These lists don't mean much other than an influx of Chompers, usually, but it's still nice to see.

Not sure the order as there are nu numbers but assuming you are referring to Charlottesville.....have you been to Alley light yet?

I gave BK the link to the full infographic in the beast thread which breaks down the ranking and numbers.  I don't put too much stock in these articles but it has C'ville at # 1. Link at bottom of article.

Alley Light is an amazing meal.

Nearly life changing, actually, Zang.

I had a plate of carrots...just carrots that blew my mind.

That and Mas are my two Favorites in town.

And not to put too fine a point on it, and I'm partially trolling,  but my neighborhood is listed among the "best secret neighborhoods in the country.......whatever that means.

http://www.travelandleisure.com/slideshows/americas-best-secret-neighbor...

The carrots.... the fucking carrots.   They are so good.  I came home raving about them to my family.  Even bought all the ingredients to make them at home.   Amazing!

I liked it better before they put the new gate up which identifies where the place is.    No need to fancify the alley.    I think I've been there three times but tried Saison last week.   Not bad but I'd go back to Alley light.

I'm up there every couple of weeks.   Have three projects there at the moment and hopefully a fourth coming.    Let's grab a bite next time I'm there.    Actually had some Brazos tacos the other day that hit the spot.   That town is definitely on the tops for quality food per person.

Yeah man.

Brazos is really solid.  It's a regular go-to lunch spot for me.  Started as a pop up and he was so popular, he couldn't close.

Would love to catch up and say hey.  Interested to hear about your work. It'd be pretty easy to find you for lunch or a drink later in the day. I'm right downtown.

I'm glad :: someone ::  else understands these carrots.

send me an email here to my junk email: [email protected] and I'll respond from my normal email....

Should be back up there before the end of the month.....if the main project doesn't explode.

I spent some time in Charlottesville in another lifetime, and found it to be a nice little town.

Now it seems the crazies have taken over. The KKK will march armed on Saturday. What could go wrong?

http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/kkk-marchers-say-they-will-be-armed-sat...

<<<it seems the crazies have taken over.

Yeah..........No.

They aren't locals.

The old Civil war statues removal from the parks have become a flashpoint cause for out of town racists and assholes and there is a coordinated effort from the citizens to deny them at restaurants and places to stay (air bnbs and vrbos) and there will be far greater numbers of resistance than any of these outsiders in attendance tomorrow.

It was probably much much worse around here in your other Lifetime, truth be told.

<<<<The KKK will march armed on Saturday

That's a Virginia thing, not a C'ville thing.  You know, open carry State and all.  Not saying it's right, but it's legal and we have no recourse to Stop it.

I'll continue to be there to tell them we don't accept their backwards thinking, just as I have been at every step of this thing since it started.

The top is a dark and lonely place, Guy. You're already in a position of defending the honor of your fair city.

Lol!

Whatever you say, Eggman.

2002 called. It's looking for its nicknames.

I know you and Six aren't talking from your recent kerfuffle, but we've already Kumbaya'd and moved on from yesterday's business.

Good to see you went out of your way on a Friday night to throw some shade, angry egg guy on a dbmb.

Keep at it, though. It seems really important to you.

I find it entertaining you are so reactionary and hang on my every word.

Pretty flattered, actually.

You're being really weird, Guy. I'm neither angry nor hanging on your words.

I'm not the one that went out of my way on a Friday night to get negative, Professor.

Talk about weird.

I'm happy to never speak with you again, but if you look at the recent record, you're the one that keeps randomly engaging to take pot shots are me.

Quit being so weird and angry.

Its partially my fault for responding to your mess.

Gonna try not to waste my time with you any more. I may slip here and there, though. You used to be worth talking to, force of habit.

Now, I gotta suit up and go speak my mind to some Nazis.

Jeez, all I did was say it's "lonely at the top." It wasn't intended as a pot shot or anything personal. Then I made a silly Seinfeld joke about the "Eggman" thing. Look at the length and depth of your responses.

<<<What could go wrong?

As it turns out. Not a thing.

Virginians are no strangers to seeing open carry and are mature enough to handle it.  Usually it's just the random old farmer in town in his "Farm Use" truck with a revolver on his side, but no one gets into a tizzy when it's present.

I actually didn't see any of the Klansmen with weapons today.

