New to the surge pricing model: USPS

Forums:

So it looks like rates at the Post Office will be going up, but this time only for the holiday season. Oh, yeah..

Get those Pete Seeger stamps!  Honor a real American hero.

Will the USPS ever get back on track? So important.

did they fire the trump crony yet? if not, why???

The USPS said they were going to do special pricing for the holiday season last year, but didn't. What will happen this year?

And no, Turtle, that guy's still the asshole in charge.

^ I know, right? DeJoy @ USPS is almost as bad as Devos @ Dept of Education. Geez.

fuckin dejoy

him still being in there says so much

They did do it last year.

What is the rationale for not giving DeJoy the boot?

So, will 'forever stamps' not work during the holiday season? Once you buy them, how does the price go up?

Or is this just for packages? USPS sucks for shipping packages anyway. I have tracked packages that I shipped to another part of NY. It went from NY to PA to NJ then finally back to NY.

Now that's how you save money.

The problem is that you used to be able to deliver all of one days mail in a route, now with everyone shopping from home and ordering from amazon, those easy bake oven trucks are full of little packages that wont always fit in your mail box so multiple trips back to the office are necessary.   On top of that, the price of gas is the USPS's biggest expense.

True leadership in the USPS would seek to partner with Ford or other manufacturers that have developed EV vans.

As you can imagine, replacing USPS vehicles is a very long and clunky process. The LLV (Long Life Vehicle) was an aluminum version with better steering radius which came out in the early 90's and was supposed to last 30 years and it did. The last refresh that I am aware of was done/began around 2017 so it'll be a while, although they have been quicker to try new models and regionally test them out in the field. I still see the old WW2 rehashes here in LA so it must also be based on weather/climate taking its toll too. Those buggies rusted to nothing around Chicago by 1995.

I missed it.  Thanks.

The prez cannot remove the PMG.  The postal board does and they like him due to the McConnell Senate blocking Obama appointees.

Remember though, no difference between the parties,  (Sarcasm)

USPS and Amtrak are great examples of why the government shouldn't run your healthcare.

I've got you beat, Jerry H. I recently ordered some seeds from a vendor in San Diego; for reference, I live about 3-4 hours north of SD. According to USPS tracking, I should have had them about a week ago, but last I heard they were in Roanoke, VA.

^hhmmm, just down the road from CIA HQ @ Langley. LOL. Just Kidding.

Shutting down my PO box in another week. Rates keep going up in quantum leaps. To hell with it.

In all seriousness, within the last year I sent a package via USPS from CA to WI that spent an unexplainable week in FL too. Crazy Town.

An appointee.

Natch

We only get mail delivered here about every other day - there aren't enough delivery people.Sometime the desk is closed because the clerk had to deliver.

The forever stamps will still be good "forever". If the price is raised later, temporarily or permanently, that price rise is reflected in new sales of stamps or parcel postage.

Do you think USPS should be privatized?

GOPrz are perpetually irritated that there is a strong union behind the USPS and have been hard at work trying to undermine and dismantle that for a long while now.
