Debate CONTINUES - Democrats Oppose Attorney General Nominee Jeff Sessions

This thread has been "rebuked".

ACTION--Send Mitch McConnell the excerpt of the 9 page Corey's Scott King letter opposing Sessions’s 1986 nomination that Sen Warren tried to read, but was rebuked and silenced by Mitch McConnell.

1) Fax it 2) Read it into his voicemail. 3) Mail it. Sign it in your name, Mrs, King's or Sen Warren's.

"Anyone who has used the power of his office as United States Attorney to intimidate and chill the free exercise of the ballot by citizens should not be elevated to our courts. Mr. Sessions has used the awesome powers of his office in a shabby attempt to intimidate and frighten elderly black voters. For this reprehensible conduct, he should not be rewarded with a federal judgeship.”

Republicans trying to make the Senate a safe space. Maybe they can let her speak as long she gives a trigger warning ahead of time so the Republicans can be protected from any criticism.

Anyone catch Orrin Hatch 'digging for gold' while McConnell was delivering his smack down?

Thought he was gonna eat his booger after checking it out.

resistance is futile

Turtleboy hung up on me.

At least Warren's speech was recorded for history.

I recommend watching it, if you have the time:

So she got shut down for criticizing someone being vetted for office?

I agree, Floops. I like the concept of decorum when debating issues amongst fellow senators. But, if a fellow senator is up for a vote for a nominated post it changes that context drastically.

Bernie Sanders read the Coretta Scott King letter as did Jeff Merkley so far...seems like the GOP don't understand the concept of blow back.

Decorum is wonderful, Ned. And Warren was polite, if firm in her convictions, the entire time.

And the right call the left snowflakes. What hypocrites.

'zactly.

Hi Dise!

sup

It's getting pretty hard to pay attention to what's going on.  On some days, it makes me wish death on half of this country.

I believe this might be by design.

>>I believe this might be by design.

Agreed.

The tweets and mayhem are all a smoke-screen to pass other legislation that will fuck us sideways.

"Taking things way too seriously has never been cool."

I never said it was cool Ender--it ain't.

And I'll never not want to know what's going on (excuse the double negative).  But on some days, it fills me with too much hate.

Agreed.

Yeah, there seems to be a smoke-screen at work ... I would suspect it's Bannon & Co. who will be riding the wave behind the scenes of confusion / chaos that Trump will continue to evoke - simply by the nature of his personality.  While bad legislation is nothing to overlook, I hope it's nothing more sinister.

Yep.  In the end, does it really matter if Trump blatantly lies about the size of his crowds or his hands or whether his people make up non-existent historical events?    Makes good fodder for late night comics and meme generators, but it all serves as a big distraction from his gutting of environmental and consumer protections and basic civil liberties.

All of it is not a distraction. It builds a brick by brick case for a mentally ill President with no moral compass. It permanently destroys the Republican brand who have gotten in bed with Trump with all the lights on.

We will at least never again have to give Republicans the benefit of the doubt that they have sincere convictions about anything. We now know the Republicans will whore themselves out to anyone for power.

"the resistance" loses another one

Yes, and Hillman and Fafa win again!

huge loss for civil rights too.

Warren is far from defeated.

true, but the GOP won this round with Sessions getting approved.

Yay for bigots in America!

relax, "the resistance" still has battles ahead & the overall "war" to wage.

i haven't won anything, just enjoying watching your silly hyperbolic rhetoric & exaggerated sense of self-righteousness flailing around. i didn't vote for trump or hillary. that spot was left blank.

is that damn chair against the wall?

Certainly, this is not a surprise.

Looking back on this years from now may provide some consolation.

Heh, heh, heh.

Years from now? Trump has the nuclear codes..

I want Negman's opinion on this one. And Jug's.

Come on out, gentlemen.

Your five minutes are up.
