Graham Nash is sounding now just as good as he has the last few times I’ve seen him, when he greeted me at the Soundcheck(only 4 of us, so very personal feeling) it was like saying hi to an old friend. He fell and injured his knee last month, had surgery and yet still delivered a fantastic show for the first of 2 shows at this old 400 seat church in small town America. Acoustics here are very intimate, lending themselves well to Grahams style, although they definitely rocked hard on a few numbers with everyone on their feet…
While there were few surprises for anyone that has seen him the last few tours, there were still several new additions since I last saw him.
The biggest surprise came at the end of the night when Grahams tech came out and taped a lyric sheet to his monitor, after the final encore, a quick band huddle followed by an announcement that they “are gonna do one more, we’ve never played this one so if we F$&@ it up, we’re sorry” and proceeded to bring the house down with a full band attack on Suite:Judy Blue Eyes…. They nailed it
I was lucky to be able to grab Grahams pick, his setlist, as well as the lyric cheat sheet he used for SJBE. I was also able to grab a full show recording including the soundcheck so that should be available at some point, where such things are found
wonder what’s in store for us tonight!

Cool beans. Perfect place
Cool beans. Perfect venue for him.
He was the only one of CSN who consistently kept his shit together. Seen his solo show and its great, but I imagine he tells the same stories and plays the same songs every night, so its cool you got a Suite Judy Blue Eyes (even though its a Stills song). Songs for Beginners is in regular rotation on the turntable.

Yes he acknowledges songs as
Yes he acknowledges songs as written by others, always does..part of the stories...said Stills is the best songwriter he ever worked with. He also did Love the One tour With and I've seen him do 4+20 and Orleans (Crosby) among others. He always pays tribute to the writers. He did Bus Stop and told a good Graham Gouldman story. I've seen him do Buddy Holly and Beatles too. Love his stories and like McCartney, he's def earned the rights to keep telling em over and over.
hoping for a couple change ups tonight but will be happy to just see it all again. Maybe Pre Road Downs?
Cool side note: I requested Brokedown Palace during the sound check and they played it, with Zack taking the lead vocals. Very surprising. Also today is the 35th anniversary of CSN opening for the GD at Rich Stadium so may dig out my old Buffalo Dead 1990 shirt and see if it fits...

Another great night in Homer.
Another great night in Homer... only 6 of us tonight at Soundcheck and he said "oh you again" with a smile when he walked out and said "please don't boo all my stories tonight since you already know them!" I assured him I had already forgotten them. He of course went on to tell a few different stories anyway.... Soundcheck was about 20 minutes and featured a gorgeous Sleep Song which wasn't played the night before boding well for inclusion in the main set.
As they were wrapping up, the guitar player Zach asked me what the Dead request for today was, I laughed and said how bout Stella Bue, he said "how bout Jack Straw?" I said "sure!" And they wrapped up with a nice Jack Straw. Fun stuff
couple pics, one from the top of the venue to give a sense of just how intimate this place is
Cathedral:
My big thrill came late in the show, after Teach your Children, Graham pointed at me and said into the mic, "Hey I really like your shirt!" I said "Thanks, you were there!" and turned around to show him the back with CSN on it. He laughed and gave me a thumbs up. Def a epic stage/ crowd interaction moment for me and I am hoping the moment translates well on the audio recording.
here's a shot my buddy Matt took of the balcony just after that moment
Here's one of a couple videos I took, Just a Song Before I Go
