in north america they were almost extinct by the late 1960's because of DDT which was basically sprayed on all farm crops which inevitably included lots of falcons and their food
now because of smart and successful breeding programs and preservation efforts these magnificent birds are no longer endangered. unlisted. Peregrines typically live about 15 years.
