9. "Because I'm picking up a QP" (heard that one personally. they saw the show and had fun too)

8. Complete and total redemption<<

Oh, good.  Something funny.

Foul Spoiled Grilled Cheese ( back of a car......) Man They Were Good ! angry cool

10.  I'm a glutton for punishment.

11. My grown kids are taking me.  Please please please don't surprise me with a pair of Grateful Dad sweatpants......

12. Ive always wanted to see Fenway, but hate the Red Sox. So, who is in John s band?

Hoover seems a bit urinated-off that Mrs. Hoover will attend while he must stay home and whip up Salmon Mousse for the Kiddoes.

I'll go for free or maybe $ 25, but I have not made it too far through the no - $$ internet streams.

Actually I'd definitely go if paid $ 25 and a free ticket.  No question.

I went over the day of show and picked up tickets at the box office.  I have to admit that John Mayer sounded good on guitar and I really enjoyed the music, even the drums. it was a total nostalgic act, but surprisingly satisfying. Don't knock it till you try it.

even though I haven't seen them and don't want to

13. Everyone I know who has seen them enjoyed the show.

Because why not?

Because one day they will be dead

The one that I'd like to hear, but don't:

I like it and it makes me happy.

It's not #14 because it's never heard.

I liked it and the pot made me happy. I did smoke a lot during the first set, but then the music made me happy.

and sure, you can have whatever I'm smoking :)

If I had more money.

Shakedown

for the sausage

Because in my heart I love the music and I like to hear it brought to life by musicians who care.

I bought my nephew a ticket for Christmas ( last year of course) and he wants me to go with him ...lol !  major backfire, but it will be fun to make a memory with my nephew :)

I just can imagine being desperate enough to buy a ticket.

Squirrel!!!  (oh wait, is that John Mayer?)

I have seen these guys three times now. My take on things are lined up with Jelly, Nancy, Lance and the Highnote take on Dead & Co. If you are there, it's a really good time with friends. The music is good and of course very familiar. The vibe is good in the crowd....always it seems. It makes people happy and it gives younger fans at least a glimpse of the days that used to be. John Mayer is a good guitarist to be doing these songs and not just blowing smoke imo. He has his heart into the music and that shows. How long it lasts is anyone's guess but I will continue my one time a year visit for fun and look forward to next time. I saw the Saturday show at Shoreline and left smiling.

Just to be clear, I have no problem with anybody going and am not putting the band down.  It's just funny that almost every post I see here about going to see them has some sort of qualifier in the first couple of sentences.

By all means go and have a great time.  The excuses are just funny to me.

I was bought tickets as a Father's Day gift and had a great time last night.  I went in with an open mind and thought the show was good.  Sure, it was a little slow at points, but the band did have several points where everyone was clearly locked in.  John Mayer was pumped and it was nice watching his enthusiasm.  He's got a couple real nice guitars.  I went in with an open mind and left feeling pretty good about this thing of ours.

lol

Glad you had a good time

In my mind there's a difference between qualifiers and excuses.

To me qualifiers just give a better understanding of individual reasoning, while excuses are to one degree or another apologizing.

I would never apologize for seeing Richard Thompson, but I do have qualifiers.

Are those also excuses?

Excuses people give for not going to Dead $ Co

1: Timmy's not going

This thread should really assist in accomplishing Judit's desire to attract more people into posting on Viva.

I have absolutely used #1 as an excuse...thanks, gmack.

I thought I bought tickets to see John Mayer playing Jimmy Hendrix songs.

Nice picture Jay. Glad you enjoyed it.

I got a miracle once and attended with a sweet zoner. The company was great, dead and co, not so much

Therefore, no excuses, freebie nor cool pholks, could get me back there.

Funny side note: my new boss is a head, yet refuses to see them (:

The chef, who i adore, is going, because she was given tix lololol

Despite the fake news that some are spreading, I did not attend the D&Co. show on Saturday with my wife.

I did watch part of the Saturday Fenway show on TV thanks to nnJimmy's link. As Jambone speculated - I fell asleep.

The report from my wife was, "Great vibe. Slow Bobby. She saw it for herself and got it out of her system."

If anyone has a free SPAC tix ill be happy to use that as an excuse to see a show.

Last night i spent $20 to see one of the world's best psychedelic rock guitarists do his thing for 3 hours from four feet away.

Talkin' 'bout Barry Sless.

Money well spent.

Admittedly, it was with MoonAlice and the Garcia Birthday band, but unless/until David rejoins the fray it's all we got, Sless-wise.

Well, I'll admit that my going is mostly due to #'s 1 (given 8th row tic for Camden for my b-day) & 4, I went to one of the Citi Field shows last year & definitely enjoyed the music, so I'm really looking forward to it. Add to that I've been hospital/home bound since the end of March, so it's also a great way to get out for a few hours.

