Is nothing sacred anymore?
Hundreds of pizza lovers were furious after they bought tickets to the New York City Pizza Festival for as much as $75 a ticket, expecting delicious, piping-hot pizza from a variety of vendors, and were greeted by something incredibly disappointing at the event held Saturday in Brooklyn.

Maybe it's because I've been drinking, but this is making me laugh pretty hard.
And I needed a good laugh, so thanks for posting, and thanks to all the clucks who would pay $55 - $75 for a "pizza & hamburger party".
Oh my.

Yahoo link wouldn't load up
Yahoo link wouldn't load up for me on this '2nd world' internet pipeline.
However, I suspect it's the same Gypsy caravan who(m) did the PDX taco Festie scam a few weeks back.
It's like the rolling Carney foody fest mafia. One week they're in Nebraska for the Prairie Oyster Festival, then New Mexico for Chile Verde Fest.
Probably connected to the same hucksters who promoted that Doomed music event in Haiti a while back.
"Here's yer Taquito platter & Beverages. OOoops, someone eated that already. We'll be back in a moment with a fresh platter..."

The "day-long celebration" of
STU THE ABOVE LINKS HAD VIDEO AND PHOTOS. HERE IS THE CONTENT FROM A DIFFERENT WEB SITE. SAME MEAT DIFFERENT GRAVY
The "day-long celebration" of pizza featured a total of five pies.
At this point, it seems like event organizers are just trying to one-up the chaos of the dumpster fire that was Ja Rule's failed Fyre Festival. Most recently, a pizza festival in New York City promised its attendees a "day-long celebration of the dough, cheese, tasty sauces, and delicious toppings," but delivered only a few laughably small slices of 'za—and a hefty helping of disappointment.
According to the New York City Pizza Festival's Eventbrite listing, the September 9 event, which took place at the Hangry Garden pop-up market in Brooklyn, was supposed to feature an "eclectic tasting of the best pizza in NYC." Tickets ranged in price from $36 to $69 (not including the processing fee) and guaranteed attendees "unlimited pizza samples." Unfortunately, per dissatisfied festival-goers' complaints on Facebook, the actual pizza offerings were neither unlimited nor the "best" in the city.
Very few of the promised 30 vendors showed up at the festival, so the handful of pizzas that did arrive were cut up into as many pieces as possible. Around 7:45 p.m., organizers posted on the event's Facebook page, "Hi guys, we've been hit by an incredible amount of delays in pizza delivery. Fresh, diverse, and delicious pizza was supposed to be delivered every 30 minutes. A make-up tasting will be announced shortly. Sincere apologies. Please do not come for the rest of the night's tastings. Apologies for inconvenience! :("
A group called "Pizza Festival Scam Victims" has already formed on Facebook as a place where frustrated attendees can post their complaints about the festival and plot a class-action lawsuit. The group's admin wrote, "This was a rotten scam, they promoted this as a pizza festival and a hamburger festival. People who arrived early said there were about five pies cut into micro slices of really bad pizza. There were no hamburgers! Clearly this is a scam and the organizers should be held accountable." (The comment about burgers refers to the New York City Burger Festival, which was simultaneously held in the glorified parking lot on Saturday, according to Grubstreet, and which was reportedly just as disappointing to ticket holders.)

I live 5 miles from anywhere,
I live 5 miles from anywhere, but within a 10 mile radius there are literally DOZENS of Pizzerias. Because I'm in Central Jerseyland.
Some are better than others. This one guy who makes a decent Pie, I'll never go to again because he burned my Cheese-Steak and then put the same filling on a new Torpedo roll. Pretty stupid move when there are more competent places nearby.
It's not like this is the Idaho panhandle and 'Dominoes' is considered a delicacy.

Jeez. I don't think the NYC Beer, Bourbon & BBQ Festival was $75.
Even if it had been, you could easily hit that retail worth inside an hour if you avoided the longer lines. Less if you were from Rockland County ("These people drink like Vikings."~ A Zoner Emeritus).
Even if it were "boutique" pies (Think: $20 for a "medium"), no way I'm putting away $75 worth.

