1st time at Red Rocks tonight

Forums:

Hello friends been out the zone for a bit due to password issues but thanks to admin/Judit I'm back in the black

Red Rocks questions:

1. Where to park?

2. What time should I arrive?

2.5   Where should I sit?

3. What's the best way to get pipe/weed/lighter into the venue with no hassle(reggae show tonight)

thanks in advance

p.s any good breakfast joints nearby? Staying in Lakewood...

It is worth the effort to arrive early to park in one of the upper lots. The South Upper Lot was easy in and out, here's a map:

The big advantage is that these lots are almost level with the top of the amphi, so it's an easier walk to the entry line.

I like Golden, Co for breakfast as it's a cute small town w/ a river running through it, but if you're in Lakewood, Morrison restaurants would make better sense. I rely on Google Map app reviews to choose restaurants when traveling.

enjoy!

Always get there early, for parking and just to dig the place. Don't sit too close to the stage-- middle of the venue is best for the views. The stage is only one part of the show! Enjoy!

Lot opening time and other details here^^^

If you get directed, just tell them you have friends you need to meet in the Upper South lot ;).

> What's the best way to get pipe/weed/lighter into the venue with no hassle

It's been a while since I've been to the Rocks, but as long as those things won't trigger a metal detector, carrying them in your pockets should work fine.

I have a nice rubber pipe with a glass bowl that snaps in that is undetectable, or just take in a few joints and Ohio matches

WHOOOO HOOOO, Last time I was there was 3 nights of The Grateful Dead in 1985, Im still looking for my truck in Camp Chief Hosa.... Have a Blast Brother!!!!!

DZ , great to see you! Have a blast.

I second the emotion of parking at the top

Hope you have had or are having an amazing time

Hope it was a fun time!
We went for the first time last year, for JRAD.
They're really the only band we consider traveling for any more.
They are not at Red Rocks this year, but the lil Amphitherter in Vail is amazing, and the Dillon place looks cool too...

Golden Diner was a good breakfast.

Where to park?   Preferably in the parking lot.

What time should i arrive?   preferably before the show starts, not after its over

Where should i sit?   On a chair

Whats the best way to get pipe/weed/lighter into the venue without a hassle?   Gummy will work, eat them about 1/2 hour prior to show time.  There is another way for pipes and lighters, as they do not do anal searches at the gate LOL

Have a great show

Stick Figure. How can a band with adoring fans fill Red Rocks and sing along and know all the words and I never heard of them?

They aren't reinventing the wheel but they use bits and pieces of bands we love and put them together in an enjoyable way.

Stephan Marley's set was good. He played a few deep cuts as well as the hits and interestingly during To The Rescue a rainbow appeared as he sang the lyric: I'm a rainbow too(MULLY)

We showed up late and had to shuttle to the top.  I took your advice and didn't wear a belt with a buckle. Put my keys and lighter and phone in my hands a raised over my head as walked through the detector and smiled at the guy as I walked by.

Stopped for beverages then walked to the right into the bowl. Decided to jump in three rows from to do a recon. Decided it was best to stay near the beverages and bathrooms. Ended up 1 row from the top dead center. Glad we did

Stick Figure's light show is next level, including Pink Floyd type lasers which I'm a sucker for. Thumping bass, great harmonies. I didn't get all the lyrics but the were mostly about love and ganja.

AND a ripping guitarist I never heard of. He owned the room on several occasions including a note for note copy of Dave Gilmours solo in Time. God I wish I saw Jerry there.

Then we had a 30 minute wait for the shuttle after the show but it was nice interacting with the fans. Totally chill group of people. I saw no evidence of hard drugs and there were no tanks in the parking lot after the show.

Then the next night this guy came to town. One of the first acts in a brand new $50 million theater

with Jimmie Dale Gilmour and the Guilty Ones. I thought I read on the Zone Dave Alvin doesn't tour outside of California anymore due to health issues. But I'm sure glad he did! Been a fan for years but never saw him live. True living legend

Go to the show!!

on a side note saw these guys the weekend before and their bass player deserves your attention

So happy for your good time

Dave Alvin is a treasure, glad you got to see him!

Dave and Jimmie are some of my heros.  Glad you caught them there.

You're hearing the good stuff, in good places, DZ.

Yes, GTTS.

my first Red Rocks show was in the summer of '81 - Springsteen - The River Tour 8/16/81...

then i spent my HS years - '81 - '84 at almost every red rocks show i could get into...

ONE regret , there was this un- known band from Ireland and tho i was offered a freebie i passed because the weather was shite that day and night....yeah, you know who i passed on...

last show i saw @ RR was Gary Clark Jr and Tedeschi Trucks in 2014 when i skipped the first night of my 30th HS reunion

Hey, going to my first Red Rocks adventure for my 3rd Panic show. I was kinda itching to go to all 3 but settled on Sunday. I'm super excited to go to RR, wanted to my whole life. Became to appreciate WP when a bud had extras and on and on it goes! A great community too, met very nice people out there.

Anyone in attendance Sunday 6/29? It would be nice to tip a beer with you.
