“We are saddened by the news today that our Compadre, Dusty Hill, has passed away in his sleep at home in Houston, TX. We, along with legions of ZZ Top fans around the world, will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature and enduring commitment to providing that monumental bottom to the ‘Top’. We will forever be connected to that ‘Blues Shuffle in C".
Statement from Billy Gibbons and Frank Beard at the ZZ Top website.
Saw them in 1980 at the Cap Centre. They were wearing mechanics uniforms a friend brought a bottle of JD inside without any problem. We swiggwd it there . The good old days when you got away with everything at a show.
Saw em maaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnny times from the 70's at the Palace in Waterbury till the last time they played the Oakdale. 5-6 years ago or so. In Waterbury they literally made the walls shake and the earth quake. One year in Hartford with the huge pyramid lazer lights opening with Under Pressure was sumthin, they just kept it going and going, blues my face right off.
Viva Las Vega Dusty, I've been digging ZZ Top since I was in high school. First show spring 1977,last show fall 2019. I tried to catch every tour. Fifty years with the original band members. RIP Dusty, you rocked brother.
Actually the newest tour they are to kick off, they were NOT going to have Dusty on it due to health reasons. It would have been first time the trio would be missing one.
I have a feeling (If Covid allows) this might be a huge huge tribute to that big bearded bastard.
He is to pasture out on the range, there's a lot of pretty girls out out there.
I had Tres Hombres and Degeulo on 8 track, yeah 8 track, and burned that shit out of them in my first cruiser, a '72 eldorado...ahhhh, High school in '82...brings me back

I'm a shit kickin Florida boy, they came around all the fuckin time. Saw them 30 or more times.
What's it gonna take to lay that top on down?
Why don't you ask me when we get to the edge of town.............
Pretended I was sick when I was 14 and snuck out my window and saw them in WPB at the leaky tee pee.
Got home and climbed in bed at 1 am. My Dad came in 5 minuets later and beat the living shit out of me.
Worth it to see my middle school heros
