My Sisters And My Brothers

Today I was doing what I pretty much do every day, play-testing the.vintage records I've acquired so I can grade them before slapping a price on them and putting them out in my store for sale.  It has the benefit of exposing me to a lot of music I probably wouldn't have listened to otherwise.   

That's how I wound up listening to The Boones "Heavenly Love" album from 1979, where they do a fairly competent cover of the Charles Johnson composition, adhering closely to the JGB arrangement. This is The Boones' version:

 The Boones were a group of four sisters, the daughters of Pat Boone, led by Debbie Boone, who is best remembered for her song "You Light Up My Life", which had a run of 10 weeks as the #1 song on the U.S. Pop charts in the mid-70s.

It was originally recorded by the gospel group The Sensational Nightingales, who Charles Johnson was a member of, in 1974.  Here's their version:

Always loved the JGB versions.  Thought some of you might dig these other renditions.  Who knew Jerry Garcia and Debbie Boone share something in common?
