Decided to start another show thread for the performance

Phil & Phriends, w/ Warren Haynes, John Scofied, John Medeski, and John Molo, with special guest Amy Helm

~8pm ET start

Official Stream;
https://fans.live

As always, you rock Noodler! Thank you.

I'll be watching with Portland friends.

You do rock, Noodler! And hi LLOLLO.

I'm so thankful there's an official stream...   I've been enjoying the free streams of D$C, but been hard to find any for Phil.  I did pay for the Mickey - D$C show, glad I did, lots of fun music.

But Medeski is one of my Fave keyboardists on the planet right now, he's capable of so many different things.  I'm really hoping for lots of space jams with this bunch, but who knows, either way, very much worth the price of admission!!!

Long live the Phil

Showtime.

Hey, Rob. Good to see you.

Hi Mike And ALL ! yessmiley

Set 1
Althea

hey Judit!

glad you're here.

I think almost $30 for a stream is getting pretty steep (by about $10 at least), but whatever, I custied up and looking to enjoy this beautiful summer evening!

It will go up to $35 probably by next year, all because of custies like me. :(

Hey ALL it is 2/3rd Q _____________________nice.

Phils just killing the vocals on Half Step, has he been getting coached?

Phil's vocals are sounding like a real natural fit tonight too. Right in his range.

Set 1
Althea
Mississippi Half Step
She Said

Vocals much stronger than last month at the Frost.

This is just a powerhouse line-up all the way around. I'm really psyched for the folks who made it to the show.

Some sweet harmonies from Amy and Warren on BMR.

This Sugaree is pretty hot for unplanned, and presumably unrehearsed.

Sco mvp so far. Cool shirt too.

If Sco is MVP, it's not by much. He has some real competition up there.

And Sco's shirt is cool, but Molo's butterflies are much cooler, IMO.

> I think almost $30 for a stream is getting pretty steep

Agreed, Jack. When TXR first opened 10 years ago, their streams were like $6-7. I miss those days.

Midnight Hour (2 minutes before curfew)

Nothing left to do but smile smile smile

Great Time!!!

Well, THAT was a fun shoe!  Grate players, grate setlist, grate people.

It seemed that Warren & Phil went out of their way tonite to set up Scofield, and it worked well.

Some on stage rehearsal with Amy Helm for the Bethel show with Levon's band. These musicians can rehearse in front of me any day of the week.

That final run of songs - from UBC to Franklins > everyone in the house knew that Franklins was coming after Help is, but this band stretched it out and made Slip Knot a whole new transition.

2 minute Midnight Hour? Nice surprise to end the night

Lot of overlap with the D&C setlist at Bethel Woods tonight.

