When I was reading John Barlow's autobiography Mother American Night a few months ago, I was surprised that Barlow had some good things to say about Cheney. I'm thinking the subtitle of Barlow's book–My Life in Crazy Times–might have something to do with that assessment.
Fuck you, Dick Cheney. Another war criminal bites the dust.
From flunking out of Yale and getting two DUI's to serving in the Nixon, Ford, and 2 Bush's administrations, maybe not our trip, but a long strange trip nonetheless.

From what I remember they were neighbors and got along well, but then split over nuke policy.
In a somewhat related story I was flying to a show and was wearing my Grateful Dead Bertha belt buckle. I was stretching my legs and this very well dressed older lady which at the time probably meant mid 40's struck up a conversation with me and asked me if I knew John Barlow and wanted to know if he really was part of the Grateful Dead. He was her neighbor in Wyoming and she didn't believe the stories he had been telling her.
