Tenacious D Tour Canceled Over Trump Joke

Forums:

JB announced he was canceling the rest of the tour over Kage's Trump joke.  It's like Tenacious D never said anything offensive or in bad taste.

You blew it, Kage, you blew it, Kage
You played the worst shit you've ever fucking played
You blew it, Kage, you blew it, Kage

Come on

Tenacious D tour stopped as Jack Black 'blindsided' by Kyle Gass' Trump comment Jack Black has spoken out against his bandmate Kyle Gass's controversial comment about an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

The 54-year-old "School of Rock" actor said he was "blindsided" by Gass's remark, "don't miss Trump next time," made on stage during their Tenacious D show on Sunday. Black announced he will no longer perform with Gass on the current Tenacious D tour: "I would never condone hate speech or encourage political violence in any form," Black said. "After much reflection, I no longer feel it is appropriate to continue the Tenacious D tour, and all future creative plans are on hold. I am grateful to the fans for their support and understanding." During the Sunday show, Black presented a birthday cake to Gass and asked him to make a wish. Gass responded with the controversial comment, referencing the attempted assassination of Trump on Saturday.

Yeah Ken, odd. Is Jack afraid of retaliatory violence or just protecting his career?

NBC canceled "Morning Joe" on Monday. Joe and Mike were not very pleased. Threatened to quit if it happened again.

Jack feels very strongly about never flying coach again.

I'm not a fan yet good for Black.

>>>Is Jack afraid of retaliatory violence

I would be.   Smart move.

The Boogie Man is out there

Seeing how The D is part comedy, it's a bit odd to cancel shows via an ill-mannered Kyle comment. Perhaps there were some death threats from down under.

The additional statement about "all creative plans are no hold" is kinda silly. No need to be overly pious about it.

Points to likely other underlying issues imho

eye roll

JB probably got a mouth full from his manager about how he was going to lose out on major movie deals, something Kage doesn't have to worry about much.

But it does set up a classic "VH1 Behind the Music" fallout and reunion story.

It's the perfect cover for lagging ticket sales
