Singapore executes man for trafficking two pounds of cannabis

They take their rules very seriously in Singapore, and they aren't vague about it.  Dude should have known better.

For a place where the favorite pastimes are movies and food, cannabis prohibition seems blasphemous.

It's even worse than it seems at first. He was just talking about it.

From the CNN link: "Tangaraju was sentenced to death in 2018 for “abetting the trafficking of more than one kilogram of cannabis (1,017.9 grams),” according to a statement from the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB). The court found he was in phone communication with two other men caught trying to smuggle cannabis into Singapore."

Recently went to Korea and Japan and thoroughly went through and cleaned my bags beforehand making sure there wasn't a single flake of flower or random vape or gummy because of the draconian drug laws there.  Which is ironic becuase you can get booze 24 hours a day in Japan (they even sell beer in vending machines) and the per capita hard alcohol consumption in Korea is the highest in the world (twice as high as the number 2 country Russia).

The only time I had to take a drug test for work was the job I got after traveling in Asia for a year. I passed easily, probably the only time I could have passed since I was in high school.

Thailand was the most messed up. In the guest houses in Bangkok they had signs up inviting people to visit westerners that were in jail so they had someone to talk to. Then you go out to the islands where the big raves were and they had stands set up on the beach with signs selling MDMA. All about the corruption.

I did chance it one night and went to an underground party in Bangkok at a gay bath house by day party place by night. It was fine when I was there, but told my friends about it who were in Bangkok a month later and the police raided it while they were there. They had to jump to the roof across the alley three stories up to get away. Good story they can tell their kids now that they are going into college.

Thailand has legal weed now. Trying to get the tourists back after Covid.

Clean sidewalks but still a shithole.

Protecting children is always the go-to, bullshit excuse for not legalizing.  More guns, please.
