Works for me (Safari), but runs very slowly...

I think the confusing step that's easily missed is that one must upload the image file first -- and make sure it's not over 1MB -- then there's the second step of  hitting the "insert file" button to place the file. 

Clementine.  About a minute to upload and a minute to insert.

jklowan, did you try the "tutorial" in Formatting, on the left side of this page?

I don't have the same view you do (Admin view is different) so I'm not sure how to help, thanks LLOLLO with the tech tip.

I'm going to change what I see and see if I can at least relate to what you're saying.

It's good having you here, and I'm sorry it's frustrating.

It didn't work for me today on Safari. Have done it a hundred times before not doing anything different. 

When I changed to "moderator" instead of "admin", I only got a blank window that said in its frame: about:blank and didn't change to the usual one that allows posting. On Safari.

I'll get in touch with lava and see what he can do. I hope it's something he has time for and can figure it out.

I knew you would know how to do all that and would try. I hope this can be resolved easily and quickly.

I tried to post as admin and that worked. Stay tuned.

Short version of how I do it on MS Edge - may or may not be helpful.

1. I click the colored icon on lower tool bar. I get a large window called "about blank". It does nothing for seconds up to about a minute. Then it briefly displays "File browsing is disabled...". When this goes away,

2. I click Upload. I get a small window

3. I click Choose a file and do so - must be 1 MB or less.

4. I click Upload in the small window.

5. When file is uploaded I click Insert file.

6. When file is inserted I click right after (below and to the right of) the image and hit the space bar to enable "Preview".

Yeah. I am running windows 7, yeah I know, and when in firefox the window stays blank. I left it for 2 hrs once and it stayed blank. If I use Chrome it is slow, but it works.

I had the same problem twice -- a while back - last year. I inquired on the techie talk zone.  Judits wiz kids were kind enough to help out.

The quickest way I have found to post images here is by uploading them to a free pic hosting site, like imgur.com, and then using the source editor to display them. It might be an extra step, but I can get a pic posted in less than a minute this way, as opposed to a couple of minutes uploading the pic on the zone. And if you have multiple pics to post, this is definitely the way to go.

The code needed is about as simple as it gets: <img src=Your pic URL goes here>.

Here's a live example using Bss' gnarly bull elk trifecta pic that I uploaded to imgur. Click on the Source button above, and then type and/or copy & paste the code with the URL into the editor box:

lava said last night that he will read this thread and check things out from his end and see if he can come up with anything that will help.

The pop-up window seems to be where the problem lies. That thing takes forever to load the file upload selector widget, if it loads at all.

It seems like it takes a little longer each time. Could it be accumulating multiple versions of the  "about blank" profile? Could there be some way to get rid of the previous versions, if that is the case, similar to the way you can dispose of accumulated cookies and temp. files?
