Phish NYE postponed

Forums:

So I hear that Phish is postponing the 4 December dates ending on NYE to April. Announcement coming soon if not already out.....

A good move. Omicron is spreading like wildfire in NYC.

They may cancel the NYE Times Square event.

It's not just NY.  It's exploding in the south.  Test appointments are 7 days out or a three-hour wait.  I'd hate to think about how many cases aren't be recognized because it's impossible to get a test.

Omicron just passed Delta with cases and I'd be shocked if it didn't pass the original peak in the US.    Happy 2021!!  Bring on 2022

Curveball strike 2

April 20-23, hopefully that sticks.....

In other news South African surge is over.

Sweet!  Stay here and schralph the pow now, gig down to the Boys in April.  First show of the run.... 4/20!!

Sounds like from the official announcement that the Phish were also worried about the financial and logistical issues of having to shut everything down mid-run if somebody in the crew tested positive.

^ like all the scientific info before the summer tour opener in Arkansas?

It seems that at the moment things are starting to fall back to 2020 ultra-conservative shutdown levels again, but this time it does look like there is light at the end of this tunnel.

I'm no expert on the statistics, but from what I see from the cheap seats, how the vaccinated respond to Delta and from the early signs with the newest variant, unless you're 60+ with emphysema or something as bad, if one is fully vaccinated it seems that most don't get dangerously sick, you get sick like a cold or minor flu. Am I wrong about that?

If I'm not wrong and the statistics continue to show that trend through the next two or three months I can see things opening up quickly again, with a serious focus on provable vaccination in public, and we then move on to a new normal, with perhaps all of us dealing with more common versions of the "wookie flu", but only the old & more health compromised and the seriously stubborn/dolts who choose to be unvaccinated will truly suffer.

And we will continue on into a very imperfect 21st century.

Just like all the other ones.

Skull and Roses will probably be canceled soon as I predicted. It ain't over folks.

>>>I can see things opening up quickly again,

Depends on your location and how you define quickly.   I'd anticipate a good two to three months per location but I'm hopeful that by summer we will be like last year and be able to get back out, even if for a second.  Omicron has proven it don't give a shit, like the honey badger:

Daily average:  December 14th 118k, December 23: 186k

New Cases on December 14th 116k, December 23: 265k

9 days and the cases have more than doubled.  One expert said he expected the daily cases to go over a million. That may be too much but at this rate, we will find out very soon.

Be safe...

I blame fishman for the NYE postponement.

Actually, there is a correlation if you follow the numbers regularly.   1300 people are dying a day from covid despite all the progress.   Let's check that number in 2-3 weeks as when the rates jump, it usually takes that long to see the impact in deaths.

Strain on health care?  Talk to my sister-in-law.  They are completely overburdened by this shit.  FYI: they give priority service to those who are vaccinated and don't sass them about alternative treatments.

nice edit.

i edited to avoid the arguments on Christmas Eve.
Omicron has been around longer than 2-3 weeks just look at other places in the world.

if the healthcare system is over burden where you live, maybe there should be investments into labor and infrastructure.

A virus with animal reservoirs is not going away no matter how many times you're boosted.

I still blame fishman.

Just 2 weeks to flatten the curve people.

 Lulz.

Too much of our "healthcare" system has been sold off to private equity vultures to make the proper "investments into labor and infrastructure".
