Is It Okay To Eat Your Spirit Animal?

Forums:

Do you have a "spirit animal", a particular species other than humans that you feel a particular kinship with?

I'm not really sure what mine would be.  I relate to a lot of our friends in the animal kingdom.  Bears and big cats (Jaguars, Lynxs, Mountain Lions) have always fascinated me.  I also think horses have a mystical quality.

As a kid, my older brothers tagged me with the nickname "Baby Bull".  I was a hotshot basketball player as an eight year old, and they named me after George McGinness, who was starring in the ABA and NBA at that time.  As I grew up, my brothers shortened the nickname to just Bull.  I was a big dude, a little stubborn and obstinate, and sometimes ornery, so I guess the nickname kind of fit.  It was pretty much a nickname limited to my brothers and a couple of close family friends and in-laws.   In high school, my classmates tried to hang the nickname "Big Guy",  or "Big Guy Dave" on me.  I didn't care for those nicknames, and they didn't really stick.  In college, when I was slinging weed, one of my girlfriends and some of my old high school stoner friends started calling me "Captain Sandbags", combining elements of Jerry Garcia's "Captain Trips" nickname, my last name, and the fat sacks I was doling out.  I laughed at that one, but it too did not stick.

The only old nickname I still occasionally hear is "Bull" when my brothers are in a particulary fraternal mood.  I was wondering if maybe the Bull is my spirit animal, and then it hit me that since I'm an omnivore, I still enjoy the occasional steak or hamburger.  It made me feel a little dirty.

i think not

Haha

Racket, you follow some pathetic sob's on your social media!

No comment as to the OP. It's like softcore concern trolling. Thought you were better than that, Java Dave. Not Schmacket-lite. *sad emoji*

And before you get touchy, Java Dave, I'm just saying: you pick some strange (read: shitty; idiotic) hills to die upon.

(tl;dr)

Cheers, anon.

Don't ask me why but lately I been feeling a special kinship towards the muskrat. No I would not eat one.

You live near water and associate yourself with this creature's survival mechanisms, Rasmarataz.

It is understood.

I prefer my spirit animal with garlic and salt

I first learned about spirit animals when I worked at an environmental education center on Bainbridge Island, WA.

After experiencing an exciting stare-down and flyover w/ a huge owl (the owl flew over my head at a very close range, not like I was flying with the owl, except in my dreams, LOL) while hiking the campus trails, one of the faculty told me that the owl is now my spirit animal.

I now count hummingbirds and stags as additional spirit animals because I have similar "connection" stories for those animals too.

None of them sound appetizing, even the venison.

Looks like lasix neglected to take his meds yesterday. So much sad.

Helena Bonham Carter is my spirit animal. I'd eat her in a heartbeat.

^^^^ Well I'm calling end-of-thread with THAT post, LOL.

Mike-DROP, ba ha ha

Two things, LLOLLO. I wish I had though of that, and I am so stealing it. Nice work.

You're welcome -- I think it should be restyled to: MIKE-drop

... and this was without any caffeine this morn, amazing.

Full agreement on the revision. I feel like I'm reborn.

I know, Mike. Self-appointed Jr. Admin. Whatever gets you through the night, my lonely anon.

You're not the first, Ras, and hopefully you won't be the last.

Muskrat, muskrat candlelight
Doin' the town and doin' it right
In the evenin', it's pretty pleasin'

Muskrat Susie, Muskrat Sam
Do the jitterbug
Out in the muskrat land
And they shimmy
Sam is so skinny

And they whirl and they twirl and they tango
Singin' and jinglin' a jango
Floatin' like the heavens above
Looks like muskrat love

Nibblin' on bacon, chewin' on cheese
Sam says to Susie
Honey, would you please be my Mrs?
Suzie she says yes, with her kisses

Now, he's ticklin' her fancy
Rubbin' her ties
Muzzle to muzzle now
Anything goes
As they wiggle
Sue starts to giggle

And they whirl and they twirled and they tango
Singin' and jinglin' a jango
Floatin' like the heavens above
Looks like muskrat love

And they whirl and they twirl and they tango
Singin' and jinglin' a jango
Floatin' like the heavens above
Looks like muskrat love

One should never eat one's spirit animal.  All kinds of dissonance in that recipe, matey.

Mine: Air element - Cooper's Hawk, earth element - Southeastern Coral snake.

Water, ether, and fire have not been revealed.

What?

Be careful of those swooping owls they can cause real damage

Mine is a sloth so there will be no eating.

Funny, my owl was a barred owl too. The naturalists told me it was likely flying to their nest in the bigleaf maple tree behind me to protect it -- they like to nest in maples because those trees are prone to rot and usually have big cavities that make good nests.

It was really cool to feel the breeze from the wingbeats!   I made like a statue.
