Biggest reggae show my local college town has ever seen! Plus its in 114 Yr old historic theater with only a 950 GA capacity, so its a no-brainer.  Wasn't so upset about $69.50 but the $19.00 (un-avoidable) venue service fee was annoying...  Oh well, money well spent for helping to bring Spear's high-energy, positive, bombastic, uplifting ire vibes around!!

looking forward to it

I paid for 2 tix @$40 each $105.86 for asheville

$74 before fees here. i thought the last time was the last time. glad spear is still going! if anyone has not gone, they should. one of the last remaining titans of the entire genre.

Saw him a few years back and that dude was a spry old fellow with way more energy than people half his age.  Must be the reefer.

He killed it in boonville and roaring camp last year

only seen him twice, once in cincy, oh. at a lil place called ripley's

and richmond, in. at earlham college, both in '94

earlham show was a trip, small town college

his vibe was bigger than the whole town

Even with launching his music career back in 1969, nobody will accuse Burning Spear for being slowed down by the sands of time!  Daaaayyyuuuummm!
Almost felt like they applied JRAD musical approach to his own music catalog.  Super up-tempo yet extremely powerful, detailed mosaic of movement infectious grooves.  Spear looked healthy, his voice was velvet, deep, rich, and booming.  Only my second show (first was 2010 Sonoma County fairgrounds) but i was familiar enough with his songs to know his band --The Burning Band--was tight, thunderous, and very high emery.  (Same bass player, a lion on drums, and of course the horn section backing him up).  Even the opening band was worth being early for.  (They even played a great version of Red Gold & Green)

Tried to use Shazam app on phone to capture setlist.  LMAO!  It failed miserably to recognize any of first (3) songs so i bailed, but you will be thrilled with the setlist.
Small venue, close proximity, so much love and celebration of life and music.  Really evident that Spear was having a great time, and the triple encore was pretty solid!

Encore:  1. Rainbows? (unsure of actual song title)> Marcus Garvey> African Postman

We are so lucky to be able to catch living-legends live in concert.  Please do whatever you can to catch this tour if you enjoy reggae music; i left with a music-buzz/fade like i had been crushing bongs of kind for hours, even though my stash was securely left at home.  As another Zoner wisely reminds us:  "Go To The Show!"

nice review!

i'm in the process of moving so shows are not on my radar at the moment...

I mean, he's arguably the greatest of all time in Reggae.

anyone got a lead on NEW ROOTS reggae music?
