Forums:

San Jose is commemorating the anniversary of the first Grateful Dead show tonight.

Just another example of how if you stick around long enough ANYthing will become mainstream.

I was thinking of heading over there today, but then I thought again.

Ya'll have probably seen this one already.  Is it mainstream now??

M's reading Bill Kreutzmann's book, Deal, which had us looking for a playboy mansion party on you tube......a quick talk w/Jerry and the Dead starts at 23 minutes....the Dead played at the playboy mansion, never knew.   A shorter, more direct version can also be found, but I wanted to see a little of what the 70's were like...needless to say, it's easy to skip over some chunks.  Necessary, in fact!

That link doesn't open for me, but I'm assuming it's the Playboy After Dark episode featuring that wholesome, clean cut musical group called the Grateful Dead, which I think was filmed at a studio, not the actual mansion.

The lore is that those bad boys dosed the coffee and all the "cool" extras along with the band were dosed.

It's always fun to watch that one, Jerry's interview is brilliant and the Mountains of the Moon is beautiful. They were at possibly their highest peak at that point.

Here it is again, in case anyone is interested...

Happy 60th Grateful Dead.

Way to go.

Now keep on going.

Yes, thank you, Lance, for posting the link.  I did watch more of the party, skimming through much of it, so somehow it can be found...Playboy after dark, Grateful dead 1969...interesting chess board...
