So I hear Bill was out again except for Drumz.  

Damn, Billy. We’re missing you on the drums, dude. Hope you can make a comeback here, maybe before the tour is over? I mean, if you can’t you can’t, but damn. 

This is the kind of thing that fuels the farewell rumors. It certainly doesn’t help. 

Band instagram said Billy came out at Drums and played the rest of the show. Still not good though 

Does Jay get paid to just 'be there' when Billy is actually playing? Does he get more when he does have to play? Does it come out of Billy's pocket? Curious...

I imagine they have Jay Lane on retainer.  Wasn't the decision for Bob and Phil to form Furthur fueled in part to keep the Rhythm Devils from getting their half share of the loot?  I know Jill Lesh is obviously not calling the shots here, but you still have to wonder what is going on behind the scenes when $$$ is at issue.

I would think so, and maybe a bonus for stage time.

I dunno. I am glad Jay is there as a great friend to the band doing a great job as needed and, again, I do really feel for Billy and hope he's OK. As long as we are speculating and have no idea what is true and real, maybe Jill is jealous these guys are raking it and is whipping Phil on down the road this summer to jack him to limit of his revenues.

I think StrawBud is stretching his imagination a bit far.

There's plenty for everybody, I don't think anyone is jealous of anyone.

It's amazing that it's all still as raging as it is, and I think it's very likely that the originals involved are all having a seriously great time playing the music to the many, many fans who are out there, and who are still coming, and coming, and coming.

Phil, Bob, Billy & Mickey are all getting seriously on in years, so at this point I think they're probably saying, along with me, and all of us.......

One great thing about DeadCo is that it helps to keep some of the reprobates away from Phil shows. To this end, I hope they keep touring.

Of course I was stretching my imagination a little for some kicks and entertainment that this site may sometimes help provide alongside some of the other more serious and thoughtful conversation. I did say *maybe* for a buffer but I did not say 'maybe not' and probably should have I suppose. I have read on this board more than a few times people worshipping Phil as a/our "God" but isnt that sorta whacky and the same shit that did more so isolate and possibly help kill Jerry? I love all of those guys and am happy to see them still doing what they do as they most definitely are seriously getting on in years. One GREAT thing to see more of more recently is Phil playing with his son!! Getting back to basics and full reality, one of my favorite quotes from Garcia was, "Fuck 'em if they cant take a joke." Sorry for the novel. At least it's mostly non-fiction. Maybe. Maybe Not.
