Rachel Maddow/Van Jones

Forums:

Are the best.

Is there a better news show out there?  Van Jones has made me cry a couple times.

I've learned more about politics, geo-politics and how the engine of Washington functions than any college course (I went to a good one) i took.

My only gripe with her is that black outfit she wears every show....always found it strange but whatever.

Van could use some new suits and ties.  Kind of a early 200's look. He can do better.

This thread can also make fun of Chris Wallace's mouth, Don Lemon's makeup, Anderson Cooper's stick up his ass personality or what you think about Megyn Kelly going to the Today show. Not a fan of Brian Williams after his made up stories. Nice to see Dan Rather spitting some truth and Chuck Todd is a pussy. You may have noticed I didn't mention Chris Hayes?  That's because it's Chris Hayes..

We all spend way too much time with these people (it's okay to admit it here) so let gets to know them better.

O'Donnell really cuts through the shit-- doesn't hold back.

I'm sure Trumpo has him on a hit list.

Lou Dobbs for the win.

fun facts:

rachel is 5'11" and has been with her partner Rachel Mikula since 1999.

I miss Andrea Tantaros on Outnumbered.

What a schnozzola on that girl.

Lawrence O'Donnell has been solid.

I like Rachel, although I think she could put out the same content in 30 minutes. Her build up in the first segment sometimes has so much fluff it borders on superfluous.

Vance is too hyperbolic for my taste. I like it direct and factually based.

Chris Matthews is my favorite on the MSNBCs, with Chris Hayes a close second. I just love to watch Mathews dissect someone when they're uncontrollably spinning.

Paris Dennard (black trump ass licker on cnn) looks like he was born with a developmental disability.

Can someone post a pic of him please?  Hosting a thread with so much potential is mentally tiring.  thanks

Chris Matthews spits more than weir ever did

I'd hate to be across the table from him

Bakari Sellers has smarts.

"Okay, Facebook. For the sake of my mental health and my family I say adieu to yu and yu and yu. I will, for the month of February, get my news the old fashioned way. I will stay active and attend City Council meetings and work my ass off to make sure our children have a healthy and beautiful country to inherit. I love this place so damn much. I know we are good and I know we are kind and I know we are so much better than this. But I also believe we will be okay. I believe we will come through this with more awareness of each of our civic responsibilities. I'm certainly learning so much right now. Please keep me updated via text and email and phone calls. I'm in solidarity with each of you."

are her and that other guy twins?

Yes, hounder, they're twins.

I haven't watched a 24 hr news channel in years so I appreciate everyone's opinions on these people. Maybe one of you will persuade me to watch again, no pressure though. Chris Matthews was always entertaining for his spittle.

double derp, haven't posted in a bit...

Van Jones became a revolutionary communist during the 1992 L.A./Rodney King Riots (58 dead)

By the late 1990s, Jones was a committed Marxist-Leninist-Maoist who viewed police officers as the arch-enemies of black people, and who loathed capitalism for allegedly exploiting nonwhite minorities worldwide. He became a leading member of Standing Together to Organize a Revolutionary Movement (STORM), a now-defunct Bay Area Marxist-Maoist collective that was staffed by members of various local nonprofits, a number of whom had ties to the Ella Baker Center.

Van Jones had been President Obama’s “Green Jobs Czar” until he was forced to resign in September of 2009 due to controversies over his past activism. In 2004, Jones signed a petition from the group 911Truth.org that questioned whether Bush administration officials “may indeed have deliberately allowed 9/11 to happen, perhaps as a pretext for war.” Another part of the controversy was that Jones had used a crude term to describe Republicans in a speech he gave before joining the Obama administration.

It wasn’t his expertise in political science, political history, electoral trends or journalism that got him the job. It was his social justice resume. He rose to public prominence as a race-baiting agitator at the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights in Oakland, funded by the George Soros-supported Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, the liberal Ford Foundation and the Rockefeller Foundation. He became a public fixture in the Bay Area after crusading to free convicted cop-killer Mumia Abu-Jamal for a Marxist organization and lambasting moderate civil rights leaders for objecting to politicizing the classrooms.

he financed, produced and participated in cop-killer Mumia Abu-Jamal’s rap album, which railed against “imperialist” America and white “mother——s” as the “true terrorists.”

This is CNN: Enabling a lifelong, extremist demagogue — who has actively stifled and smeared conservatives, law enforcement and honorable public servants — to pose as a reasonable news personality Van-splainin’ the world.

