William Onyeabor

I highly recommend checking this guy out.  Who knew Nigeria was such a funky place in the 70's?

Thanks for sharing Timmy. Never heard of the band before.

It was a good video and music.

David Byrne is a fan of William Onyeabor.

A couple of years ago he put together a band to play Onyeabor's music and did an adequate job.

Here is Byrne and The Atomic Bomb Band doing Fantastic Man: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQ-B_sVr7TA

Apparently Onyeabor gave up music and will not even discuss it now.

Very unique grooves from Onyeabor..

Furious E recently introduced him to me through the Byrne project.

If you use Pandora I recommend an Onyeabor station.  They play all sorts of rad world beat psychedelic stuff.

You ever listen to Os Mutantes?

Can't say I've heard of them

Brazilian psychedelic band started in the late 1960's. Here is one of my favorites of their songs:

The Atomic Bomb Byrne band is far more than adequate; it's got Charles Lloyd for god sakes.
