Medina Spirit tested dirty. If a conformation test has the same findings he will be disqualified.
If that happens the winning purse must be returned.
Those who bet on Medina Spirit do not have to return the money. Those who bet on the horses who came in 2n, 3rd or 4th do not get any extra money.
I bet on Essential Quality, the favorite, to come in 3rd but lost my bet as he was declared 4rd which was out of the money. I will not be compensated.
While my loss was stinging it was not nearly as bad as the "Mattress Mack" of Houston losing bet of 2.4 million on Essential Quality.
If the horse is disqualified the trainer Bob Baffert will be suspended from Churchill Downs. I do not know how long such a suspension would last.

Had my horse been declared 3rd I probably would have doubled up $500 to a grand. Thank God I didn't bet the rent.
My wife bet Medina Spirit to win & won. But not enough to cover my bet.

Medina Spirit ran in the
Medina Spirit ran in the Preakness & came in 3rd but with clean pre-race tests.
New York state has just banned Medina Spirit & trainer Bob Baffert from racing in their state for the summer so he will not be running in the Belmont.
This was Baffert's horses 5th dirty test in just over a year. While it is true that Baffert trains a lot of horses none are allowed to be dirty.
