Tonight @7 on Showtime Oliver Stone's 2021 documentary JFK Revisited Through The Looking Glass

Thirty years after acclaimed director Oliver Stone’s first examination of JFK’s assassination, Stone reassesses the horrific event that shaped a generation. Using newly declassified and reexamined files and footage, Stone presents a case that conspiracy theories about the president’s death are actually “conspiracy facts.” Narrated by Whoopi Goldberg and Donald Sutherland.

I was 3 years old when JFK was assassinated, and one of my first memories is of this time. The regular TV schedule was disrupted by round-the-clock news coverage of this event.

I heard some old time radio clips over the weekend from ABC news from the day.

So many errors until the facts got straight.  They had LBJ shot in the arm and then later a heart attack, neither true of course.

Despite the thrill of conspiracy LHO was the shooter.  Others maybe/likely helped in some way but the evidence is not there yet.  I will watch Stone's thing tonight but skeptical.

I was in sixth grade.  This was the second event that crushed my childhood innocence, the first being MLK leading the Albany Movement in my little podunk town in 1962, the third being Beatles on Sullivan in early 64.

5th grade field trip to Temple Emmanuel and the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in NYC on that day. We were perplexed as to why all these folks were coming into the Catholic church crying and praying.

^ That Cathedral is actually Episcopalian / Anglican.  There's another big one downtown,  which is Catholic.

The Mafia connection to the murder ties in to Robert Kennedy, the Attorney General, going full force against the mob.  This may have been payback, especially from the Chicago organization.

Saw Mickey Hart about 4 or 5 times at Cathedral of St. John the Divine in NYC. Great shows and place. Paul Winter Solstice shows.

I was in the 10th grade, at Hollywood High School. Midway through the afternoon the news came through the classrooms and school was let out for the day. I sat under a tree and wept, feeling really sad for the potential I'd worked for.

Thanks Raz I've been meaning to watch JFK  again I'm sure I'll dig the 30year

Bump - showtime

Same here, except I was in 7th grade, and the MLK march I walked in with my dad was in Boston in 65.

These were handed out in Dallas on the day of the assassination. The only difference between then and now is that the wack jobs have fully taken over the Republican party

I didn't march, unfortunately the adults around me in Jim Crow Albany, GA would never let that happen but it was the initial event that caused the scales to fall from my eyes.

One memory is sitting across the table from my mother and I asked her what all the commotion was about.  To my racist parents credit they did not use racist language in front of us so she was struggling to answer me, finally blurting out " I guess he wants them to vote."

To which I answered, "Colored people can't vote?"  Colored was the polite term in that time and place.

We both knew something had changed at that moment.

A little over a month ago gwtcswc(joe) and I were pretty dosed walking around  downtown Dallas and sort of came back to Dealy Plaza a couple  of times.  We stopped , looked , talked about the location and realized suspicious actions from another pedestrian getting close to us.  It was time to get on down  the road.

Super informative show, great job Stone. Never knew how fucked our foreign police was since the CIA was formed,, never knew the shit they got away with all over the globe. They did in JFK no doubt in my mind, the planning, execution and cover up of the crime is all CIA.  With the backing of the Pentagon brass, they were much more powerful than the president himself. War and chaos is a lot more lucrative than peace and stability. This show answered a lot of questions that never got asked at the time,  because to do so meant curtains for you. Shame all these CIA criminals are dead now, they should have been brought up on charges to the World Court. That Allen Dulles was quite the mutherfucker, not to mention what a POS Gerald Ford was.  So much US history in this show I never knew about,  I have to watch the rerun at 6pm est today just to soak more of it in.

Man does the USA SUCK

Jaz, wasn't John Kennedy Jr., was it?

>That Allen Dulles was quite the mutherfucker<

may I recommend The Devil's Chessboard ? Good read if you can stomach it.

Thank's I'll give it a shot. Last nights show was eye opening yet hard to handle,, not for the faint of heart,, most disturbing.

Don't get showtime. Will keep an eye out for when it goes "public".

I live here in Dallas and yesterday was my 7th wedding anniversary
Last night we went to the Van Gogh exhibit in the same area so we took a little walk

where did we park ;-)

I'm still not sure.

I was thoroughly convinced after the Zapruder film was made public, long before the JFK movies. The movies Stone put out just confirmed it all,, amazing reasearch. The number of eye, ear and nose (smelled the gunpowder discharge) witnesses who gave statements about the grassy knoll shooter was overwhelming. The man under the overpass hit with a piece of the curb after the 1st missed shot also convinced me there was no fewer than 3 shooters.

Our CIA kills. The only thing missing from Stone's research was the name dick cheney.

If I recall the Stone movie connected Mafia Don Carlos Marcello of New Orleans to the assassination?????

Carlos Marcello, Sam Giancana, lots of letters in the conspiracy alphabet soup,, many angles to confuse you. But only our Gov't, the CIA with help from the FBI and Pentagon could have pulled off what went down in Dallas that day. Not to mention back in DC during Kennedy's autopsy reconstruction to match the govt's account of what happened. The interviews with participating doctors was chilling.  Did you watch this latest Stone movie, how about the original JFK ?  Lots of valuable info to study up on since it's been declassified. The Warren Report was a total whitewash. Arlen Specter and his magic bullet theory is a fairy tale.

Try n see what's goin down, try and read between the lines.

I don't get Showtime. Sounds interesting. Is this Stone's conclusion:  "our Gov't, the CIA with help from the FBI and Pentagon could have pulled off what went down in Dallas that day."?

That's the best part, Stone gives no conclusions at all, he sits back, conducting some interviews, and presenting recently declassified documents and lets you make up your own mind. Tons of valuable info presented, then the movie just ends. That conclusion is mine.

Finished it the other night. It was aight . I thought it would be a lot better.
