch "around" him....(we being about 6 of us etc)...cora had eovaldi go right at him though....
Eovaldi almost won them a game that woulda put them up 3-0...i got no problem w it....and, eovaldi can still start a game 7 if it goes that far...
Sale in 5, Price in 6, eovaldi in 7...porcello only went 4 tonite, so , he ll be next one "thrown to wolves" as Coras 8th inning rover/starter....none of this looks bad on Cora.....if they win
Call it crazy, or questionable if they lose series, but atrocious?? Ya, i dont think so....but, we can disagree on that...
That one game lasted longer than the combined times of the New York Yankees four game sweep of the Cincinnatti Reds in the 1939 World Series. Crazeballs.
That play the Sox 3rd baseman made in the 9th was amazing, and he led the league in errors? Shows what the World Series can do.
Machado once again goes out of his way to step on the 1st baseman's foot; on the biggest stage he is proving himself to be a pure punk. I didn't know that's what his deal was, and maybe that's always been the case but he played for a bad team so it wasn't so obvious, but it's on full display now and it's indisputable. No one should touch that guy this off-season. Major league loser.
It's pretty clear that Puig will never understand how to be a professional. Dude is super talented but is and will always be WAY too locked into himself at all times. He'll never achieve his amazing potential.
Devers made a solid big league play. What surprised me was that he still nailed Manny by a full stride. I don't remember him being that slow. The O's teams he was a part of weren't bad until this year, Lance. Manny is just coming into his prime years, and will get a huge contract from one of the big money franchises.
Puig seems to have a hard time keeping focused. ADD?
In May, June or July that's a solid big league play. In the 9th inning of a huge World Series game it was a great play, especially if he's normally a brick, and he LAUNCHED that throw, on a dime. Machado may or not be slow but that was a big-time play and a BIG-time throw.
And I didn't say a team wouldn't sign him, I said no one SHOULD sign him.
Dude's a punk & a loser. He makes Barry Bonds look good.
Totally agree, if machado or bellinger had reached , Puig woulda come up to plate, representing tying run, and with the crowd going nuts, Kimbrel may have soiled himself....Devers not only made that play, but had that huge pinch hit single earlier....
He was sent down to minors in late july, and told to work on D, his focus at plate, and his attitude! Kid has a boatload of talent at 22, and i think has the chance to become a solid third baseman...even reminds me of a young Adrian Beltre, who basically went from having stone hands, to a gold glove...but, it took him years.....mookie, benentendi, bogaerts, bradley jr, devers, ....these guys are soooo young, Sox are gonna be fun to watch for years now, especially when Yankees are loaded w young talent as well....tampa, toronto, and baltimore may as well start petitioning commish now for re-allignment....;)
Another career-defining moment for Kershaw tonight.
That guy is so damn good, and by all accounts he's as quality a person as he is a pitcher so even as a Giants fan it's hard for me to root against him, but as dominating as he has always been he's never been able to carry that greatness into the post-season.
But tonight it's all on the line. He's their horse, their hero, their best player, and he's pitching for his teams life.
Congatulations to the Red Sox and their fans. You had the best team this year, and deserved to win it. Going through the Yankees, Astros and Dodgers was a good measure of this team's abilities.
Except for that clown Machado, I was impressed with the sportsmanship in this series. Nice to see chuckling conversations at the bases. Not sure you'd see that attitude in an NBA championship game.
Saw the interview with the Dodgers' Justin Turner the other night. Nice guy. I could root for him.
Only right that the winningest team in baseball is crowned champions, though I'd rather have the home fans who supported the team all year be there for the occasion. But I'll take it.
Like Dave said, going through the 100-win Yanks, the 103- win defending champion Astros, and then the best of the National League was a real test and they went 11-3.
Counting the 17-2 spring training, they lost less than 60 games since April (136 - 59). Congratulations to the Red Sox!
Anti-climactic.
The whole series. The whole season. Small wonder the sox win in the age of trump when everything in the country resembles quantum reality. Up is down right is wrong fact is fiction. Suckness and patheticism the new norm. Actual baseball greatness a thing of the past.
Keep me posted if them fenway pretenders ever go back to back. Or back to back to back. Or get close to 125
Fucking loser fans so dense, they think they're watching something special. Millennial mutton heads
I was actually gonna give it to Price, but after his post game press conference I realize he's still a totally self absorbed asshole so I'm glad Pearce got it...
I probably watched about 30 to 40 Red Sox games this season, and I don’t know what magic potion they drank for the playoffs but that was not the same pitching staff. Does Hanley Ramirez get a ring?
Had a great time watching the Red Sox win the series while I was in the Dominican Republic. Lots of great baseball fans in The DR - even some crybaby Yankee fans.
Great season for Red Sox fans and their beloved team - and good on Hooper for his prediction in the second post of this thread.
You pick a team, and choice of 4, 5, 6, or 7 games...what would have been much more impressive wouldve been if any of us predicted WHOLE playoffs corrrectly...i had boston vs milwaukee....you had colorodo winning a series, and cleveland too, ...fact is, none of us did real well pre playoff start .
Plus - Herbal Dave loses points for his pictures of Buckner and Bucky Dent, etc in this thread trying to bring the Sox bad juju via Viva.
And on top of that - he roots for a team that for many years included the biggest asshole in MLB (who will most likely be a Yankee next year) "Spikey" Machado who most of the Dominicans I met are ashamed of.
They do love Papi and Pedro in the DR, though - but they do roll their eyes on Manny Ramirez. lol
Dont know about herbal dave, but, i bet on sox in all 5....figured theyd win series, and worst id do would be to about break even if thy won 4-3 (w odds etc)....was hoping for a sweep, and got next best thing....;)
You're right, Jambone, I scotched the prelims, but I did get the finalists right and made the Sox in 5 call. I'm okay with, and expected the usual snubbery.
Sure wish I had ponied up some dough, but I've never been much of a bettor. Maybe I should start? Probably not gonna throw any money at the O's 300-1 odds to win the 2019 World Series.
Yes, you did get that right...ill give ya that...its just that you also pointed it out twice....im just busting your balls.....good pick....and, damn, if i knew you were an O s fan, i woulda gone a lil easier on you....;)

That play the Sox 3rd baseman

He'll never earn that money.