Jeez and I thought I was bad at math /:

~~~~~(:
What
A
Time!!!!!!
And that is to say: beyond that fanfuckentabulous barn burning sweet gentle facefuckfest, the venue was gorj and it was an old school hardcore Phil crowd for the most part
Stunning and lovely experience from A~Z
Ras! As in M'Tazz, not malai, as I've been saying all this time. I flippen adore you even more in 3D omg!!!
Hope you and your lovely had the bestest power and glory kinda time and made it home safe! And did I hear you correctly that I popped your zoner 3D cherry??
Also: Stagger615, for any who know him, was a major highlight to see.
Music was stellar moon in Leo had Warren ROARING musically and vocally
(((((noodler!)))))
((((((Us!)))))))
((((((Viva)))))))
((((((ZONERS)))))))
Loved seeing everyone else I ran into
Oh and that soundcheck!!!!!!!
>>>>moon in Leo had Warren ROARING<<<<
We could put together a PLF-themed show at the planetarium!
So Good to see so many old faces!!!!  And new ones to., Sigmund Great to met you...  Love the new Venue...
"The Wizard" John Medeski.
Indeed.
Over here in the southern part of the stage we have the summertime constellation Mt. St. Molo...
Is it just me, or does Phil's bass get louder in the mix on either side of a new moon?
>>>>>>Sco mvp so far. Cool shirt too
When I started streaming I didn't know the lineup.  Something sounded off.  Sure enough it was Scofield.  Weak link in every Phil lineup he's ever been in.
Phils just killing the vocals on Half Step, has he been getting coached?
I think it's the key change.
Anybody else have trouble with the stream quality?  I have done a few FANS streams and it keeps intermittently logging off, then you hav to log back on and sometimes, it skips ahead or behind the actual live stream and the music doesn't always sync to the video.  Its not a latency issue on my stream or network.  Pain in the ass and isn't happening on any other streaming channels for me so just curious.
I was hoping to see you there
Phil just ages so well even his vocals are better than ever
My stream was rock solid last night, Greasy. I don't think it buffered once.
Just this minute sprang for the stream. Got a bottle of red and three strains to roll that later.
Going was a maybe thing until Lily got Covid (she's emerging now, but it was a shitty two weeks).  Asbury not entirely out of the question.
Only tix I'm holding I got for Lily (Elton on 7/24, and Ibeye in October).
I'll probably try to hit a Cap Phil show if September and October don't wipe me out.  Taking off a week in Sept when Da Boy and his boo come east.  Road-trip wedding (Sis' kid) in Oct.
************
As for stream quality, I've experienced buffer issues but never been disconnected.
Sweet show. Great crowd. A perfect venue for this band.
First set took a little bit to get going, particularly Scofield.
In the second set Low Spark through Slipknot was a sublime stretch. Locked in. Wish there was another one tonight.
Hell of a show, to match the weather, to match the crowd.  Warren SG roaring and Scofield Tele searing. What a presence JS made with that blue paisley shirt and similar colored telecaster. The best I've ever heard from him.
Best Unbroken Chain I can remember seeing, again Warren was Warren but Scofield was on fire.
Just another best night ever.
Me + my Jill love ya jlp, thanks for making the effort and making the event that much more fun,, till the next one !
Another show with both She Said She Said and St. Stephen?
WTF?
Might as well play one of them twice. Now l'd rather I hadn't peeked under the tree.
(Sorry. Long-standing minor pet peeve.   But I know some of you hear me on this.)
Warren,
Retire Low Spark.
Sincerely,
The Management
Soundcheck Galute???
Now we got some zonin' going on.
Best night ever.
Too much the same thing.
Scofield on fire.
Scofield weak link.
Funny how we can all hear the same thing so differently.
Far out.
Carry on, and.........
LONG LIVE PHIL LESH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LONG LIVE THE GRATEFUL DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
< hear the same things differently.
1st of all the only way to hear a show is by being there, not thru any streams. A show needs to be felt as well as heard.
And there's many factors that go into the making of said show - the weather, the crowd vibe, the high you choose, security, the sound etc etc
We  got there at 6 and commenced to lot rat, that's where I'm most comfortable for pregames anyway. Then walked in to our seats which were floor but too far left, lousy sound (you nailed that one cumberlyn), so we ventured to the back of the floor dead center,  tremendous sound and great neighbors, all nicely manored, we pretty much played human dancing pinball off each other all show, it was wonderful. A mere 20 second walk for refills. Everything was just exactly perfect.
Thanks Phil
Oh, and anyone who doesn't think Scofield rose to the occasion either had a subpar listening device or is just one deaf mutherfucker.
The sound in the front pit was great!! , It was not so good to the sides, but the sound system did not wrap out to the sides.  They started out a little shakey and seriously progressed to get Better, Scofield, Got his digs and went for it, Seemed Warren took him to task on some leads,  The communication between them was better then other shows that I have seen them play together, And hey , It was all unrehearsed except for the 3 songs sound checked, I  left happy and rejuvenated...
I have some great Pics but it wont let me upload...
Top notch evening all the way round.
I even had time to go home at the break and finish this engine overhaul I've been working on.
GD that was a long halftime, but that 2nd set so worth it. Face left body spine realignment jams.
Coyotte, if you want to email me pics, I'll get them posted. Email in profile.
BTW, stream-wise: no buffering; some brief, slight sync issues, which I think I saw corrected in real time (and which looked like what I imagine a minor stroke feels like).
I'm not a big fan of the FX these streaming outfits seem to think are necessary, especially the four-way mirror-split thing most people associate with a Prince video.  But there was a point where they took just Molo's head and put it in the middle of a bunch of other stuff.  I L'd MAO big time.laugh  I can't not smile thinking about it now.
> some brief, slight sync issues
I thought that was just me. There was a close-up of Warren singing where the sync was off at one point, but it was just barely perceptible.
> I'm not a big fan of the FX
Some of it was pretty cool, but a lot of it was annoying. I liked the way they incorporated footage from the GD movie. The deconstructed animation of the orbs and the foothill toes tapping was pretty cool, and at one point, there was a close-up shot of Phil from the movie (from the scene where he notices his bass was somehow feeding back from the camera) overlaid with a live shot of him playing. I don't know if that was planned, or a happy accident, but it was really quite striking.
Also, when the four-way mirror-split thing focused on a buxom young lady dancing in the second set, I'll admit that I was mesmerized.
I wasn't sure if she was live or stock footage.
rewatching show now on fans.live while putting some work in for the stupid job that supports my music habit...
several video segments have surfaced on YouTube -- just none w/ both sets.
Phil was melting faces + Amy was melting hearts.
If that Atlantic City didn't get ya, by the time Black Muddy River ended you were just a big pile of smooosch.
Lance you are soooooo on the money!!!
My sound wasn't the best ever but my space and neighbors were, which, as Ras said, an aspect of the experience that counts for so much
Really the whole vibe was chill and happy: it was a true Phil crowd which always makes for a sweet circuit between Us and our FearlessLeader
And holy shit Warren *did* have an SG?! whenever I saw that I figured I was seeing Phil's bass at some weird angle lol
Also: pix on the way, Dearest Mike!
> I wasn't sure if she was live or stock footage.
I wondered if she might have been from the GD movie too. Either way, she held my attention.
Also also:
(((((All the Phinest Jills)))))
Thank god this band had John Medeski onstage with them.
Thank someone for something lololol
Am I right to recall you being formerly non dickish so constantly, or have I confused you for another broken record?
I'm just listening to this now.  Other than Amy throwing me off on BMR with her vocal timings (Warren kept trying to get her on board mid stream which was pretty funny) I give it two thumbs up.  John Scofied and John Medeski are the secret sauce in this lineup.  Happy ears!
