Radiohead
Rage Against the Machine
Rufus featuring Chaka Khan
Nina Simone

The Moody Blues for sure.

Kate Bush

Dire Straits

Radiohead

Rage Against the Machine

Kate Bush skeeves me out.

Link Wray, Sister Rosetta. MC5, Meters, Geils, Priest

Lol

Nina Simone or go home.

Still no King Crimson - guess they haven't been around long enough.

But oh yeah, LL Cool J.

No Crims, and no Little Feat.

Sigh...

of these nominees, I guess to pick 5...

Dire Straits
Eurythmics
The Meters
Rage Against the Machine
Sister Rosetta Tharpe

Out of all those names, the slam dunk looks like...  Bon Jovi.   People love that mainstream shit.

Folks also love the Eurythmics and Depeche Mode.

I personally think the Cars have a good shot.

Meters would be great but why hook them up while Art is still with us (that would be too kind).

Donde es el Phish?

My guesses on who gets it:

Bon Jovi

Eurythmics

The Cars (god, I hate the fucking Cars)

The Meters

Radiohead

My choices if I was in charge:

The Meters

Kate Bush

Judas Priest

Dire Straits

Rage Against the Machine

>>>>>Kate Bush skeeves me out.

Ha! I am a big fan, but can certainly understand why she is not everyone's cup of tea.  What exactly about her skeeves you out?   The high pitched voice?  Her general weirdness?

Let them all in, what does it matter at this point

if football was like rock and roll Tim Tebow would be in Canton

MC5

otherwise I couldn't care less

<<<Nina Simone or go home.

then you should try Jayz's "The Story of OJ"

What exactly about her skeeves you out?   The high pitched voice?  Her general weirdness? <<<<<

Yeah, both those.  She's just too batshit crazy for my tastes, and her music does zilch for me.  Much like Sixer's Radiohead, or St. Mark's MMJ, she's one of those Emperor Wears No Clothes artists IMHO.

Oh, and Nina Simone?  Really?  She had zero influence on Rock & Roll, unlike either Sister Rosetta Tharpe or Link Wray.  Her nomination is just more hipster posturing and ass-sniffing.

Moody

Dire

Everyone else meh

Cringe anarchy.

>>>>She's just too batshit crazy for my tastes,

Huh?  What could you possibly mean.

>>  She had zero influence on Rock & Roll

What influence did Bob Marley have? Did he had any (good) influence?

Did Rita Coolidge have any solid influence?

Gram Parsons?

they can get nominated again right? No clue cuz thought it was weird.  How many each year?

my pick 5:

bon jovi, cars,  dire straits. moody blues and zombies

not who I want to get in but I think these 5 will make it for various reasons.

>>>they can get nominated again right?

Yes. Here is the official website and it indicates how many times each of the bands/artists have been nominated:

J Geils Band is on its fifth nomination and considering dude died this year, I suspect they will finally make the cut for what its worth.

This year's nominees have few slam dunks and a lot of choices that one can make a solid argument for inclusion.

I would like to see the MC5, The Zombies and LL Cool J make the cut. All three were hugely influential. As a side note, as far as I'm concerned, LL Cool J's song, I Need Love, is one of the best songs ever written.

Definitely the Moodies and the Meters, those two are inevitable. Dire Straits and J. Geils. Maybe the Zombies.

Fuck Radiohead.

No. Other then the Moody Blues/Meters/Giles, this is truly the bottom of the barrel and not one of these other bands deserves to be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

I am a Dire Straits fan of their music, but they shut down the pop shop way too early.

I would hate to see MC5 & LL Cool J & Bon Jovi in. Rufus is on the wrong song sheet here.

Bon Jovi
Dire Straits
J. Geils Band
The Meters

Nina Simone
Sister Rosetta Tharpe

eurythmics

sentimental pick....j. geils band ( not 1, but 2  great live albums capture this band at its best, both long before MTV, and "geils")

rrhof.jpg

I think they should have inducted more than just these. Is it a rule they can only allow so many a year? Should do more

No Meters AGAIN???

Nothing new - but it's getting ridiculous.

And as long as The J. Geils Band is not in the RnR HOF - it is seriously NOT really rock nor roll

No J. Geils, no Meters and...

NO LITTLE FEAT!

Dangit! It makes me angry

>>Fuck Radiohead.

There, there...no surprise you have knives out.

Karma Police said no. There must be some Paranoid Android. They'll just be Packed Like Sardines anyways.

In a new RS interview, Justin Hayward doesn't rule out a classic lineup Moodies reunion for the HOF induction.
