Surf:Fair – SW at 2-4 ft.

Surface:Smooth

Sky:Clear at 6 miles

Flag:RED - Conditions are HAZARDOUS to all swimmers

Note:Water is closed from North Beach to Lost Winds Beach due to several 10 - 12 foot sharks sighted between the pier and North Beach.

Don't think I'll be free diving Feltchers Cove kelp paddys again anytime soon.

Is he feeding them?

no he is not, and its illegal.

however.......he did mention another outfit is towing a boogie board seal cut out so people can watch the sharks attack it....dud should be flogged in the public square.

34 yrs in the water, never seen anything like this.

They used to hang in Baja.  BUILD A WALL!

Seriously. I go in the ocean way less than you and the last few years it's hard not to think about.  Which also could be attributed to having little kids too.  I've been more cautious about a lot of things since 2012.

well. i think i will try tomorrow...

and yes once little kai gets muched, i'm sure they'll wanna build a wall...or net...

gunion...

"Spawning occurs from March through August, and occasionally in February and September. Peak spawning is late March to early June."

We have reports of 4 different GW off the coast of central and south Florida this year. That is very odd. We would usually hear of 1 every 5 or 6 years. Last year I think they saw 2 separate ones. Something is changing in our oceans for sure. Our water isn't even cold.

Great Whites aren't exclusive to cold water.

Grew up surfing New England, and esp. Cape Cod. Never any shark worries or sightings. When I moved to the WC (OR) I did worry - Red Triangle and all. Never seen one in my 40 years here - knock on wood - but I guess they have frequent sightings now on Cape Cod, a few attacks, patrols, etc.

sketchy

turts- its World Turtle Day

On average, there are 16 shark attacks per year in the United States, with one fatality every two years.

More dangerous to drive to the beach than to get in the water. I blame Spielberg for people's irrational fear.

thanks 4 winds...

well the statistical odds are very low....but when there are 15-25 in a 5+ mile vicinity.....its nuts.

and ender you can tell that to the woman in the hospital still having multiple surgeries....

>> and ender you can tell that to the woman in the hospital still having multiple surgeries....

Why would I tell her? She's obviously not irrationally scared of sharks - she got in the water.

^ your view is very black and white.

You guys are fearmongering sharks like Seadog does Muslims.

ender, i am highlighting an extremely unusual occurrence.

since it happens to take place in the county and city in which i reside and spend a lot of time in the water, it is of interest.

if i was "scared" i would have gotten out of the water when the lifeguards alerted the pack that there was a shark 50 yards south of everyone. i kept surfing...

again, this is abnormal.

although there have always been sharks here....the influx of DOZENS of them is new...

i have personally seen them 2x+ in the water...

you can call it irrational if you want, does not take back that the 1st almost fatality ever in these parts happens to be at a place i frequent.

do you do any activity that puts you in contact with potentially dangerous wild animals?

He disc golfs; I think

maybe where there are alligators? and there happens to be an abnormal influx of them?

Wild boars.
