New Weir Interview in USA Today

If you love Bob & The Sweetwater and have (more than) a few extra bucks, he's playing a couple of benefit shows there at the end of this month.

No spot taken, but the tix will sell and they'll raise some good dough for a couple of local friends of theirs, and that's not a bad thing.

"Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros are hosting two special benefits at Sweetwater Music Hall on February 27th and 28th. General admission tickets will be available to purchase for both shows at $250 (plus fees) each EXCLUSIVELY through our digital ticket lottery. Winners will be contacted by Tuesday, February 21 with purchasing instructions and will have 24 hours to claim their tickets. Entries for the digital lottery will be accepted up until noon PST on 2/18.

Limited to two tickets total. All tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable after purchase. Proof of full Covid-19 vaccination and masks required for event entry.

And then there's this one:

Bob Weir’s long, strange dream

At 74, he keeps riffing on the Grateful Dead’s legacy with the Wolf Bros, which can grow from trio to orchestra. And Jerry’s still trying to teach him a tune.

And today, there's an interview in the Cleveland Plain Dealer:

And Jerry’s still trying to teach him a tune.<<

I have video of a soundcheck where Jerry is trying to re-teach (I assume. Pretty sure it's '76, so Blues for Allah was already out) some harmony (the bridge, I think) on Crazy Fingers to Bob and Donna.

Repeatedly. They just can't get it. At one point, Jerry's shoulders just slump and you can see his will to live leave his body briefly.  Like a full body sigh of resignation.  Funny/sad.

from that Cleveland Plain Dealer link:

"Weir has also had a stage musical about baseball Negro League icon Satchel Paige in long development"

long development, indeed...
