Forums:

The neighborhood is coming together. Five years since the flood and we are almost back to normal here.

Takes a while after a natural disaster. Good to see things are almost back to normal.

That was from Sandy correct??

Didn't a lot of people scoff at the weatherman over-hyping that storm???

Some people took it very hard.

>That was from Sandy correct??<

Correct.

>Didn't a lot of people scoff at the weatherman over-hyping that storm<

Yep, especially folks who grew up here. I knew we would flood when the meteorologist said that Sandy would be much like the "perfect storm,"  except this one will be over land(as opposed to 300 mi out to sea) We evacuated, unlike most of my friends and neighbors.

Respect to Mother Nature.

I hope that's a houseboat.

I mean, this global warming thing is only going in one direction for the foreseeable future.

Looks like a cheap modular home .Low quality construction .I grew up at the shore and have been through  a ot of flooding full moon nor easters .Those houses should be removed from fema support they will flood again it's only a matter of time . One Of my best friends family  estate was all of Bayhead back in the day .The whole town was there family summer home .My republican relatives have had fema pay for there house twice in NJ WTF!

I really feel for you guys. I mean, we got flooded in Irene, but the overall devastation was nothing for us like it was for you. For us it was just in pockets, and people a block away were fine. Sure, we had 3 feet of water in the first floor, it fucked shit up and financially devastated me, but I feel lucky compared to Sandy or Katrina. We were back in the house 5 months later.

Doc, I hear you. That barrier island floods regularly. My neighborhood was built in the early 60's and Sandy was the first flood event for us.

Re Republicans with their hands out...

My town is overwhelmingly Republican and folks were lining up for grant money. The catch was that to be eligible you needed to wait for the grant program to be in place and funded before starting construction.  I couldn't wait.

Brian, it was similar here. Folks two to three blocks from the water had no water.

I thought Saint Edward of Garfield had returned, given the thread title.

Carry on.

Just keep teachin the dogs how to swim, tom...

Hope all is well

Jambone, the one is part German shorthaired pointer, she has webbed feet.

Things are well enough. Hope all is well on your end.

Looks like it's coming down

I grew up in split ranch (back faced a canal) in Seaford, on the south shore of Long Island. I'm on large ranch now, but 3 miles north of the shore.

I'm sensitive to the damage Sandy caused. Hang tuff.

Thanks, blue. We've been back home for three years. We started right away and were among the first twenty to get our CO.  Like I posted earlier, we couldn't wait

That's great. I saw how nice it came out too. Enjoy it. It's pretty there.

There are plethora bad contractors out here on LI that hawked the vulnerable, flooding the courts.

Its like a Lego house.

Water it like a bulb and POP up springs a house.

Neato

Chia house.
