Remembering the HEROES of D-Day, June 6, 1944

Forums:

One of the most if not the most momentous events in the history of our country and the world. What courage. What sacrifice. Greatest generation, indeed. I can't even imagine.

We owe them so much. We owe them the devotion to preserve the democracy they died to protect. To fight fascism wherever we see it.

Fascism ? A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, a capitalist economy subject to stringent governmental controls, violent suppression of the opposition, and typically a policy of belligerent nationalism and racism.

Seen any lately?

Thank you all who served.  Much gratitude here.  The LIBERATION of GERMANY, how remarkable!!!

I'll be there on June 21     ....  :-)

Normandy?  I'd love to go someday.

Yes Mr Slick - Paris >>> Normandy >>>> Belgium.

Should be interesting.    We'll get some photos.

I went there in 2019 - my dad was a WWII vet and came through Normandy although not on D-Day (D minus 9). Fought all the way through Europe including Battle of the Bulge. Bronze Star, Puple Heart. Never talked about it and I had to grow up to understand way. Visiting Normandy was beyond moving for me.

war is over

if you want it

Unfortunately Jill, the assholes starting wars don't ask us, so it doesn't matter what we want. Sooner or later, after too much destruction and killing, hopefully, peace does come. Sad when the money rules.

Normandy is on my bucket list, Klondike. Hope I make it someday. It is a holy place.
