In some satanic shower
Everyone was weeping in all of China

It was one of the great
It was one of the great shocks and disillusioning events in my life. I watched the idealism and days of protest and it looked like a democratic revolution had come to China. Then the movement was crushed with appalling violence live on television. We will never know how many were murdered.
What turned out even more horrible was how within a very short time it was business as usual with the PRC. They should have been ostracized from the civilized world, a pariah like North Korea. It shows, sure as you are born, that democracy and human rights are not the priority of those who own the wealth and rule the world, business and money$ trump all.

Yes, Roarshock.It really was disheartening. Soul crushing.
Can you imagine the hopelessness that was felt after having a glimpse of massive societal change, and having it crushed violently while the free world looked on? I can't imagine. And how many are still in prison or re-education camps?
Some day I'm gonna write a song about some Chinese students my buddy told me about. They came to a dark skies community in southern Utah where there was an observatory they would visit. The students were absolutely blown away by all the stars. It really is amazing gazing up from my buddy's hot tub. But the sad thing was, they had never seen stars like that in Bejing. Ever. And now that they're back, they know what they're missing, and the fantastic show behind the pollution. How sad.
