Last two WIllie shows I saw (
Last two WIllie shows I saw ('18 and '19) I thought each was going to be my last, he could barely breathe. The last one was ~50 minutes beginning to end, and this is a guy I used to see do 44-song 2.5hour sets... Was surprised to see this tour announcement, but hoping to hit the Wheatland show in October, even if it's just 30 more minutes of seeing Willie out there doing his thing.
As his voice has declined, his guitar-playing has been more up front in his shows, and his playing is delicate and tasteful and it's still (or more than ever) a real treat.
I can only imagine he's out there because he wants to be. If we both make it to October, it will be fun!

He is surrounding himself
He is surrounding himself with some great musicians on this tour. Maybe they will come out and jam with him and take some of the pressure off - sort of like how George Clinton is on stage for only a portion of P-Funk shows and when he is out there, he spends half the time just looking around and sort of directing things.

Some of us might remember Willie, the security guard at the Kaiser. He was in the Grateful Dead Movie, and was usually around for big events like New Years. Turns out his real name was Clyde Williams. Can't find any pictures of him, but that guy was a beloved part of the scene.

Has anyone here read Me and
Has anyone here read Me and Sister Bobbie: True Tales of the Family Band? It's written by Willie and his sister and occasional keyboard player, Bobbie, in alternating chapters, and tells the stories of their lives. I picked up a copy last Christmas and thought it was a great read.

SF Willie was absolutely at the Broadway shows. Peeps were jumping for joy and so many hgh fives. "Have your tickets out & ready".... he was even wearing the same jacket/uniform.
