Waiting for phil’s bday run announcement

Forums:

Pretty sizable gap in the Cap's March schedule.. I kinda figured we would've had the announcement by now, perhaps a Monday drop?

COVID is rearing it's ugly head again.

At his age and with his history Phil is in the VERY susceptible danger zone if it catches him.

I would be shocked if he plays shows in March.

hope he plays, but it'll be hard to get the time off this time

Where's the new clubhouse going to be?

I wasn't expecting a birthday run tihs year due to COVID. Definitely no new clubhouse, TXR was a dream we all dreamed one afternoon long ago.

Midnight North is touring before / after Phil's Bday

Ah Druba, that's not good haha. Does seem to align with the big gap in the Cap's schedule. I guess all the signs are pointing towards a run, it's a matter of whether our captain wants to lead us.

I had also heard rumblings about a smaller new clubhouse.. but the clock is ticking as we all know

About all one can do is wait for Omicron to settle down, and hope it doesn't mutate due to is huge success in reproducing in unvaxxed Republinutjobs.....

The Midnight North  tour on the east coast ends March 6, 9 darts before Phil's birthday.

I suppose Graham would want to be there for his pa's birthday, whether there is a run nearby.... or not.

At home in Ross between legs of the tour.

Oteil & Friends Reschedule Capitol Theatre Run for March

Oteil Burbridge shared via social media that Oteil & Friends dates for The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, N.Y. have been rescheduled to March 11 and 12, from Feb. 11 and 12.

Longtime member of the Trey Anastasio Band, James Casey (saxophone/vocals), will return to the stage after undergoing treatment for colon cancer. Additionally, Eric Krasno (guitar), Jason Crosby (multi-instrumentalist), Jennifer Hartswick (trumpet/vocals), Natalie Cressman (trombone/vocals), Tom Guarna (guitar) and Pete Lavezzoli (percussion) will join the band for the two-night stand.

Saw that earlier today, this no Phil shows back east. I suppose he could play locally but COVID will likely keep an 82 year old man at home.

Glad O&F pushed the dates.  Glad I'm still in for a Saturday.  Cautiously optimistic.

So Phil Plays 13,14,15.  Wide open.  Sells out anyway.

I'm hopeful Omnicron may simmer by March but I guess maybe they just wouldn't even want to risk the possibility of cancelling.

I guess the wait is on for July and Levitate fest in Mass.

Since Omicron hasn't peaked yet, I could see Phil doing a private soirée at his home, have it catered, lots of music, and in slippers the whole time (or does he wear those Jesus shoes like Bobby?)

Mostly vegetarian with some smoked salmon (or would Phil beef it up a bit?)

Perhaps a stream for the Phans for a bit, like they've done before...   What will Phil do???

Grate pic There Noodler

>>>Since Omicron hasn't peaked yet,

That is true in most of the country but not in the northeast.  Trends are positive with downshifts in NY, NJ, RI, CT, MA, and ME to name a few. FL, KY, MO, and GA are also trending down. Wastewater testing reports show covid is down 40% in some areas ( this is a more accurate way of testing).  In other countries, Omicron has been shown to have a sharp rise and an equally sharp decline so there may be light at the end of the tunnel.

In general, I'm encouraged although the rest of the country has a long way to go and it's going to be a rough few more weeks.   Death numbers are up (as expected) despite showing significant decreases in the top two age groups.   The growth is really in the three lowest age groups, likely related to vaccination rates.  The old people got vaxed.

The Phil Lesh Run For The Roses 10k has a nice ring to it.

So long as it does not interfere with my phish shoes

Not feeling too confident at this point sad

March 13,14,15 still open at cap.  Let's go Phil!!!

Phil's birthday is March 15th and he will be 82 this year

^ there's a birthday announcement! smiley

DaBreeze.. was such a treat catching the Walrus cover last night of the Q in October. Figured between She Said and then Lucy in the Sky that it was probably off the table but then sure enough, goo goo goo joo

looks like Phil was gonna be cookin breakfast, dont tell Jill

Dear Phil,

Unless you're still under contract to Shappy, please think of your west coast fans this year.

Why not celebrate your birthday with a stellar Meyer Sound system at the UC Theatre in Berkeley?

https://theuctheatre.org/

Capacity = 1400

As much as I adore  seeing you at The CAP, it might be safer for you to stay and play in California.

oxo, llollo

Bumpidy Bump...tik tock...tic tock.

Maybe Phil and Shapiro are waiting to see if the Billy Strings run is a new variant super-spreader event.

I think there's a better chance of a W Coast thing.  Even if it's under a tent.

Sadly I don't know that waiting for the fallout of Billy would give them enough time to swing it. .. probably would be like a week or 10 days away to really hear much about it. I guess they could announce a 1-off on 3-15 but seems unlikely.

I guess I'll monitor whether he plays with midnight north and if so, maybe try to hit their Fairfield or NYC show.

If Phil was to play for his birthday it's high time he brought it back home. That said, I doubt he plays but hope springs eternal....

Look what I found by reading the comments on The Cap's Instagram....bad news and good news....

Is Beach Park still available to rent? I'd be tempted by an outdoor show.

^^^ brilliant idea!

was also wondering about the newly renovated Guild Theater in Menlo Park, but I think the capacity is under 1000 bodies.

my bet is that Phil will play the CAP on Memorial Day weekend, as he's done that in past years.... or better yet, earlier in May on my birthday. ;)

The Guild holds 500 at most. But not out of the question - been hearing some buzz about some big names being announced soon that will be artist charity fundraisers. So expect pricey tix.
And March 15th and other dates around that time are open. Considering the GM used to run the Cap it seems like a good guess that Phil will be celebrating his bday there.
