Fortis said that once their group caught the last group off the opposite side, things got more bizarre.
“He would chip shots and scoot his ball around on the tee box just to add strokes, and then he would just pipe a 2-iron down the middle of the fairway, hit it on the green and then just scoot his ball around again with his putter,” Fortis said. “He’d be right next to the hole and then I guess he’d think to himself that he didn’t have enough strokes and he’d hit his ball in the opposite direction of the hole.”
Bilardello’s second nine included a 25 on the par-4 second, 21 on the par-4 fourth and a closing par on the par-5 ninth.
Golf is generally boring for me to watch, but these British courses are visually entertaining and the players are usually getting their asses kicked by the course & the weather.
It's only interesting to watch for me if the players are working their ASSES off just to hold par. I'm interested on Sunday when there's less than five players under par.
He got a 20 year British Open exception for winning in 2001.
In all fairness to the guy, he scored a 14 on the 7th hole. Take that away, and he shot +9 for the day. Not great, but right with some other Tour pros who play tournaments more often than him.
Thanks Dave. I can't remember the last time I heard Duval mentioned.
Go Speith!
And I love the cluelessness of people who minimize the skill involved in this sport. You try hitting a small ball into a hole it can barely fit into that is 500 yards away and do it in four strokes.
Solid round is a bit of an understatement eh? -8 round was pretty sick.
A couple of other observations on two fan-favorites. Poor Lee Westwood. Such a great guy but has never won a major in 80+ attempts and now he has a chick on his bag. For his sake I just hope it’s not an American broad. And what about JB Holmes. Again, everyone loves the guy but he really can’t deliver when it matters.
Shame for Brooks that he isn’t putting well because he would be winning this tourney too.
Speaking of the Irish, do you know why there's only 239 beans allowed in an Irish bean soup? If you added one more, it'd be 240. (Use your Irish accent.)
Wonder if it was "the troubles" that kept the Open away from Northern Ireland all these years? Royal Portrush is a good course. Hope it gets into a more regular rotation.
Lol, Slickrock. Just put on your best Pirate accent, you'll figure it out Slacker.
I think it was the logistics of the event that caused the delay. I'm not sure that there's another course in Ireland that could handle the crowds. They had to redo the 17th and 18th holes in order to accommodate the grandstands that traditionally line the approach to the 18th green.
It is a great course and I hope to see the event held their again.
Apologies to whoever may have watched the other version...the Bob Weir negativity is something I always avoid, even the reference at the end of that video is not only inappropriate and void of relevance, but in poor form. The idiot squad of the Bob Weir absurdity is often an obstacle to enlightenment.
* such a large fatty circle in the hallway during intermission, easily 117 people or so, the security guards who were notoriously strict at MSG just smiled as if to tell us all was groovy.
