Billy & The Kids Saenger Theatre 4/27 presale (jazz fest)

From Billy's FB page;

<< Friends,

As you may have guessed, I’m heading down to Jazz Fest a little early this year and I’m taking my band, Billy & The Kids with me, for a special celebration that we’re calling “Fleur De Dead” (“Flower of the Dead”). It’s at The Saenger Theatre on Thursday, April 27th.

I heard tickets might go fast and I want to keep them in the right hands - yours. So there will be an artist pre-sale beginning tomorrow, Wednesday, March 22, at 10:00 AM CDT. Want the code? Sure, no worries. Just sign up at --> http://eepurl.com/hBbqSX so we can verify that you’re a fan and not a bot. We’ll send you an email with all the relevant info before the pre-sale begins.

To keep it friendly for all, tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday at 10:00 AM CDT. But you’re not the general public, so get in line before then and make sure you’re set for tomorrow. Make a note of the time zone and don’t mess up!! (Can you tell that I want YOU to be there?)

Bring your dancing shoes because, frankly... I’m ready to jam.

Really sweet graphic. I'm gonna want a t-shirt with that on it.

Great to see Bill the drummer back in action

Will they do an acoustic set followed by two electric sets like the GD did when they played there in 1980 between the Warfield and RCMH runs?

I thought this was a Billy Strings thread

Awesoome, when you make as awe outta you and Me, Wish I could go

TBH this is probably the best GD related band featuring a living GD member in 2023, and has been for years. id go to this over 90% of current PLF lineups, and certianly 100% of deadco, without question.

Another guest!

Forever Young after Franklins^^^

I'm just listening to the second set now, and that Forever Young really gave James Casey some trouble.

He left the stage in tears

Yeah, he said he mom was watching, and I thought he was going to lose it right then.

Dude's so talented, I hope he can put it behind him post-haste.

What happened??

He flubbed the lyrics, and never really recovered from it.

He seemed to be suddenly overtaken by emotion, possibly triggered by the lyrics of the song while beginning to allude to his "long ass day", etc. I felt bad for him. It has to be challenging to perform through really shitty days but that is stage life and life overall too.

That aside, time got away from the band and they had to skip much of what was apparently planned, including a double encore that included Quinn The Eskimo (based on some of the camera work that showed the set list).

Just watched Eyes on youtube from this show.  Wow is my response. This band is hot and there is nothing lacking in Billy's drumming. He is obviously very happy during this gig.  Go get 'em Billy.  I'd say this is the best Dead incarnation going that has any of the original members. Phil continually surprises, so who can know what the future gigs look like for Phil & Friends. Father time is certainly ticking very loudly these days.

> Mike, and anyone else who wants a t-shirt

Thanks, Zooey.

Boy was that boring.  I didn't watch the whole thing but ouch. That eyes was super boring and plodding as was the Truckin'.  Glad those who enjoyed it enjoyed it but that was not a performance any of them should be proud of.

Flubbing lyrics/phrasing has kinda been James' thing.  He usually seems to laugh it off.

He should listen to some some GD boots.  Not to bone up on lyrics but to realize neither Jerry or Bob could get through a night (a set?) w/o fugnup, after knowing the songs cold for years.
