Jay Lane on stage during preview

Koocken on Heaven's Door - lol.

I didn't listen to any Dead & Co until summer of 2021. I have no idea what this band sounded like in the years previous. If they were playing at the level that they are now, then I missed out on some great music.  I thank the wolfman for the recent streams which have had an excellent mix.

The band sounds even better to me than they did last summer and they were pretty hot last summer. This is one tight touring band. Bobby has rebounded in dramatic fashion from some some pretty horrific years in the teens imo. He still flubs lyrically on occasion such as Wharf Rat the other night, but for the much greater part his vocals are sounding quite nice to my ears. I'm personally flabbergasted by this because I basically gave up on Weir around 2014 do to vocals which had become almost unlistenable to me.

I missed the St. Stephen>Eleven last night and I'm really bummed about that because I'm sure they killed it. The Help>Slip>Frank from a couple nights ago was just jaw dropping imo. The tempos wax and wane throughout, but the music is always extremely tight and feels fine to me, never feels mailed in

I find the quality of the postings to archive.org to not be very listenable. A good live stream from the board seems the way to go.  The Phil stream from Telluride through the local radio station was a great mix. Haven't found any quality free Phil streams, but these Dead & Co streams from the Wolfman have been most excellent.

So Billy's got a 'pulled muscle'? I remember Bowie was mis-diagnosed with that in 2004, and it turned out he was having a slow heart attack.

I guess if anyone's going to have a slow heart attack, though, it would be Bobby.

Zing!

That YouTube link is real nice. Thanks.  Will that stay up, hope so.  Still wish they would keep the keys up in the mix; they do at times at least.

With Jay Lane filling in for Billy they have finally picked up the pace see St. Stephen>eleven from this show. Best this band ihas sounded since Mayer joined.

Also well worth checking out the Help>Slip>Frank from the night before at Bethel Woods.  Both shows (the official proshoot) were up on YouTube as of yesterday.  Maybe Jay Lane is somehow a new synergistic force. Anyway they have been playing extremely well currently imo.

Good for D&C and their fans and all these shows and fun times.  I've definitely heard some good jams and some high points here and there but, there are just so many hollow jams throughout most every show, it just lets me down every time I listen. Then don't get me started on Mayer singing a Jerry Meltdown..... erph!  But, it really is so great to see the GD vibe hanging so hard with so many noobs old heads alike!!!.... not to mention to whole smokeshow babe spinner section of dressing up like a hippie in their slick new hippie-wear!!! Good times!