There couldn't have been 100 of them show today.  When they arrived they were greeted by at least 2500 citizens letting them know this isn't ok in our town....like a white blood cell (pardon the metaphor) surrounding a malignant tumor, we drowned them out and their message wasn't heard.

The police and city did a great job balancing 1st Ammendment rights and the values of our city today.  Very proud of how it all went down.

Were the Klansmen hooded?

Some hoods, yes.

Red ones, purple ones, and white ones.  Seemed to be the top brass only.  Most were hunched over unhooded sad sacks of life that looked like they were on their way out.

Im hearing now there's been some agitation and ugliness from counter protestors who have refused to leave the park (the klan is long gone) and the cops popped two tear gas canisters, but I got out of there an hour ago and it was a high energy but peaceful scene.

Faces covered, too?

What is it with the counter-protesters? Don't they get that when they do this, whether at a Klan rally or Trump rally, that they give the far Right all sorts of fodder to say shit like, "scratch a liberal and get a fascist.."?

I don't get it.  It's like a different crowd showed up ::after:: the main deal to cause problems. There wasn't a hint of issues during the march when I was down there.

Dollars to donuts that the "agitators" weren't from anywhere near your town.

To me, people like that are worse than the Klan marchers, who get their permits, follow rules and publicly out themselves as the d-bags they are. The agitators just come in and fuck shit up. Sucks.

>>>To me, people like that are worse than the Klan marchers, who get their permits, follow rules and publicly out themselves as the d-bags they are.

what are things that would only be typed or said by comfortable white guy.

Explain, Across.

No, I feel that would be patronizing.

My post is rather straightforward and should be easily understood.

So, you stand behind people who travel around, act as professional agitators, and generally fuck up positive and peaceful counter-protests, giving the opposition all sorts of ammo?

I guess I'll stick with being a comfortable white guy, because if that's what it means to be an uncomfortable white guy, fuck that.

I see that I did forget an "a" in front of comfortable white guy in my original post.

'comfortable white guy' isn't a nickname I'm trying out for you, in case that's why you needed an explanation.

Are you an uncomfortable white guy?

why are you such a needy dbmb poster? (rhetorical)

all I said in my original post is that someone of color would not type or say what you did.

i see you are dwelling on the 'comfortable' aspect. no I'm not comfortable.

Our dbmb convo could now be over, right? No more agitators?

Turns out, our bagels are better than yours, too.

I'm looking at you NYC and Montreal.

Come at me.  ;-)

http://www.southernliving.com/syndication/the-best-bagels-in-the-world-a...

"The best bagels in the world are in Charlottesville, Virginia. Sorry, New York. Sorry, Montreal. Sorry, bagels-the-internet-chowhounds-love-in-far-flung-cities-around-the-world, but it is a bagel south of the Mason-Dixon line that usurped my dough ball-sized heart in 1996 and stayed number one for the fifteen years that I called New York home and ate bagels at least twice a week. "

"What else do I have to tell you to believe me? That I have known New Yorkers who have brought Bodo’s home to New York in bulk and sliced them open and wrapped each sliced side individually to protect from freezer burn instead of going for fresh at their local bakery? That I have known New Yorkers who have asked Virginian relatives to bring them Bodo’s when they visit? That I have done both and so have other people I know?"

How's the pizza?

hi guys

What the hell is going on there, Headlight?  The torchlight parade on the Lawn tonight was a new low.  Sounds like things will be tense there tomorrow, as I guess they already are.  It's a shame to see the ugly stain of intolerance leave it's mark on such a progressive community.  Wishing you and the good people there safety and clear-headedness as you deal with these provacateurs.

Seems like Charlottesville dropped a few "charming" points last night. Shit happens.

I'm wondering why, out of all the places these Jackasses can go, they pick Charlottesville. Is it because of the connection to Jefferson, and the "freedom" he represents, or that it's a "fuck you" to the progressive South?

isn't it b/c the city is removing confederate monuments?

Baltimore and New Orleans are also getting rid of monuments, but I doubt if they have the balls to March in cities that are 70% black.

Were they wearing fitted t-shirts?

how charming, again.

>>>Seems like Charlottesville dropped a few "charming" points last night.

probably shoulda followed that up with a tap of your cigar and a, " Nyah, no one out charms Vermont, see? Nyah."

Double standards are very sad

 Number 6 on Saturday, August 12, 2017 – 07:14 am

This thread contains at least two blatant troll posts. Double standard in FULL effect. Very sad that some zoners need to troll other zoners to feel better about themselves. Their expected denials of this will ring hollow as always

; - )

I have a few thoughts, but my plate is a little full right now.

