Sound Summit Mt. Tamalpais Sept 9

Forums:

I am beyond psyched to be getting on an airplane tomorrow afternoon to fly to San Francisco to meet up with my friends John and Kristin and go to the sound Summit concert on September 9th.

Another good friend, whom I haven't seen and almost a decade, is coming down from Eureka and meeting us in Marin to Camp somewhere on Friday evening.

I can't wait to see my friends and see this music in such a beautiful venue high up on Mount Tamalpais.

Any zoners goin?  It should be a GREAT day.

I'm in! I know Roshambo and Llollo are coming as well. We will definitely convene a Zoner high summit meeting.

Bring Hats, Sunscreen, Water Bottles. Weather is ever changing on the mountain and it can get quite hot at the Mountain Theater, as most of the venue is in full sun. We strongly encourage you to bring protection from the rays and stay hydrated. You may want to bring layers for later in the day as the weather cools

You can also bring something to cushion your seat – e.g. Blankets, Soft Backed Trail Chairs and Stadium Cushions, but no folding chairs with arms that will take up an extra seat, trouble the person sitting next to you, potentially damage the stone seating, or impede access along public routes and fire lanes within the venue. Small Coolers (six-pack size) are cool.

Food, Beer, Wine, and Soft Beverages will be available at the venue. You may bring food and beverage if you wish, but please follow the guidelines below. Otherwise, plan to enjoy some tasty fare from our eclectic array of vendors.

No Alcohol, Glass Bottles or Containers, Umbrellas, Selfie Sticks, Tripods, Drones, Matches, Cigarette Lighters, Audio & Video Recording Devices, Cameras With Detachable Lenses, Strollers, Large Coolers, Folding Metal Armchairs, or Dogs (except for Service Dogs) may be brought inside the Mountain Theater.

Um . . . NO! There is no smoking allowed in the Mountain Theater. This is not just a rule for Sound Summit or the Mountain Play; it’s a rule for everyone all the time in this remarkable and delicate space.

We cannot possibly stress this rule and request enough. We ask that you please respect it and remind your neighbors to do the same. If you don’t, you are potentially endangering and jeopardizing your fellow concertgoers, the future of this event, and, more important above all, the safety of Mount Tam.

Imagine you’re on a great eight-hour flight with cool tunes and incredible views. Enjoy the ride and wait until you get off the plane. Thanks for treating this as seriously as we all do!

Schwa, I share your enthusiasm for flying to Cali & seeing old friends, as I am doing the same thing tomorrow!

Only hitch is I have yet to score a Ticket to Sound Summit on Mt Tam  sad I understand it 's a tough ticket too!

If anyone knows of an extra, please let me know! [email protected]

DJ Easy Wind, you might also post in the Tickets folder. Good luck!

Zooey, that is AWESOME!!!

wow, do people really refrain? at these kind of events there? if so, cool...

Edibles will see me through.

DJ - there are some tickets on StubHub now for $150. That's the cheapest I have seen and not that much over the $121 cost. They will go fast.

I'm guessing Bob will be wearing his capri pants for his Vetiver sit-in.

Thanks Zooey. But $249 was the lowest by the time I logged in...

Thanks for the heads up...

Yep - they're gone already.

I thought they would go fast, but they went really fast. Sorry...

Will anyone be driving up from the city?  A good friend of mine who is visiting a friend in the Haight is looking for someone to catch a ride with.

From FB:

We're happy to announce the set schedules for Sound Summit 2017.

12:45 - 1:30 The Stone Foxes
2:00 - 2:45  Preservation Hall Jazz Band

Come early, as you never know who might sit in with whom!

Yes!!!! We begin our road trip to Mt. Tam tomorrow morn!

Portland > Shasta > Occidental > Mt. Tam

Safe travels to all!

Given that we are traveling through a state that is on fire right now, take it from me... just say yes to edibles and leave the J's at home.

We are looking forward to fresh air.

^It's not exactly clear skies down here, but it HAS to be better that what you folks are going through up there.

I have a busy weekend ahead of me.  Otherwise, I'd do my best to get together with you all one way or another.

Let me know if anything is going on on Friday or late Saturday night.

Have FUN!!!

Hi Johnny D! Would love to see you... we are looking forward to getting out of town as everyone's hearts are so heavy. Going to church, as we say in Portland!

Was just crying at my desk when an old colleague came for a visit to talk .

We'll keep you posted somehow.

Do you live near Occidental? That's where we'll be on Friday night since we have such an early start to get to the venue on Saturday morn.

I live in Berkeley, which is a lot closer to Occidental than Portland.

I am tempted to check this out on Friday:

SF/ Marin Food Bank
Friday, September 8th

Did you know that 9 million meals are missed in Marin County each year? This Friday, after bagging groceries at SF Marin Food Bank, Phil will return to TXR to play an outside music set in Beach Park. This is a free event, but we encourage you to stop by the donation booth and give what you can. Just $1 provides two meals to a hungry Child, Senior or Adult in need. Join Phil Lesh, Scott Law, Ross James, Alex Koford, Danny Eisenberg and Dave Zirbel for an outdoor set of music in honor of the SF Marin Food Bank and the wonderful contribution it makes to our community.

Friday, September 8th

All Ages
Beach Park

Cool... but pretty sure we're staying put on Friday night to hang out w/ our hosts.

Sounds like a great warm up for the Sound Summit and opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to a great cause.

One ticket for $190 on StubHub now...

Who is organizing the Zoner meet up?!

I will be headed down early and am in contact with Zooey and Llollo

if ya want to meet up, send an email today or tomorrow

vapes we're fine last time

woke up to rain this am

Looking forward to the Jim James set

feel like Stone Foxes was a cheap fill in for this, but oh well.

OK,, it seems between my logistics of coming up the coast from Monterey combined with the price of Tix on Mt. Tam rules me out for Sound Summit.

However I am very content to go to The Warfileld (Church) to see Greensky Bluegrass/Hot Buttered Rum that evening!

Any Zoners headed to GSGB Saturday?

There are $150 tickets on StubHub again, for anyone still looking...

I may have an extra if anyone still looking

email in profile

Any speculation on who the "Friends" will be in addition to Bobby?

Chris Robinson, Stu, Crosby and a drummer from the JV.

Thanks Knotesau, appreciated.  I assume by "JV drummer" you mean Alex Koford?  If so, he'll do, and I like that lineup!

Ticket sold.

Looking forward to hearing about this - anything taking place up there is bound to be special. And there's an after party at TXR?

Good fun up on the Mountain. A real community event, good times!

Knotesau, you sounded so confident about the lineup!  Turned out to be Phil, Bobby, and Alex Koford, with RMFJ and Holly Bowling.  Jim James (from My Morning Jacket - Bob introduced him as "our little buddy") joined on vocals during Tennessee Jed, which included "Down On The Bottom" in the middle.  Enjoyed that a lot.  No time for a full review, but Box of Rain was a highlight, and Phil singing "Love is Real" during the NFA wind down seemed especially sincere.  A fine day at a truly special place (my first time there).

Watched on the link provided on another thread - liked it a lot.

Really into the aimless noodling - seriouselee!
