Bumping cool thread ideas makes me smile.

Cooking meals for fam and friends, smoking weed and listening to WWOZ, getting to the end of interminable conference calls and afternoon naps with my dog...

Last week I found $50 inside of a Loggins & Messina record I paid about 17 cents for.  That made me smile.  Best Loggins & Messina record ever!

Do you ever find seeds and stems in the records that fold, Dave?

Fridays, for sure.

Do you ever find seeds and stems in the records that fold<<<<

All the time, Mike, especially gatefold covers from 1969-1974 releases.

I've curated a small collection of strange things I've found inside record jackets, from stoned ramblings and doodles to notes to loved ones and weed dealers.

To answer the record album question:  In the late '80s in Capitola (near Santa Cruz), Blue Rhythm Records, I bought a copy of Electric Ladyland, which came with a pressed, dried marijuana leaf fan, bigger than my hand.  The record itself makes me smile, too.

More general makes me smile:  an up-tempo jammed out Cumberland, shared with a group of energetic, interactive dancers.

In San Pedro La Laguna, Guatemala one time I found a chunk of hash under my pillow in my hotel. I shit you not. And I didn"t even lose a tooth!laugh

Another time in the same place I found about a 1/4 ounce of weed under my mattress in my hotel.

Saw a ' Veterans Against Trump ' bumper sticker today on a pickup truck driven by an old salt Nam era cat.

Gave me a big smile, he smiled back.

Papaver somniferum.....a little patch each year....fresh is best ;-)

> Papaver somniferum

I've had the hardest time getting those to germinate, and when they do, they don't go very far.

Here you go , mike. The seeds like a cold period (cold stratification), so that can be done outside at the proper time (fall most likely where you're at and me, too, and let the seeds go through the cold of winter).  Indoor, moisten some sand, mix with seeds in a small ziplock bag, seal the bag and place in frig for a month or more and sow outside in late winter/early spring.

HOW TO GROW PAPAVER SOMNIFERUM

SOWING INSTRUCTIONS:

Depth: Surface sow; requires light to germinate
Sprout Time: 5-20 days
Starting Indoors: Sow in pots 6-8 weeks before last frost, cover lightly with vermiculite or a humidity dome and keep at 65-70°F until germination, then at 50-60°F. Be very gentle when transplanting, as poppies do not like to be disturbed.
Starting Outdoors: Recommended. Direct sow 4 weeks before last spring frost or in late autumn (Autumn only in zones 8+). Mix seed with fine sand to scatter thinly over prepared soil to avoid overcrowding.
When to Set Outside: At last spring frost date.

PLACEMENT & CULTIVATION

The symbol of sleep and death, but also of fertility, opium poppies have been with us since antiquity. They self-sow to bloom each year with flamboyant blooms and sea green jagged foliage. An essential cottage garden flower, it requires fertile, sandy soils and an early start. Bees of all kinds will seek them out, often jostling each other in competition for the golden pollen. Site in vegetable gardens to attract pollinators, harvest its edible seeds or pick the seed pods on long stems for dried flower bouquets.
Final Spacing: 1'
Water Use: Medium Water Use
Watering Details: These plants prefer evenly moist soil, but can tolerate drought. About an inch of water per week.
Soil pH: Slightly acidic to neutral—if soil is acidic, add some lime before planting.
Fertilizer: Mix in 2" inches of compost prior to planting.
Diseases & Pests: Fungal diseases can be prevented by regularly spraying with organic fungicides and spacing at least 1' apart for good air circulation. If slugs and snails damage seedlings, sprinkle the surrounding soil with pelletized iron phosphate, crushed eggshells, or diatomaceous earth.
When to Cut: Decorative dried seed pods.

Even without being a Randy I would like to go there. I'd smile for sure. That's a place I'd love to be.

Looks pretty cool, but I was kind of expecting a different kind of randy.

YIKES

Like Randy's this place in Honduras' Utila Island is a fantasy world of art created by a college professor from Cali.

The food was excellent when I was there 21 years ago.

If I'm ever in Honduras I'll have to go, looks interesting!

Here's a good video in Spanish that gives a good idea of Jade Seahorse. Utila is or was the cheapest island in the Caribbean. I paid $6.50 a day for a small house with kitchen and frig 21 years ago. It is the cheapest place in the world to scuba dive and get your PADI license.

Here's a funny video about the place. It wasn't this crazy when I was there.

Reading the Zone after my husband, Leper Van Atom, passed away on February 19. It's like I'm talking to him. Also weed, fresh coffee and a 40 minute version of Eyes of the World.

Seeing all.these show threads lately.

Phil fucking Lesh makes me smile.

Proper trolling

(JR, see Red Rooster thread)

JR listens to Vivaldi while trying to relive his trolling hay day of 20 years ago. The fine gentleman has grown into refined tastes.

I hear that JR has moved on from Vivaldi to Schoenberg's atonal music. Edgy.

I hope he has Gucci house slippers. That is the definition of refined.

So my Wicked Good slippers from LL Bean aren't refined? Oh, well. At least they make me smile.

Although your Wicked Good slippers are timeless classics, they don't have the refinery of Gucci.