We successfully impeded the progress of the alt-right horde heading for the church Cornell West was speaking at last night, among other things.

This city is walking a very fine and volatile line right now between allowing First Ammendment Rights to be expressed while simultaneously fervently asserting the values of the community.

{{{ cooler heads }}}

Go c'ville!

The whole world is watching.

(((Charlottesville)))

From charming to alarming, ain't that the south for ya?

How much is parking?

>>>>They aren't locals.

It's always outsiders, never a neighbor,co-worker or constituent. These marches do not happen without local support.

#noexcuses #freespeech

No tweets from Trump?

Will journalists ask the administration about it?

#NOKO

>>>>These lists don't mean much other than an influx of Chompers, usually, but it's still nice to see.

what are "Chompers"?

IMG_0271_0.JPG

I am watching the battle live on MSNBC - it looks like a Game of Thrones battle with the wall of shields up.

>>>what are "Chompers

I'm not exactly sure but I've heard they're often located at the bit.

Now the rally is cancelled because of the unlawful assembly. But all the people are still there...

I love and respect c'ville so I want to see this resolved in a peaceful, dignified manner, but there's a small blood lust part of me that secretly craves for this ordeal to go all 'do the the right thing' with a trash can getting thrown through an establishment's window resulting in fire and riots.

Yet another reason to skip Lockn. wink

On a serious note, these yahoos have to remember the South lost the civil war and the pc police need to realize that you cannot erase history.  Leave the statues be!  EVERYWHERE.

I saw Single Men Who Masturbate to Anime open for DEVO at The Agora in Cleveland.

Fitz, choosing to no longer honor treasonous racists with public monuments does not erase history.

It is interesting that Paul Ryan has come out against these bigots, but still no word from Trump. I know he's busy golfing and planning all his wars, but still...

Today would be a good day to fire Bannon.

Bannon, Miller, and Gorka

Fascists in the WH.

Don't be naive noreaster.

I'm not naive, Fitz. Removing these public monuments will not erase the History. Don't engage in hyperbole.

Why do we honor treasonous racists with public monuments?

A lot of people getting warning emails in c'ville today

Whether on not to remove the statues seems to be a local decision. If the majorities in Charlottesville, St Louis, Baltimore and New Orleans want them gone, than they should be. It has nothing to do with erasing history. History is history. Did removing swastikas from the German flag erase history? How about taking down the statue of Saddam? Taking the Stars and Bars off state flags?

Having to explain this mess to my bi-racial daughter is nothing less than pathetic.

How do you explain it? (Honest, not loaded or trolling question)

IMG_0273.JPG

 - but Charlottesville sad!

IMG_0275.JPG

Sad

Fox news is vehemently disavowing any connection between Trump and the white nationalist protestors.

A Nazi terrorist traveled to my city from Ohio and killed one of my neighbors yesterday and the president blames both sides.

White supremacists love a great bagel. It's a fact.

I'm so sorry for you and your entire community, Guy. Fucking Nazi scum.

Sorry HL, that really sucks.

45 is a pathetic turd, has been his whole life.

Your mayor and governor showed so much more leadership yesterday.

RIP Heather

73Guy, this is so fucked up. I'm sorry that it happened in your city. I'm sorry it happened anywhere.

"If you're not angry, you're not paying attention."

"If you're not angry..."

Back in the 1930's, in East London, my great grandfather killed a Brown Shirt who was beating up a very old Hassid. He was angry.

In the 60s my grandfather owned a bar in the Catskills. One night a Nazi biker made the mistake of spewing his hate in the bar. He left through the window and in an ambulance. My grandpa was angry.

I believe that they have a right to march and say their shit. As the child of a Holocaust survivor, it makes my blood boil. I have a right for my blood to boil. I'm not comfortable with how angry the whole thing has made me. It was never supposed to be just a march. It was a clear incitement, from the inception.

It's fucking sad that when David Duke says that they are doing it in Trump's name and for his "promise," it doesn't make Trump's blood boil. It says everything about the man, and is the low point of a fucking shitty presidency.

We're only #3 on the list of Happiest Cities, but give us a bit to clear out the remaining Nazis and I bet we can take Boulder and Santa Cruz, who need legal weed to be happy.   ;-)
