UK Ariana Grande concert Explosions ??

Forums:

Something funny happened in Manchester. Hopefully just a blown lighting board or speaker.

I've been afraid of a weaponized Ariana Grande for a while now.

"Police dealing with a “serious incident” in Manchester have confirmed a “number of fatalities”amid unconfirmed reports of an explosion."

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2017/may/22/manchester-arena-police-...

One report is that some large balloons popped causing people to panic and  stampede when they believed a bomb exploded or they heard what they thought was gunfire.

Good thing we have everybody so scared about terrorism.

Twenty dead.

>> One report is that some large balloons popped causing people to panic and  stampede when they believed a bomb exploded or they heard what they thought was gunfire.

Cite your sources, Nancy. From all indications there was an explosion and reports indicate there was gunfire.

"Jade Baynes, who is from Hull, said she was told to run by armed police after leaving the arena." -BBC
Don't think armed police would respond in that manner to some large balloons popping.

Trying to remember who it was that made had a good laugh at the idea that were concerts becoming the targets of organized acts of violence.  Was that Brick? Classy guy.

Nothing looked blown up in the arena in the video I saw.  Not like I've got the inside info from Fresno.  But it wouldn't surprise me.

As soon as the Times Square "car accident" happened I thought it was disgusting/funny how quick Islamic terrorism was being hinted at.

>>>>>Was that Brick? Classy guy.

Brick would be the last person to claim he's classy and the first to admit he's a racist.  Love that guy.  Wish he'd sack up and post here.

Don't have the big scoop here in Boston either, but that BBC News live blog has some gnarly pictures.

"British Police Confirm Deaths After Explosion At Manchester Arena Concert"
http://www.wbur.org/npr/529588482/british-police-confirm-deaths-after-ex...

The interwebs are now reporting it was a nail bomb set off in the foyer as the kids were leaving the show.   There is a dash cam video showing what appears to be an explosion.

Too bad Cosmic Okie isn't here to give us the "play by play"

Kids, tweens and their parents.

Terrible.

Too bad Cosmic Okie isn't here to give us the "play by play"<<<

Maybe it is because of folks that give false accusations to folks like him and Brick.

False accusations? Jazfish, please. The guy harassed me for saying that, attending a show a few nights after the Bataclan attack in Paris, I couldn't help but wonder if a concert I was attending could be the target of an attack.

Get your facts straight.

>>>>>Maybe it is because of folks that give false accusations to folks like him and Brick.

Please expand on this.

Which false accusations?  I've never been anti either of those two.  Love them both.  Doesn't mean Brick isn't kind of racist (most of us kind of are), or Okie didn't think he was breaking news on the Boston Marathon bombing, welsh on a sports folder bet or drive his car through somebodys living room while he was drunk.

>>>>I couldn't help but wonder if a concert I was attending could be the target of an attack.

It's sad that it's a constant worry in any sort of large scale public gathering these days.

Sucks if it was a bomb. sorry I didn't cite my source for you, Ateix - you can deduct a grade from my post.

A suicide bomber can probably stand outside until people start walking out, walk up to the exits and slip in as the doors are open.

http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-manchester-40007886

Greater Manchester Police said there are a "number of confirmed fatalities and others injured".

The cause of the reported explosion is unknown but the North West Counter Terrorism Unit is treating it as a possible terrorist incident.

BBC Home Affairs Correspondent Daniel Sandford said senior counter-terrorism officers are assembling in London and are liaising with the Home Office.

He said early estimates put the number of fatalities in double figures, although these are not confirmed.

Manchester Victoria station, which is close to the concert venue, has been closed and all trains cancelled. British Transport Police say explosion was in the foyer area of Manchester Arena.

>> It's sad that it's a constant worry in any sort of large scale public gathering these days.

This is the crux of the biscuit.

>>>suicide bomber can probably stand outside until people start walking out, walk up to the exits and slip in as the doors are open.

Several news sources are citing police authorities who say that is what likely happened.  Bomber blew him or herself up either right outside or inside the entrance as the concert goers were filing out.

I stand by my statement.

19 dead so far WTH ?

>>>>I stand by my statement.