>>>>>This thread should really assist in accomplishing Judit's desire to attract more people into posting on Viva.

I agree.  Seems people are engaged and posting in this thread and being civil (except for you being your normal passive, aggressive, catty, old woman self).

>psychedelic rock guitarists

do fractals come out of his amp?

>>>>>Add to that I've been hospital/home bound since the end of March, so it's also a great way to get out for a few hours.

Glad to hear your doing better.  Get out there and have some fun.

<<<<>>>>>do fractals come out of his amp?

yes.

>>I agree.

Hmm, if you truly agree with my post – then there's no reason for you to say what you did at the end of your post.

The alternative would be that you  didn't really agree with my post and you were just being passive aggressive right back at me.

6, people understand subtext.  Quit being an idiot.

We all know you can't say what you really mean.  It's been a pattern with you.  Somebody calls you out for something you posted and you say say they just misunderstood you.

I read your post as highly sarcastic.  Now go ahead and tell me you were being serious.

...

2017-06-19 09.03.49.png

I know that you and I have specifically talked about tone of voice online - and we both agreed it's not always easy to determine.

Of course I was being sarcastic.

But that doesn't mean you're not a jerk when you post back to me.

Something keeps us from ignoring each other.

Do we secretly like each other?

Does John Mayer ever tease "Daughters" while melting faces for the #teachersnightout gals?

"3 original members play together"

Not happening at a Dead$Co show unless Phil shows up.

I hope that someone dosed those Mayer girls who "know how to party!".

And that t-shirt is just God awful.

That picture tells me all I need to know.

fuck yeah they do. orbs, geometric patterns, fractals, colors.

.excursion-pesca-currican-altura-1.jpg

can't it just be a thread?

and i agree, the qualifiers are funny.

>>can't it just be a thread?

Of course it could - but look at the intent of the title.

Never said it wasn't also a funny thread too.

I just custied up & got a tix for Saratoga tomorrow - despite my vows to not go - because:

- It's Saratoga, my favorite east coast venue

- I love a Shitshow

- I actually like when it's slower than molasses (a result of seeing too many "Bloated Persian Jerry In Red" era shows)

- The weather is supposed to be perfect

- I know the secret back way in to the main lot

- The hurricane hitting the gulf coast now is due up here this weekend, endangering my plans to go to that hipster Wilco fest in N Adams MA (may still go Sunday @ least)

- Days Between is outta the way (but Black Peter is due)

- Now that I've likely seen my last Phil show (on 5/27, the UJB sandwich was nice, the rest indifferent), I should probably see my last "rest of the original members" show

- I need to get away (even if only for a day) from the gypsy moth infestation that's turned my usually wonderful forest yard into a nightmare of caterpiller excrement slime that smells so bad I can hardly leave the house.  And they say it doesn't peak until early August.  They've been in New England for decades but never this bad, the cold always kept them at bay.  But oh yeah Thom says Global Warming is a Hoax perpetuated by liberal professors.  Asshole . . .

wow

Its not the cold that usually keeps them at bay Sideshow, Its a fungus. Don't worry, they'll be turning into moths soon and then they will lay their eggs for next year.

Oh yeah, Terrapin Family Band = Two Firstsets Band.  You heard it here first.  Drum Roll Please . . .

I would fucking love to see Sideshow Turd at the MoCA. Love to.

What one calls an excuse others call a reason. Looking forward to Citifield w my pops!!!! A good time will be had and good music will be played.

>>>I would fucking love to see Sideshow Turd at the MoCA. Love to.

Tread lightly, Sideshow is a solid first round pick for the east coast PZ Rugby team.

>>>>I just custied up & got a tix for Saratoga tomorrow -

can't wait for this review, have fun !

John Mayer should sit in with moonalice.

lol !!

Molasses, did you say Molasses ??   ....;)

One more time for old times sake dear, Please ?

>nightmare of caterpiller excrement slime <

Well Nick did call me an Ass so I'm trying to live up to a bar set pretty high . . .

This "Ateixe" kid has been getting rather even more snotty of late.

The man-bunne must be affecting his head.

Anyway I called the radio station dude & left a message.  He's the guy who can put a free Camden ticket in my hand.

They rip you for parking there, so I will see if they run the trains later for show nites.

Or then again, I might not bother going.  Camden is an ugly little venue.

I really like when Mickey plays the Beam.

Damn, how many free tickets is that you've scored for shows you have been unwilling or unable to pay for from a guy who you spent an entire evening (and very early morning. "Liek, allnighter, dude!") drunkenly throwing shade at on a low-traffic message board, Stu? Fifty miles of bad road I guess. Lol

Nice job staying on topic with the free ticket line, though.

 22. Something nice and renewing about ramping up to see a show .... I remember this.

And after a ton of Phil Cap shows, it will be nice to be outside in the summer

Might As Well, Might As Well......