This goes beyond the sin of “fake news.” It’s gross media malpractice of the highest order.

Van Jones is a CNN political commentator, regularly appearing across the network's programming and special political coverage.

In 2014, Jones launched two brand new initiatives. #cut50 is a bipartisan communications campaign to cut the prison population in half in 10 years -- by forging unlikely alliances, popularizing alternatives to incarceration, and turning the moral and economic catastrophe of mass incarceration into a mainstream, voting issue. #YesWeCode, a national initiative of DreamCorps Unlimited, aims to train 100,000 low-opportunity youth to become high-level computer programmers.

Jones has founded and led four other not-for-profit organizations engaged in social and environmental justice including, Rebuild the Dream, that promotes innovative policy solutions for the U.S. economy; the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights that focuses on economic empowerment and skills training in California; Color of Change, that offers training and guidance on issues related to racial equality and fairness on behalf of communities of color; and Green for All, dedicated to jobs training in the green sector with the goal to help lift people out of poverty. Jones is also a senior fellow with the Center for American Progress and focuses on policy matters related to green jobs and how cities are implementing job-creating climate solutions.

Jones is a Yale-educated attorney and author of two New York Times best-selling books, The Green Collar Economy (2008) and Rebuild the Dream (2012), about his journey as an environmental and human rights activist to becoming a White House policy advisor. He was the main advocate for the Green Jobs Act. Signed into law by George W. Bush in 2007, the Green Jobs Act was the first piece of federal legislation to codify the term "green jobs." During the Obama Administration, the legislation has resulted in $500 million in national funding for green jobs training.

In 2009, Jones worked as the green jobs advisor to President Barack Obama. In this role, he helped to lead the inter-agency process that oversaw the multi-billion dollar investment in skills training and jobs development within the environmental and green energy sectors.

He has also been honored with numerous awards and spotlighted on several lists of high achievers, including: the World Economic Forum's "Young Global Leader" designation; Rolling Stone's 2012 "12 Leaders Who Get Things Done"; TIME's 2009 "100 Most Influential People in The World"; and the Root's 2013 "The Root 100."

????? On the show I believe she speaks of her partner as "Susan".

thanks for recoginizing  fog.  he's an important voice for those who don't have voices.

dead2 with the breitbart propaganda. lol.

honestly the only TV news i can stomach is Morning Joe.

I used to know Van Jones.  He is smart and insightful, and taught me a thing or two about a thing or two. I have mad respect for the guy, although I have only seen his current show once.  Yes, he believes that police should be held accountable. He believes that too many people of all races have been incarcerated and that this is bad for our society as a whole.  He also believes in affordable urban  housing and economic and educational opportunity in the inner city.  The oh so radical Lawyer's Committee For Civil Rights was started at the request of John F. Kennedy. The Ella Baker Center started out of Police Watch, which was simply a hot line for people to report abuses by the police so they could be documented and tracked and investigated where appropriate. In some cases, people would be referred to attorneys who may or may not have decided to take their cases--usually when the abuse was clear and there was some significant injury. This was so that the public would not have to rely entirely on official channels to hold cops accountable.  This was in a time  when the SFPD was using pepper spray indiscriminately, causing a lot of deaths (which is why they don't use it any more).  Van would not suffer fools lightly, but he was polite and measured and was committed to using the legal system to keep the legal system honest.  I always enjoy seeing him on TV and I wish him the best.  Also, he was friends with Prince.  Which means I can claim Prince as a friend of a friend.

There is also a reason why the Dems have lost a thousand seats since 2008.

Fox news is winning by working uneducated white people into a frenzy. If you repeat a lie enough times it begins to not be a lie anymore. Just proves how many ignorant white folks live in America.

poor lefties

still believing

what is this dead2 clown blathering about?

The Fox News channel absolutely crushed their two main competitors, MSNBC and CNN, in Inauguration Day ratings, more than tripling their combined total.

According to numbers from Nielsen Research, during President Donald Trump’s swearing in and inauguration address — which took place from noon until approximately 12:30 p.m. EST — Fox News averaged 2.99 million viewers, compared to CNN’s 521,000 and MSNBC’s 315,000, The Hill reports. That means Fox’s average number of viewers more than tripled the combined average of MNSBC and CNN.

There are a lot of idiots out there.

I have no doubt that most people who wanted to watch that Trump's inauguration also watch Fox. That's like saying that McDonalds is popular with fat people.

yeah really-dead2, you're a stupid mother fucker.
