Zoner Down, now Up Again - Not Dead Yet

Forums:

Hey spent the last 4 weeks in hospital and treatment center after a safety check on me from work. Doing great, whole new world out there, please send good energy, same hardware, new software!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE

Glad to hear you're doing well now, RocknRye, but Zoner Back Up might've been a better thread title.

So glad you're not really a Zoner Down in the usual sense. Something like Mike's thread title suggestion might be easier on our hearts.

I can make that change if you'd like...

I support that new thread title!
RocknRye that's a long time in the hospital.
Excellent news that you are feeling healthy again.

Take good care.  ((((healing vibes)))

Yeah, I gotta' say, my heart dropped when I saw the thread and I hesitated and braced myself before opening it.

No disrespect to the author, and yay, it's always good to hear good news, but what's the protocol for changing the title of a thread?

Normally I'm against outside editing of any kind, but some form of Zoner Up! would be more accurate and would set a much better tone on the main screen. Just my 1 cent.

And once again, congratulations on persevering RnR, it's never easy to get up from a crisis, good work.

And also yay to the people who worried about you and reached out. Those folks win a cookie.

((((((vibes))))))

I've sent RocknRye an email hoping for some direction. I hope we have the correct email address.

The protocol is unwritten, Lance.

That's my favorite type of protocol.

Carry on.

If I found myself in a situation where I wanted to start a thread like this one, I think I'd go with Not Dead Yet.

>>>>whole new world out there,.....LOVE, LOVE, LOVE

sounds like you survived your first ayahuasca ceremony....lol

Glad you're feeling revived.

Zoner UP! Not unlike "batter up" yes

Glad you're a zoner who's BackUp

RocknRye, how are you doing? I've been thinking about you, maybe we all have, wondering how you are and hope you can let us know.

I hope you are a Zoner Up, as much as you can be. love to you

Hey thanks for all the love and concern.

Yes not really down, I was at first but yes up again.

Just home today, feeling good but taking it slow, it's a new way of looking at things.

Only had phone and computer for half hour once a week in there.

More later.

Thank You,

Randy

Sorry for the bad thread title!!!!

Thread title changed with Randy's permission.

Wishing you well, and as they say, hoping you'll keep truckin' on.

NOW we're talking.

Good luck, and keep that love light on!

Glad you're back "in the pink."  Here's to positive happenings. All the best.....

Undead to the core

keep that Love Light on, and leave it on!

Thank you all, I felt an abundance of positive from y'all and it helped me absolutely it did.

So what happened?

Well, after a long history of moderate consumption, I lost interest in doing the things I like and escalated my intake ETOH and others to the point of isolation. Blew off a vacation, Billy Strings@Bethel Woods, wasn't talking or returning calls and texts to friends and family. The final weekend of it all I did was rot on the couch and consume things other than food morning noon and night. Lost my desire to do anything, my cheese done slid off my cracker. Didn't show up for work Monday 7/20 or return calls and texts from same, so a safety check was called and I agreed to help and went to the hospital that night for a week of cleaning up, followed by another 5 days of chasing out hospital acquired sepsis. Really scary because I have bilateral fake hips and if the infection gets in those..................really bad outcome.

I was transferred to a really great rehab and recovery facility and proceeded to undergo some intense small group sessions and other more repetitive larger sessions. All sorts of people were in there, construction guys working on Market Street bridge replacement in Philly, finance people, helicopter service guy, housewives, ER nurses, a surgeon, gang bangers, all orientations of gender and sexuality were there. Lots of kids on the 7-OH spiral, Kensington droopers and crack heads too. Some in very dire situations, no home to go to after running the program, no family support.

All those differences were leveled by our common need and acceptance of help. I had lots of great conversations and the honesty and openness was on another level that I had never experienced before, me included. We were all the same in there and it was like weights being lifted off of you.

Home as of yesterday, doing really well. Went to see Rush last night, Friday, and had a great great time and remembered it all! Many temptations but no desire to pick up again. I want it to stay that way!

"sounds like you survived your first ayahuasca ceremony....lol"

I might as well have, crazy hallucinations during detox, all seemed real at the time, looking back on the insanity is humbling to the core.

That's my story, going to outpatient sessions starting next week and a slow return to work are on the schedule.

Love To All, thank you for the good vibes and concern.

Carry On!

Thanks for sharing your story, glad you are on this side of it. I'm not without a similar story as I'm sure many of his here are, life's crazy....On another note, This Rush tour is incredible, unbelievable really. You can take it metaphorically, bouncing back after a tremendous setback....

RnR, your story reminds me of the last days of my drinking career, and especially the increasing isolation you describe. Glad to hear you got the help you needed. If you'd ever like to chat about things, my email address is in my profile.