How much pizza can one person eat?
Food festies with assorted/varied items, I can understand. But pizza? It's akin to paying $75 to attend a bagel festival.

If it was actually 75 US
If it was actually 75 US dollars, that is over 36 plain slices or 22 + 'enriched' slices in my Pizza - Wealthy part of the World.
What I'm saying is that plain slices are about 2 dollares, here in Jerseyland, and slices with stuff on top go for 3 bucks or so.
They are not little boutique - ish infant slices. They are Good - size Slices.
While I hate to say that some people are Complete Idiots, why would anyone pay $75.00 for a 'Pizza Festival' when you can get three Deluxe Pizza Pies for that ???

Stu.....I am LMAO because in the first links of this thread the guy being interviewed said he paid 75 Bux because he got the "VIP Experience" ticket which included wine and beer.
Not only was there no pizza but there was no wine and beer either.

Mr. KK --
Mr. KK --
You never fail to crack me up.
I have to think that it was Tourists from other Nations that went for the Pizza Festival Scam.
If you think about it, they would be the perfect target for the Giant Swindle. They are going Home to Germany, Korea, Sri Lanka, Rhodesia, Netherlands or wherever. Not worth their time or $$ to file a lawsuit. And locals would just get a Extra - Large w/ Sausage & Mushrooms.

Actually Stu most or all of those interviewed were locals from the tri state area and one guy came from as far as Washington DC. I have no doubt there were others who were camera shy from "way out of town".
and Stu....check this out.
HARLEM — The organizer of Bushwick's ill-fated pizza festival (scam) has been forced out from a limited role in Harlem's inaugural beer festival.
Ishmael Osekre — founder of Afropolitan Insights and the organizer behind pizza and beer festivals where people paid up to $75 for "mountains of french fries and oceans of ketchup," but received cold slices of miniature pizza — worked as the social media coordinator for Harlem Brew Festival scheduled for Sept. 30.
Harlem Brewing Company owner Celeste Beatty, who has spent the past couple of years organizing the beer festival, asked Osekre to step down "due to other concerns," without specifying further.
Before being asked to step down, Osekre told DNAinfo New York that he felt bad that the backlash from the pizza event was having a negative effect on the beer festival.
"Me, as an individual, should not be a cloud over Harlem finally getting its beer festival," he said. "The event happening is more important than me being involved in an event like that."
On Wednesday morning, Osekre posted a message on the event's Facebook page stating that he will refund all attendees of the Bushwick festivals.
"After careful deliberation, and much back and forth about our customer's best interest, we have agreed on REFUNDING ALL TICKETS from the pizza and burger festivals," he wrote.
Doug Cohen, a spokesman for the state Attorney General, confirmed news reports that the office is asking people who attended the Brooklyn event to submit complaints and has been trying to contact the organizer.
Beatty, who started as a homebrewer in her Harlem studio, founded the Harlem Brewing Company in 2000 and has seen it grow to the point where her beers are sold in the South and as far away as Japan.

I have never heard of this
I have never heard of this company/bar and i can not vouch for the beer festival. But from my brief research it appears to be a legit establishment. The reviews of the neighborhood bar are good for the most part so I guess the beer fest will be as well.

Hey Mr. KK,
Hey Mr. KK,
I met you at least once at the Capitol Port Chester, and you appeared to be a lean and tall individual.
Can't imagine that you eat Entire Pizzas at one sitting, or even more than a couple - few slices.
Know that I am not opposed to any sort of Food Festival, and I definitely enjoy quaffing all sorts of Food.
But it seems such a shame to promote a public Food event and not follow through in Reality.
And, I do love Pizza.
So I've no complaints about any Pizza festival, if it's for Real.
Tomorrow, I'll likely grab a Slice from one of my preferred spots.
And, I don't have to drive very far.
Really, there are Good Pizzerias on the way to every task for work or such.
Definitely, that's the best Treat in my central Jerseyland locale: Great Pizza everywhere !!! So I got that going for me
