39 years ago-What a night. I remember riding The LIRR to The Garden knowing they were going to play St. Stephen having been to Charlotte when they were so close in between Not Fade & Sugar Magnolia but declined to pull the trigger. Was not as bad as Red Rocks 82 tease though that was just mean.

It was Greensboro.....

I was in Rochester, gritting my teeth that I could only go to the (somewhat average) Syracuse show.

Missing NY shows like Lake Placid, Binghamton and MSG while actually living in NY sucked.

I didn't make the Garden show, but caught my Stephen a few days later in Hartford.

Went to the 12th.  Wasn't gonna miss a show until they played St Stephen again.  Good show.  Encore first Revolution with Phil stepping the mic for the first time.

Hartford first night: one of the greats, then 10-15.  Not a long pursuit, but a very high returns.

Long Live The Grateful Dead.

^ Phil sang on US Blues Nassau 5/8/81

I was at Hartford too but not MSG. Considering my run was 79 to 95 catching Stephen was an incredible stroke of luck. Westies got fucked on that one.

One of the best things of the post Jerry years was hearing all the songs that we never got to hear.

Phil sang on US Blues Nassau 5/8/81))))

^ 100% true and he also sang on Throwing Stones sharing Bobby's mike at The Boston Gardens and I think Portland Maine too. I think he did that a few shows on the tour.

I always thought that too a big deal was made for that US Blues. Now four later Thom Thumb Blues blew me away.

No doubt. That Scarlet Fire still gives me goose bumps.

Phil also sang on the Cold Rain encore in Santa Fe on 9-11-83.

"Phil also sang on the Cold Rain encore in Santa Fe on 9-11-83." I remember that feeling of Joy rushing through my entire body , "wait man look ... Phil's Fuckin singing... " unfortunately I missed the Garden Breakout, buddy of mine called me from a payphone from inside the garden... I was floored, and crying in gumbjunction Colo..
