RIP Howard Hesseman (Dr Johnny Fever @ WKRP in Cincinnati)

Bummer...R.I.P. to Dr. Johnny Fever, now here's Les Nessman...

RIP

Remember his performance in Billy Jack. Maybe his first big notice. Love that movie!

And of course the best studio clip of all....

And of course covering the riverfront tragedy was the heaviest thing I ever saw at that age

I saw the Who at their last show of that tour at the Cap Centre in Md. I remember them being tired and not too inspired considering.

"BOOGER!!!!!"

Fun fact: Hesserman and the Grateful Dead both appeared in the movie Petulia (1968). Hesserman played a hippie.

Sad news.

I suppose most of us of a certain age loved that show & his character.

Very funny guy. Played very cool offbeat characters that always made the connection. Liked him a lot.

RIP Dr

There is also a classic B&W pic of 1970 Hesseman in scene-ster/ photographer Lisa Law's phot-essay book, "Flashing on the 60s." I don't see it online so I'll maybe take a pic.

The movie Dr. Detroit, where he plays a pimp with money troubles, which was panned when it was released, is a very underrated 80's comedy.

"Here's some more good news from an always reliable source. It's the Grateful Dead."

From the theme song,

Remember me once in a while,,,

RIP

Among other things that shouldn't be forgotten, he was a member of the improv group The Committee (might be covered in one of the links posted earlier) and always spoke out for justice and equality. He was a good man.

I know not about Howard but a great interview by Tom Laughlin and Delores Taylor from Billy Jack
