yup! All I did was net it for her. My wife got the entire battle on video it's priceless. Beat the second place fish by over 6"

Fishcane... bait, or artificial lure?

I loved to fish as a kid, but I was a young adult before I caught a rainbow that big! That one looks to be about 18-20 inches long... nice catch!

She got it on a worm. Taped out in the derby at 22"just over 4 lbs

She schooled a couple 12 year old boys on how to stab a worm onto a hook afterward. We live on the water so my kids catch all kinds of fish and are pretty comfortable with a rod. Still surprised she managed this one all on her own tho

Could be a light gear record. If she is catching big ones like that she may need a bigger Rod and reel, although she may not want to give up the nice green and purple rod yet.My twin daughters both fish.

These are the coolest threads. Fantastic work here zoners.

Just for you Judit! The flickers come off the mountains in the Fall & spend the Winter here in the Desert.
They feed on the berries of the washingtonia palms down here. My neighbor has two palms in their front yard.
I was still surprised to see this one in my Palo Verde tree a few days ago.......

My grow partner is going to see Billy in OKC on  Sat. 10/15. He contacted Billy's photographer. Jesse , and asked if they wanted some weed. Of course, Yes. This has been in glass curing since 8/21. Ghost @ 30% and over 3 terps. Hopefully he gets a pic with Jesse and Billy. We'll see.

nearby....i like the message, but I also like keeping my distance.

20221007_105956.jpg

Dan! I've never seen a flicker with that much close detail, even though I hear them in my yard. Thank you, it's stunning. Exciting!

And though I've heard him or her nearby in my yard I haven't seen it in the trees. My eyes were bad til recently, now I can actually see things like fur and feathers 15 feet away, but not like the pic you mentioned me with. What you captured will carry my spirits for quite a while.

somewhere in Oregon's coast range

I love that tree, LLOLLO. Sitka Spruce? Just guessing.

Isn't it cool, Judit?   You are correct:

Sitka spruce (Picea sitchensis)

Sitka spruce is the largest spruce species on the planet. With a diameter that can grow as large as 16 feet at its base, Sitka spruce is an impressive behemoth to behold, especially in an old-growth forest setting. Only found in a narrow band along the Oregon Coast, Sitka spruce do well throughout the fog belt and in the floodplains of rivers and streams. Despite their limited range, Sitka spruce can tolerate a lot of different coastal landscapes from salty dune islands and sandy beaches to rocky headlands and tidal swamps.

Sitka Spruce trees have wide cylindrical trunks with grey-brown bark that looks like paint chipping of an old wall.  Its light-colored cones have papery-thin scales with jagged edges—often seen strewn along the trail in bunches. Sitka spruce can be easy to tell apart from other coastal forest dwellers by their sharply pointed needles that stick out on short pedestals on each twig in a bottle-brush arrangement. If you grab a branch in your palm it will hurt. Just remember, “Sitka will Stick-ya.”

I also learned that besides Sitka, there are only 2 other spruces native to Oregon, Brewers and Englemann (found above 4,000 ft elevation)

Boulder a few days ago.