If admin was doing their job disco stu would have been put in timeout a long time ago.

I can think of a few others, JR. Probably me as well.

I'm justifying the fact that I just bought a SPAC ticket with "So I can go tear shit up tonight with Peglet."

As much as one can tear shit up at Deadco, of course.

Hey, if crazy's what you want, there's way too much to miss, at the festival
If you're looking for romance, well you can find this, down at the festival
Or maybe some adventure, maybe with a little twist, down at the festival
Yeah the festival, festival

Plenty color in the sun, but look out for the shade, at the festival
If you're lookin' for some fun, you got it made, down at the festival
Don't need no excuse to have a parade, down at the festival
Hey the festival, festival

The acid made me go....

Not really.

I didn't go.

>>>>>>Of course I was being sarcastic.

But that doesn't mean you're not a jerk when you post back to me.<<<<<<

No shit Sherlock.  You get back what you put out there.  You we're a jerk but tried to hide it.  I'll come right out and tell it like it is.

>>>>>>>Do we secretly like each other?

You might like me but I think you're a turd.

>>>>You we're a jerk but tried to hide it.

''we're a jerk''

does this mean, we were jerks or we're both jerks? or is there another one of you?

No blame should be placed for that gem.

11. because it could be fun.

jeez louise,  this place might cave without bobby, dead n co criticism.

Thanks to those who support the music, know how to have fun and appreciate the connection to GD.

Its so much easier to be positive!!!

Yo, Fly!  You watching Germany v Chile?

>>>1.  Shakes has been doing a killer Nights in White Satin on lot.

Now, I might show up for that.

OK there's the inevitable "you guys don't know how to be positive & have fun" lecture.

I had fun, enjoying the venue, the sound, the weather, the people around me, was as positive & happy as could be all day & night, but, sorry to say, I still felt/ thought it was lacking musically, especially the inability to even try to pull off a transition between Black Peter & I Know You Rider.  Sorry but maybe because of my age or showgoing experience or the configuration of my brain (I am high functioning autistic after all), I am way too aware/ able to recognize when something is just downright Pathetic, & am simply not able to just ignore/ stifle/ bury that feeling.

Then there were the legions of folks around me @ the show, from the x-ed out wooks to the normal guys drinking bud lite tall boys, who didn't for a second pay any attention to the music/ move or dance or sway to the music, but just babbled aggressively all night long.  I guess they know how to support the music & have fun more than I do?  Not sure why they paid $54 + $10 parking when they coulda had the same experience @ the neighborhood bar?  Guess they appreciate the connection to the GD more than I do?

Oh and by the way my critique of DeadCo is probably more muted than it was last year, since as of last year, Phil was still an ongoing thing, now it seems he's only playing w/Terrapin Family Band, which is more Pathetic than DeadCo from a musical perspective IMHO.  So there's always that . . . good thing we have recordings from the old days of shows we thought sucked back then . . .

Fun thread.  Except for Fly.  Guy try’s to ruin everything.

1. I was given free tickets

2. Got a $20 ticket

3. It was close by so I thought I'd check it out

4. Wanted to see 3 original members play together

5. My friends wanted to check it out

6. Closing out this chapter of my life

7. My wife is going, so Imma pretend like I'm not going (but I am going).

8. Complete and total redemption

Looking for a lot grilled cheese sandwich

 Shakedown Street

DNB was not playing July 3

that's all I got

I only go 'cuz I there's always a chance to meet Sixer.

Earl, there is zero chance you will meet me at a Bro & Slow show.

JF'nM!

(That was the joke), my old buddy... stay with me here.

When they're  playing  5 minutes  from home I'll go  to check it the scene and  do some shopping on Shakedown street and see if I can find  a ticket when I get there. if not, no biggie.

I'd go if the PNC bank arts center or Atlantic city

I ran out of gas! I got a flat tire! I didn’t have change for cab fare! I lost my tux at the cleaners! I locked my keys in the car! An old friend came in from out of town! Someone stole my car! There was an earthquake! A terrible flood! Locusts! IT WASN’T MY FAULT, I SWEAR TO GOD!

Because I have a really good time when I see them and like the music and the way they play it.

> Because I have a really good time when I see them and like the music and the way they play it. <

Exactly! I

Havent seen a member of the band perform since 11/11/11. Seemed like a good date to end on. also seems i havent missed alot, the tapes dont really get much repeat airtime.

I’ve offended with #1 twice.  I get a credit for 1 of those though as I declined a Tix for this tour.

I had a brain cramp...

But that's not my excuse because I don't need one. You wouldn't catch me at one of those shit shows if my life depended on it...

I will take a pass.

No desire.

I never saw Jerry.

With the exception of "that fat guy doesn't move when he plays," these excuses remind me of those that my non-head friends used when going to Grateful Dead.
