He should stick to building homes for the homeless as he's in no position to lecture others on how to be a good President.

With Incomes At A Record High, Is The Post-Financial Crisis Malaise Finally Over?

Growth: Buried amid a deluge of nasty news ranging from the growing North Korean nuclear threat to killer hurricanes hitting our coasts, the Census Bureau reports that median household income, a broad gauge of family financial well-being, hit its highest level ever last year. That's another strong sign that the economy is trying to break out of its 10-year growth slump.

The median household income last year was $59,039, up 0.7% from the previous record of $58,655 set in 1999, the year the dot-com boom went bust. Real median incomes for married households with both spouses working soared to $106,000 in inflation adjusted dollars, nearly $10,000 higher than where it stood in 1999.

for starters i could point out that history will most likely focus on the fact that obama's election broke the presidential color barrier and if for no other reason will b seen as an overwhelmingly positive occurrence, but instead I'll just note that his presidency took place in the 21st century.

I was never an Obama-ite, but I think one would be hard-pressed to call his presidency "failed" and then back it up with non-partisan facts, rather than opinion.

Due to Obama’s regulatory policies, greenhouse gas emissions decreased by 12%, production of renewable energy more than doubled, and our dependence on foreign oil was cut in half.

He signed The Lilly Ledbetter Act, making it easier for women to sue employers for unequal pay.

He reduced the federal deficit from 9.8 percent of GDP in 2009 to 3.2 percent in 2016.

We seem to have forgotten that, before the ACA, you could be denied coverage for a pre-existing condition and kids could not stay on their parents’ policies up to age 26.

He expanded funding for embryonic stem cell research, supporting groundbreaking advancement in areas like spinal injury treatment and cancer.

Credit card companies can no longer charge hidden fees or raise interest rates without advance notice.

Welfare spending is down: for every 100 poor families, just 24 receive cash assistance, compared with 64 in 1996.

He never took away anyone’s guns.

He was the first president since Eisenhower to serve two terms without personal or political scandal.
President Obama was not perfect, as no man and no president is, and you can certainly disagree with his political ideologies. But to say we suffered?
If that’s the argument, if this is how we suffered for 8 years under Barack Obama, I have one wish: may we be so fortunate as to suffer 8 more exactly like it.

I love Jimmy Carter and I appreciated his presidency enormously. That we had someone who actually cared about people, didn't want to go after people... I love his Mr. Rogers-like ways.

I also like Obama and what he tried to make happen for our country and world. Too bad he got no help or support from Republicans.

THe crux is that Republicans call most of those positives on the list negatives. 

No Republican will ever see that list. When Thom and others make arguments, they are always word for word what I see other conservatives say in other threads. They are carefully crafted talking points curated by very smart people who work for ALEC, the Koch Brothers and the Heritage Foundation, and then broadcast by Fox, Rush, and News Max. The conservative arguments are designed to be absolute and short on facts, and if they are ever confronted with a fact the response is always a Whataboutism.

Hey librarian hate to break to to you but Obama was president in the 21st century. As a failure he has nothing on George W who was also president in the 21st century. 

Jimmy Carter was actually one of the most intelligent figureheads to hold office.  Recall that he commanded a nuclear submarine,  which is a job for smart people.

B-movie actor or Realtor-schmuck  could never make it through a week on that job.

What's interesting is that JC was replaced by a Clone or robotic double at some point.  The part in his hair miraculously switched to the opposite side of his head,  and it was on the TV news.  

Amazing how it took a week or so before anyone noticed.  But really,  that actually happened.

I believe you're correct to a certain extent ... the mouthpieces for special interests have essentially whipped people up into a frenzy.

It's a very interesting sort of mass social brainwashing.   Sure, people should be able to use reason evaluate and discern "low information" rhetoric that is posing as arguments, but the fact of the matter is these hosts / broadcasters are entertaining and addictive ... and people have really become invested in allowing themselves to be all riled up. 

What I find interesting & troubling re: Trump investigation developments is how the conservative media's narrative needs to keep "doubling down".    I've been amazed at how the "deep state coup" has been getting some real legs in mainstream conservative media.   It seems that as the spotlight on Trump gets more intense, conservative media seems to push the notion of resisting a hostile takeover vs. ever conceding even the possibility that Trump may have had his hands in the cookie jar(s).   How far can they stretch the narrative that this is all about "sour grapes" before people start questioning the legitimacy congressional hearings or any existing authority?  At what point does Sean Hannity become a conspirator?

Jimmy Carter is the greatest Ex-President in my history.
