I went with the Mrs last night. It's another level. What an attentive respectful crowd. No show talkers there. Divided Sky will be forever in my memory.
I watched the entire show last night, which is almost unheard of for me. The acoustic Divided Sky was really good and the entire second set was great.
It's been years since I've seen TAB, Trey's really got that band dialed in. The bass player is outstanding and the added string quartet wasn't superfluous as strings so often are in rock, but really added to the sound.
This band is much less severe than Phish, their sound is more refined and focused, even on the Phish songs, so even if you don't like Phish you may well like this.
Thought these were going to be rebroadcasts of the 2020 shows. Looks like I missed a hot shoe last night. WGTYM is one of my favorite songs right now. Tuning in now, sounds great. I'm not sure I'd describe Phish as 'severe' but this band definitely has a fuller sound that, ironically, doesn't put Trey so front and center. Lots of talent in this band and they play enough that they're quite tight. Phil borrowed this horn section a few times, to great effect. Glad I get to GTTS even if from the couch.
Well, tonight was OK but IMO not nearly as good as last night. I listened to it all while watching my mediocre Warriors play the sad Pelicans, and parts (of the show, not so much the game) were very good, but for me there were too many Trey ballads and random songs tonight.
The band still had a fine sound (and that bass player is fucking great) but it was the song selection in general that as an admitted huge Phish fan completely paled in comparison to last night for me. Trey seemed really lit last night and the set list was surprisingly heavy with Phish songs, and in my personal opinion GOOD Phish songs, that were played differently and really well with much more fire & flow overall than tonight.
Of course the beauty & the risk of this type of music of ours is that every night is different, and not every night works the same way.
And another beautiful part of this type of music is that every night hits every person differently, so naturally, YMMV.
As for Phish being "severe" compared to TAB, maybe 'extreme' would have been a better word to use, with TAB generally staying inside the lines while Phish usually starts beyond any lines and then challenges/dares you to stay with them.
Either way, I think my point is accurate that even when playing Phish songs TAB is a much more accessible band than Phish.
Also that TAB is an excellent, top-tier band. I'll be listening tomorrow while watching football.

I think ego gets in the way at Phish where the TAB is Treys baby so he is focused on all the members getting it right , instead of playing somewhere in the cloud of notes the other band mate create.
I agree night 1 was better but still phucking phenomenal musicianship all-around. For whatever reason the keys, especially organ, were filling up my rear speakers so it was an all-enveloping sound. I'm surprised the neighbors didn't come banging on my front door. They absolutely have to do "Drift While I'm Sleeping" tonight as that was the highlight of the first Beacon Jams for me. Never miss a Sunday shoe!

Not that familiar with Phish/Trey tunes. I went for the jams and was not disappointed. Kind of a buzz kill for me when the strings came out in the middle of the 2nd set, but a solid show.
Like a jazz group, every band member got at least one chance to shine, and the band seemed really real happy and into it.
When I realized that it had been a year since Phil passed and that I had not seen a single show since, I got tix for DSO, O'Tiel & Friends, YES, Pat Methany and Trey tonight.
DSO underwhelmed that night, O'tiel had a great band doing Meh material and I skipped YES. Pat Methany was solo acoustic - summed up by the guy in the row in front of me being asked to leave for snoring.
Tonight was a good one. Good to be back in the game ....

The entire show was smokin' but damn, they surrendered to the flow in that second set.
I can never listen to a full stream, but these were seriously good shows that held my interest, and more.
Were these considered TAB shows? Because they sure played a lot of Phish songs, and played them really well.
I'd certainly pay to see this band, especially with the string quartet, but even without.
And ESPECIALLY if they keep playing really different versions of great Phish songs!
(Once again, that bass player is fucking great!)
A really fine set of shows, for a really good cause.