And are intellectually unable to elaborate on it.  It's cool.  You do you Jazzfish.

Nitrous mafia gone bad? It's all about the balloons these days.

CBS News reporting 19 dead and 50 injured.

Absolutely Scary

Sorry

https://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/alertswarnings/Europe.html

This fits with the State Department travel advisory for Europe issued earlier this month. This is just the kind of soft target that is most vulnerable. The suicide bomber did not even need a ticket to the event.

BBC reporting Ariana put ketchup on her steak before the show! Gross.....

>>>State Department travel advisory for Europe issued earlier this month.

Going to the UK in a few weeks, but will mostly be up in the highlands and islands where terrorists won't likely target.  Just have to worry about the airport in London and the train ride to Edinburgh.

Be careful out there!

I'm sorry to break it to you like this, Fafa, but I'm afraid you're a complete moron.

Ateix, try not to be scared about terrorism. You have a greater chance of being struck by lightening or attacked by a shark.

>>>>You have a greater chance of being struck by lightening or attacked by a shark.

Not necessarily true.  In recent years, terrorist attacks have spiked and have taken about 40,000 lives per year across the globe.  Of course, most of those have happened in places you probably don't want to go (Pakistan, Iraq, Yemen, etc.).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_terrorist_incidents

By comparison lightning strikes cause around 24,000 deaths per year world wide. Shark attacks only claim about 70 lives around the world per year.

Sorry Ken, I was just going by what Facebook was telling me. Maybe it was just in the US, so we're all good.....

Very sad.

Yes, very sad...and disturbing

Fafa is sad

let me guess, you misspelled lightning due to facebook too.

Totally sad and fucked up to target a largely teen girl audience.

Most murder is senselessly fucked up

Sigh

>> Okie didn't think he was breaking news on the Boston Marathon bombing, welsh on a sports folder bet or drive his car through somebodys living room while he was drunk.

He paid the whole pool back. No welshing occurred.

terrible situation

UK leader Theresa May condemns 'warped and twisted' terror attack in Manchester

Silvia Amaro 3 hours ago

The explosion outside Manchester Arena on Monday night that killed 22 people was a "callous terrorist attack", U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May told the media after chairing an emergency security meeting.

She said that 59 injured people are still being treated in hospitals across Manchester, some of them for life-threatening conditions.

The attack in Manchester following a pop concert was "among the worst terrorism we have experienced in the United Kingdom," May said.

"We know that among those killed and injured were many children and young people," she said.

"We struggle to comprehend the warped and twisted mind that sees a room packed with young children not as a scene to cherish, but as an opportunity for carnage."

The British authorities are aware of the identity of the perpetrator, but are not yet prepared to disclose this information at this point. According to the prime minister, the attacker carried out the explosion on his own and authorities are investigating whether he received any support in preparing the incident.

Police have arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with the attack and ISIS has claimed responsibility but produced no evidence.

May added that police will seek out and bring to justice any others who are involved with the attack. May, who is travelling to Manchester to speak to the authorities on the ground, will chair another security meeting later on Tuesday.

The terror threat in the U.K. remains at severe.

my dad is going over in a month...

Love to all those involved.  Just terrible.

Ender, some Pholks just troll.

Glad you're focused on the important stuff, Jizzfish.

22 year old Salman Abedi has been named as the likely perpetrator.

Wonder how this is going to impact our live concert-going experiences and affect the costs of putting on large concerts?

Ender and Jazfish, thanks for stepping up and defending Okie and Brick, nice work.

>>>>>Ender and Jazfish, thanks for stepping up and defending Okie and Brick, nice work.

Neither of them defended Brick (that was me).  And I wasn't putting Okie down.

>>>>Wonder how this is going to impact our live concert-going experiences<<<<

More metal detectors/wands, screenings farther away from the main entrance, in general making things more unpleasant and a pain in the ass.  Webcasts are the future my friends.

Don't NFL games these days ban bags except for a specified size of clear plastic bag?

A bag ban and extra screenings wouldn't have helped here as it appears the bomber slipped into the venue as the fans were streaming out.

Which false accusations are being spoken about, and who did they come from?

you might be surprised how often people try to bring guns into a show.

a work associate was just telling me some lady had a gun in her purse for Postmodern Jukebox.

Horrific.

I have a niece who goes to these kinds of shows... can't even imagine the devastation something like this would cause her family.

And since this can happen outside the security perimeter of any big event, I think the thing to do is arrive early and leave late when the crowds outside are relatively small.

Peace to all who have been affected.

YAY MULTI CULTURALISM!!!

Stupid.

YAY "REFUGEES"

Idiotic.

Do Morons STILL want to import these animals dressed as "refugees" in the IDIOTIC LARGE NUMBERS THAT THAT IDIOT HILLIARY ROTTEN CLINTON wanted to, not to mention they are COMPLETELY UNVETTABLE.

Stupid is as stupid does.
Funny, well not really, but just last month "leaders" in France were getting down on Poland for not letting "refugees" in.   The IDIOTS in France, Germany and England, not to mention Belgium seem to care more about "refugees" than they do protecting THEIR OWN CITIZENS!

Funny thing, I mentioned Poland up there,

in France England etc, how many TERRORIST ATTACKS have there been? right too many to mention, add another.

In Poland? None.

The difference COULD NOT BE MORE STARK.

•  You let in UNVETTABLE "REFUGEES" you inevitably DEGRADE your society with "Multi Culturalism" , NO GO ZONES, SHARIA LAW AND you get these oh so wonderful TERRORIST ATTACKS. blood and dead children.

•  You PREVENT these so called "refugees"  from entering your country (LIKE ANY NORMAL RATIONAL PEOPLE SHOULD DO, NOT POLITICAL HACKS, but ACTUAL ADULTS!!!) you get NO TERRORIST ATTACKS.

Pretty simple.  You may not get to pat your Libtardian Selves on the backs for being so "compassionate"  though.

EAT IT

(whatever happened the being compassionate for the CITIZENRY THAT HAS TO PUT UP WITH THIS BULLSHIT!!!!)

The time for prayers and thoughts to the dead is OVER.

The time for action against these BARBARIANS is NOW!!!!!!!!!!

take out a town.

make them feel the pain they inflict randomly.

KILL THEIR FAMILIES.

let them know how it feels.

and please don't tell me, "we're doing it already, that's why they are angry!"

Well that would Barack "I never met a drone I didn't like" Fauxbama who did that.

yes he did.

you might be surprised how often people try to bring guns into a show.

Not really. At some venues, guns are the most identified contraband found. I know of one recent show in NYC that over 40 guns were found. The numbers are higher often in concealed carry states, although many of those places it's no big deal if your permits are in order. In NYC, you usually go directly to Rikers.

>>>KILL THEIR FAMILIES.

Kurt, you should be banned from this community if you don't take this back.

^ Yea.  Usually SeaDog's stuff is pretty pedestrian for me, but that last post is his calling to arms and inciting some violent shit.

Was Seadog ever in the military? If not - why not? Seems like he should be out there putting his ass where his mouth is.

Some people might be surprised.  I've worked at venues in Chicago and around Florida.  Incidents happen a lot.  It was weird to me a lady had one at a Postmodern Jukebox show.  They don't allow you to bring a gun in even with a concealed carry permit.

>>although many of those places it's no big deal if your permits are in order.

music venues?  I disagree.

The guy was born in England you fucking moron.

SeaDog demanding we take action and kill their families.  Can't get over that.

lets all chip in send seadoggie to syria to save us from the evil losers , only he can save us  , he is the "truth"

it worries me a lot , shows are perfect targets , i can not count the arenas that look just like the one in Manchester , that I have been too

despite the chaos at one of "our" shows , drunk , stoned , tripping, freaked out with reality ...then again I dont know the ariana grande crowd

4winds ~ By no big deal I meant that if your permits are in order and you "forget" to leave your gun home at a concert venue you will probably still have problems but those problems are probably not NYC problems like 7 years in prison. Some of the other states that person would get a fine and a suspended sentence. Still a big deal, just not as big of a deal.

Sorry if I came across as saying bringing a gun to a concert venue that bif of deal. That was not my intention.

understood

I remember when knives were common at shows.

Bowie knives, buck knives, holstered on belts.

The good ol days.
